    Critical Current Density Anisotropy Of Aligned Mgb2 Crystallites

    We have obtained the induced critical current density, Jc ∝ ΔM, with ΔM taken from hysteretic magnetization loops measured for temperatures between 5 and 35 K, in a sample of aligned MgB2 crystallites. We found an almost temperature independent ratio Jcab / Jcc ∼ 1.5, between the critical current density parallel and perpendicular to the ab planes. This latter result follows closely the expected dependence of Jcab / Jcc ≈ ξab/ξc ∼ 1.7, where ξab and ξc are the corresponding coherence length values. Uncertainties related to the evaluation of geometric factors and subtraction of a magnetic background are also discussed. © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V.     Scaling Of Nonlinear Complex Susceptibility Applied To The Study Of Type-ii Superconductors

    Different χ measurements can be collapsed into a single universal curve if plotted against the scaling variable h(ω̃/ω)1/σ or, more generally, h/Jd, where J(T,B,ω) is a frequency dependent shielding current density, d is the sample half-width and h is the AC field amplitude. We have tested these scaling laws for two Nb samples, one melt textured YBCO sample, and one Er123 single crystal. Further, we found that J(T,B,ω) for Er123 displays a behavior closely related to the second magnetization peak (fishtail effect), observed in M × H curves.     A study of the second magnetization peak (SMP) using a scaling procedure for ac susceptibility measurements, in an ErBa2Cu3O7-δ single crystal is presented.     Different χac measurements can be collapsed into a single curve if plotted against the ac penetration depth δ = h/Jd. Further, using this scaling law, it is possible to obtain the frequency dependence of the shielding current density J(ν, B, T). In this work, this scaling relation was tested for a Er Ba2Ou3O7-δ single crystal. The frequency dependence of J(ν, B, T) displays a behavior closely related with the second magnetization peak ("fishtail effect") observed in M × H curves.
