Abstract
Nearly six percent of deaf children were born of deaf parents (Dc/Dp). They faced with challenges in many ways in the spoken language society. In order to know the role of Taiwan Sign Language (TSL) in the learning life of a Deaf children of Deaf parents, the qualitative research design was used to answer this question. According to the references and referral by deaf friends, I have connected with “Jiou-Wo” (Dc/Dp, the primal participant of this study) for more than twelve months. He was thirty years old and never yield to this deafness. His parents and two bothers were deaf. TSL was the only communication mode in his family. Through not only interviewing Jiou-Wo, his parents, teacher and classmate separately, but also analyzing the relevant documents, the main findings were as following: Growing up in the abundant TSL environment, Jiou-Wo superiorly identified himself with deaf community. He insisted that TSL is much more practical than Chinese Coded Sign Language or Spoken Language in getting into the knowledge world. TSL was very important for Jiou-Wo in his learning life. TSL facilitated his learning and let him become a high achiever. Jiou-Wo demonstrated very good writing ability. This fact revealed that using TSL wouldn’t impede Jiou-Wo’s writing ability. These results may have some implications for deciding communication mode for the Deaf...

A non-gaussian continuous state space model for asset degradation
The degradation model plays an essential role in asset life prediction and condition based maintenance. Various degradation models have been proposed. Within these models, the state space model has the ability to combine degradation data and failure event data. The state space model is also an effective approach to deal with the multiple observations and missing data issues. Using the state space degradation model, the deterioration process of assets is presented by a system state process which can be revealed by a sequence of observations. Current research largely assumes that the underlying system development process is discrete in time or states. Although some models have been developed to consider continuous time and space, these state space models are based on the Wiener process with the Gaussian assumption. This paper proposes a Gamma-based state space degradation model in order to remove the Gaussian assumption. Both condition monitoring observations and failure events are considered in the model so as to improve the accuracy of asset life prediction. A simulation study is carried out to illustrate the application procedure of the proposed model
Synthesis and Characterization of Photo-induced Cross-linkable Poly(fluorene-co-triphenylamine) and Applications on Polymer Light-emitting Diodes
In this studies, a series of copolymers were synthesized by triphenylamine and fluorene via Suzuki-Miyamura reaction, which were characterized by gel permeation chromatography (GPC), thermal gravimetric analyzer (TGA), differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), cyclic voltammetry (CV), absorption and photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL).
The polymers were cross-linked by adding the triphenylamine derivative and the photo acid generator which catalyzed Friedel-Crafts reaction under UV irradiation. This approach can be implemented to PLED applications as hole-transporting layer. Under the optimized conditions, the polymeric light-emitting device (PLED) of ITO/photo-cross-linkable HTL/PVK-Ir(ppy)3-PBD/Mg-Ag, with a turn-on voltage of 9.4 V (100 cd/m2), a maximum brightness of 7630 cd/m2, and a current efficiency of 15.8 cd/A was achieved.
The polymer which modified with ferrocene units by Friedel-Crafts reaction could be cross-linked by triphenylamine derivative under UV irradiation. This moiety is introduced into the polymer light-emitting diodes to help the hole injection. In addition, the polymer could undergo electropolymerization by cyclic voltammetry
