Western medieval legal manuscripts in the collections of the University of Pennsylvania
Western legal manuscripts of the Middle Ages in North American collections are among the least known to scholars. The University of Pennsylvania has a rich collection of these texts, several of which were in the collection of the historian Henry Charles Lea. Included are works of civil law and canon law, as well as collections of papal letters and guides to pastoral care. The descriptions of most of these manuscripts in the catalog of Norman P. Zacour and Rudolf Hirsch are perfunctory, sometimes erring or omitting valuable information. Other manuscripts were added in recent years in the Lawrence J. Schoenberg Collection. Much of this material is being added to the Franklin online catalog of the University’s libraries, but researchers frequently do not search these digital resources. This article provides more complete guidance to the University’s medieval legal manuscripts than any of the existing catalogs offers, whether in print or online. It also provides updated bibliographic information in print or online. Every manuscript has been examined by the author in situ. Among the important works represented in the collection is the Panormia (a work of canon law often attributed to Ivo of Chartres). Authors present include the curialist Thomas of Capua, canonists Petrus de Braco, William of Pagula, Bernardus Raimundi, Adam of Aldersbach, Raymond of Peñafort, and civil lawyers Baldus de Ubaldis, and Bartolus de Saxoferrato. Three of these manuscripts were owned in the past by Sir Thomas Phillipps
Two 12th century-commentaries on Martianus Capella and Virgil. Wiener Studien|Wiener Studien 126 126|
The commentaries on Martianus Capella’s De nuptiis Mercurii et Philologiae and Vergil’s first six books of the Aeneid, which represent typically medieval allegoric interpretations of two ancient texts of high importance for scholarly formation in medieval Western Europe, are obviously written by the same author to be used in cathedral schools of the twelfth century in order to demonstrate the unity of what he calls philosophy, which comprises both knowledge of the universe and ethics. The author composed his commentary on Vergil, as can be shown by an analysis of quotations, only after that on Martianus, with anagogic intention: the destination of man, that is to say of the microcosmus, according to his conviction, aims at surpassing the material world, the macrocosmus, the understanding of which is provided by the Liberal Arts, their knowledge granting the ascension to the sphere of eternity. This is why the commentary on the Aeneid, like the interpretation given by John of Salisbury, ends within the sixth book, where Aeneas, during his visit to the underworld, arrives at the Elysium, the region, where the blessed dwell. This arrangement of the commentaries points to the Cosmographia of Bernardus Silvestris, the first part of which deals with the creation of the universe, whereas its second part concentrates on the creation of man, according to the sequence in the relative report in the Biblical Book of Genesis. Thus it is not improbable, that Bernardus Silvestris is really the author of both commentaries

Teologi Penderitaan dan Pengorbanan dalam Perpektif Kristiani dalam Konteks Pelayanan Tim Medis COVID-19
This study focuses on suffering and sacrifice, \u27there is no sacrifice without suffering\u27, particularly: the suffering and sacrifice of the medical team members in overcoming the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. The objectives of the research are (1) to describe their theological view of the reality of suffering and sacrifice in their ministry and its relation to Christian theology, and (2) to analyze the role of theology in their professional ministry. The author of the research has utilized a mixed-method with data collection carried out using a quantitative (tool: questionnaire) and qualitative approach (tool: video from Youtube channel). The author stipulates doctors, nurses, and midwives who are involved in handling Covid-19 patients at the Santo Yusup Hospital and the Santo Borromeus Hospital in Bandung as respondents. In this study, the author also excerpts statements of doctors, nurses, or midwives from various hospitals in videos uploaded on the Youtube channel as part of the research data. The results of this study are that although it does not reach the meaning of redemption, the Covid-19 medical team who experience disappointment, sadness, and concern view the sacrifices made for the lives of others as precious actions so that they continue to strive to provide the best service. Prayers and good teachings taught in religion evoke their motivation and strength to be faithful in their ministry.

Magnitude control of commutator errors
Non-uniform filtering of the Navier-Stokes equations expresses itself, next to the turbulent stresses, in additional closure terms known as commutator errors. These terms require explicit subgrid modeling if the non-uniformity of the filter is sufficiently pronounced. We derive expressions for the magnitude of the mean flux, the turbulent stress flux and the commutator error for individual Fourier modes. This gives rise to conditions for the spatial variations in the filter-width and the filter-skewness subject to which the magnitude of the commutator errors can be controlled. These conditions are translated into smoothness requirements of the computational grid, that involve ratios of first -, second - and third order derivatives of the grid mapping
