No full textPh.D.In Shelley scholarship, there has been controversy as to whether Shelley is radical or conservative, feminist or ambivalent towards feminine self-assertion. There has also been disagreement over the extent to which she is critical of key Romantic ideas, especially that of transcendence. This thesis argues that Shelley is neither conventional nor contrarian. It contends that Shelley celebrates a notion of what I call the ethical self: an individual self that is able to maintain an ongoing exchange between opposite yet interrelated aspects of human life, such as freedom and duty, passion and reason, transcendence and domesticity, romance and reality, romance and history. The notion "exchange" is characterised by a kind of tempered or moderate dialecticism, which is concerned with mediating or balancing contrary, yet complimentary aspects of human life through the qualification of one aspect by its contrary.Chapter One focuses on Frankenstein. It argues that Shelley upholds the radical perspective of political monstrosity that attributes human monstrosity to the lack of freedom in society. It also contends that unqualified individual freedom or unqualified moral duty can lead to monstrosity. Moreover, it looks into the role passion plays in the formation of morality, and the disastrous effects of excessive passions. Finally, it explores both the egotistical and humanitarian aspects of Wordsworthian transcendence, P. B. Shelley's notion of transcendence, and Shelley's notion of what I call interconnected transcendence.Chapter Two is about Valperga. It suggests that Euthanasia places morality and humanity above historical circumstances and one's political identity. It also examines Euthanasia's notion of spiritual freedom, and how her freedom is qualified by a sense of duty towards her city-state, and more importantly, towards humanity. Additionally, this chapter explores the ongoing mediation between reason and passion, reason and imagination. Lastly, it probes how Shelley critiques the transcendence the Byronic hero seeks through individual heroism, as well as the Byronic vision of love that transcends morality or humanity.Chapter Three concerns Lodore. It argues that Shelley is critical of the aristocratic code of honour and the practice of dueling. It also contends that Byronic individualism is contradictory and theatrical in the sense that he needs the world to reject the world. This chapter also demonstrates Cornelia's transformation, suggesting that her new feeling of freedom is accompanied by a genuine sense of duty towards her daughter. Furthermore, it explores Fanny's self-affirming dialecticism between independence and duty, and Ethel's, between romance and reality.Chapter Four studies Falkner. It contends that the Byronic Falkner regards life as a self-directing drama in which he plays the role of a rebellious and remorseful hero. Moreover, Falkner's individualistic reading is unqualified by empathetic imagination, whilst Gerard's empathetic reading of Hamlet is unqualified by an awareness of the differences between him and Hamlet. Underwater Superhydrophobiciy: Fundamentals and Applications
No full textBioinspired superhydrophobic surfaces have attracted great interests from fundamental researches to engineering applications. The functionality of superhydrophobicity, especially for an underwater situation, depends on a large area fraction of entrapped liquid-gas interfaces, which, however, are subject to instabilities induced by various physical phenomena, such as pressurization, air diffusion, fluid flow, and condensation. The wetting states strongly affssect the functionality of superhydrophobic surface, like liquid slippage and cavitation. The current work is dedicated to elucidating the underlying mechanisms of stability and wetting transition of underwater superhydrophobicity, providing novel strategies for durable and robust design, and introducing the applications in drag reduction and cavitation control. Analiza kontrastywna: wybrane leksemy związane ze zjawiskami epidemii w języku polskim, chińskim i angielskim
No full textThis work presents a comparative study of the linguistic images of epidemic phenomena in Polish, Chinese and English. It compares four groups of words selected by the author: epidemia – 流行病 (liú xíng bìng ) / 疫情 (yì qíng) / 瘟疫 (wēn yì) – epidemic, kwarantanna – 隔离 (gé lí) – quarantine, szczepić – 接种 (jiē zhǒng) / 打预防针 (dá yù fáng zhēn) – to vaccinate / to inoculate / to immunize oraz zarazić – 传染 (chuán rán) / 感染 (gǎn rǎn) – to infect. The study not only compares the prototypical meanings of these words, but also explores their connotations in different cultural contexts. The author collected material from dictionaries, corpuses, and press articles of the three languages, and used authorial translations to analyze the data. This analysis provides a new perspective on the epidemic and also highlights some relationships between the compared languages, which are typologically distant from each other. The study is useful for glottodidactic and translation practices.Analiza kontrastywna wnosi porównawczy opis podobieństw i różnic w językowych obrazach zjawiska epidemicznego w polszczyźnie, chińszczyźnie oraz angielszczyźnie na podstawie wybranych przez autorkę czterech grup słów: epidemia – 流行病 (liú xíng bìng ) / 疫情 (yì qíng) / 瘟疫 (wēn yì) – epidemic, kwarantanna – 隔离 (gé lí) – quarantine, szczepić – 接种 (jiē zhǒng) / 打预防针 (dá yù fáng zhēn) – to vaccinate / to inoculate / to immunize oraz zarazić – 传染 (chuán rán) / 感染 (gǎn rǎn) – to infect. W pracy zestawione ze sobą są nie tylko prototypowe znaczenia przeanalizowanych wyrazów, lecz także ich rozszerzone znaczenia, a mianowicie konotacje w odmiennych kontekstach kulturowych. Badanie opiera się na materiale zebranym ze słowników, korpusów bądź artykułów prasowych trzech języków. Wykorzystane są również autorskie tłumaczenia. Analiza umożliwia innowacyjny punkt widzenia, z jakiego można spojrzeć na epidemię, a jednocześnie stanowi próbę wykazania pewnych związków między porównanymi językami, które są typologicznie od siebie dość odległe. Przyda się także w praktykach glottodydaktycznych i translatorskich

本論文以《說文解字》段注為主，輔以段氏著作：《周禮漢讀考》、《儀禮漢讀考》、《經韻樓集》正補編，參閱清人對禮的見解，試釐出段玉裁對《周禮》學的研究。
全文共分五章：
第一章 緒論，敘述本論文的研究方法及研究經過。
第二章 敘段玉裁與其著作。
第三章《說文》段注引《周禮》部分
第四章《說文》段注引《周禮》鄭注部分（包含先鄭、後鄭、杜子春之注）
以上二章是全文之重心所在。
首先將《說文解字》9353字中，段注引《周禮》之文抽出，再依段注引《周禮》原文及引《周禮》鄭注分成二章。此二章是同又分三節探討：第一節名物編，第二節制度編，第三節儀節編。每一節就《說文解字》段注引《周禮》及鄭注部分，逐條列出，並加案語，或說明出處、或補充說明字義、或引《儀禮》及《禮記》之文說禮制、或引用前人的考釋、或引清學者對禮的詮釋以作比較說明、或某字於三禮中有幾種義項者，分別以（一）、（二）……標明之、或說明異文、或說明借用情形。若段注說明已詳，則不另立案語。
第五章結論
此章採統計的方式，就段注引《周禮》及鄭注《周禮》之文以說字者，其引《周禮》文、先鄭注、杜子春注、後鄭注、正先鄭注、正後鄭注、正杜子春注等共若干條，藉以說明段氏《周禮》研究。
