Dec 1943 Darlington’ (RMNH). TME: 359 specimens. TGE: 3♂♂, 2♀♀. Diagnosis. The species is distinct from the other two species of the “ cribristernis ” group in having the MA/ MM ≤0.93. Very similar to P. vicarius but different in its: (1) mentum tooth truncate apically; (2) prosternal process narrower, diamond-shaped; (3) metepisternum lateral margin concave posteriorly; its coadunation with epipleuron located more anteriorly; (4) straighter and thinner apex of the median lobe; (5) apical gonocoxite stouter, with nematiform setae removed medially from apex; and (6) spermathecal gland attached to receptaculum more apically. Pseudoodes cribristernis differs from P. subcoriaceus in its smaller size, less than 14.5 mm. Description. Habitus. Specimens of middle to large size (BL: 12.6–14.3 mm, BW: 5.0– 5.6 mm), with subelongate, relatively flat body (Fig. 1A). Ratios and measurements. See Table 2. Color and luster. Body black, appendages piceous to rufopiceous. Integument moderately shiny, without iridescence. Punctuation. Dorsal surface without punctuation; pro- and metasternum at sides, mesoepisternum and metepisternum more densely and strongly punctate than proepisternum; abdominal ventrites 1–5 finely rugose and punctate at sides, ventrite 6 punctate at apex. Head. Half or less as wide as pronotum (Table 2). Mentum tooth truncate, with distinct paramedial border (Fig. 2A). Thorax. Pronotum (Fig. 1B) with sides slightly rounded toward posterior angles (PW /PB: 1.02–1.08); maximum width in posterior third; laterobasal impressions indistinct; base slightly sinuate; anterior angles rounded, weakly projected. Prosternum with median longitudinal sulcus indistinct; prosternal process elliptic, with rounded apex (Fig. 2B). Metepisternum longer than wide (MA/ MM: 0.87–0.93), with lateral margin concave posteriorly, coadunation with epipleuron short, located anteriorly (Fig. 1C). Elytra. Apical sinuation moderate, well defined. Basal margin distinct laterally, forming a small denticle at shoulder, disappearing medially at level of stria 3. Parascutellar striola distinct, punctate, less impressed than other striae; striae impunctate. Intervals 1–7 subconvex, interval 8 more convex than others. Legs. Metacoxal basal sulcus extended to lateral fourth. Male mesotibia slightly dilated apically. Protarsomeres 1–3 of male (Fig. 2C) moderately dilated, with second tarsomere barely wider than long (W/Lp2: 1.05–1.15). Male genitalia. Median lobe (Figs 1D, E, H, G) with basal bulb relatively short, wide; angle between basal bulb and shaft nearly right; shaft long, significantly swollen medially; apex short, curved ventrally; apical lamella short, straight, rounded at tip. Female genitalia. Basal gonocoxite with four lateroapical setae situated in line. Apical gonocoxite subelongate, stouter than in P. vicarius, with two moderately large dorsolateral ensiform setae, dorsomedial ensiform seta near middle, and nematiform setae subapically (Fig. 2D). Bursa copulatrix with a large dorsal sclerite; spermatheca moderately long, well differentiated, with receptaculum twisted apically; spermathecal gland connected near apical fifth of seminal canal (Fig. 2E). Distribution. Palaearctic Region: China (Yunnan). Oriental Region: Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia (Sumatra Is., Mentawai Is., West Papua Province, Papua Province), Papua New Guinea. First records for China, Thailand, and Vietnam. Cited for Laos as Oodes vicarius by Andrewes (1930). Bionomics. Specimens were collected most frequently at night under light traps. In Yunnan, they were gathered along riverbanks on wet ground at night. Specimens were also collected in the daytime, most often along riverbanks (under rocks or on shrubs), more rarely in forest litter (shifting dead wood or under rocks). Pseudoodes cribristernis inhabits places situated in a wide altitudinal gradient, from sea level (Con Son Island, Vietnam; Palenbang, Indonesia) up to 2100 m (Yunnan). It is the most eurytopic species among the taxa of Pseudoodes. Notes. Darlington (1968: 38) wrote about O. cribristernis: ‘ The species (if it is one species) is known from Burma, Sumatra, and New Guinea ’. Since a vast area has not been populated by P. cribristernis between the islands of Sumatra and New Guinea, the data from New Guinea are questionable and may refer to another closely related species. 2. The species is readily separated from other species of the “ cribristernis ” group by its larger size, more than 15 mm, metepisternum as long as wide and its coadunation with epipleuron located in the middle, as well as smaller PW /HW and PW / PL, and slightly larger EL/EW. Description. Habitus. Specimens of large size (BL: 15.8 mm, BW: 6.0 mm), with elongate, subconvex body (Fig. 3A). Ratios and measurements. See Table 2. Color and luster. Body black, appendages piceous to rufopiceous. Integument moderately shiny, without iridescence. Punctuation. Dorsal surface without punctuation; pro-, meso- and metepisternum as well as pro- and metasternum strongly and densely punctate at sides (prosternum stronger punctate than in P. cribristernis and P. vicarius); abdominal ventrites 1–5 at sides and near middle, and ventrite 6 at apex densely punctate. Head. More than three quarters as wide as pronotum (Table 2). Mentum tooth truncate, with distinct paramedial border (Fig. 3C). Thorax. Pronotum (Fig. 3B) with sides slightly rounded toward posterior angles (PW /PB: 1.05); maximum width at posterior third; laterobasal impressions indistinct, poorly defined; base feebly sinuate; anterior angles rounded, weakly projected. Prosternum with median longitudinal sulcus shallow, wide, more distinct than in other species of “ cribristernis ” group; prosternal process elliptic, with rounded apex (Fig. 3D). Metepisternum as long as wide (MA/ MM: 1.03), with lateral margin straight to slightly convex, coadunation with epipleuron short, located near middle (Fig. 3E). Elytra. The study of the labels of the last specimens collected by Georges Lewis showed that: (1) one of them was collected in 1881, while the description was published in 1873; (2) the locality does not match the type locality indicated in Bates (1873). Morphologically very close to P. cribristernis in a set of external and genitalia characters, but differentiated by its: (1) mentum tooth emarginate apically; (2) prosternal process rounded; (3) metepisternum with lateral margin slightly convex; its coadunation with epipleuron located more medially; (4) apical lamella of median lobe stouter and bent to left; (5) apical gonocoxite subelongate, with nematiform setae closer to apex; and (6) spermathecal gland attached to receptaculum medially. Differs from P. subcoriaceus in its smaller size, less than 14.5 mm. Description. Habitus. Specimens of middle to large size (BL: 12.8–14.2 mm, BW: 5.0– 5.6 mm), with subelongate and subconvex body (Figs 4A, C). Ratios and measurements. See Table 2. Color and luster. Body black, appendages piceous. Integument less shiny dorsally than in P. cribristernis, without iridescence. Punctuation. Dorsal surface without punctuation; prosternum and metasternum at sides, mesoepisternum and metepisternum more densely and strongly punctate than proepisternum; abdominal ventrites as in P. cribristernis. Head. About half as wide as pronotum (Table 2). Mentum tooth more or less emarginate at apex, with distinct paramedial border (Figs 4D, E). Thorax. Pronotum with sides slightly rounded toward posterior angles (PW /PB: 1.05–1.09); maximum width in posterior third; laterobasal impressions indistinct; base feebly sinuate; anterior angles rounded, slightly projected. Prosternum with median longitudinal sulcus indistinct; prosternal process ovate, with apex rounded (Fig. 4F). Metepisternum longer than wide (MA/ MM: 0.94–0.96), with lateral margin straight to slightly convex, coadunation with epipleuron short, located in anterior half, more medially than in P. cribristernis (Fig. 4G). Elytra. Apical sinuation weaker than in P. cribristernis. Basal margin distinct laterally, forming a small denticle at shoulder, disappearing medially at level between striae 2 and 3. Parascutellar striola distinct, punctate, less impressed than other striae; striae punctate at least anteriorly (contrary to P. cribristernis). Intervals 1–7 flat to subconvex, interval 8 more convex than others. Legs. Metacoxal basal sulcus reaching lateral fourth. Male mesotibia slightly dilated, with a swelling in apical two-thirds.     VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) is a widely used cooperative inventory policy in supply chains in which each enterprise has its autonomy in pricing. This paper discusses a leader-follower Stackelberg game in a VMI supply chain where the manufacturer, as a leader, produces a single product with a limited production capacity and delivers it at a wholesale price to multiple different retailers, as the followers, who then sell the product in dispersed and independent markets at retail prices. An algorithm is then developed to determine the equilibrium of the Stackelberg game. Finally, a numerical study is conducted to understand the influence of the Stackelberg equilibrium and market related parameters on the profits of the manufacturer and its retailers. Through the numerical example, our research demonstrates that: (a) the market related parameters have significant influence on the manufacturer’ and its retailers’ profits; (b) a retailer’s profit may not be necessarily lowered when it is charged with a higher inventory cost by the manufacturer; (c) the equilibrium of the Stackelberg equilibrium benefits the manufacturer.Stackelberg Game;Supply Chain;Vendor Managed Inventory

    Pseudoodes gen. n. Type species: Oodes cribristernis Bates, 1892, by present designation. Diagnosis. The species from this genus share the following character states: (1) Mentum tooth with apex truncate to emarginate; (2) Submentum with medial and lateral setiferous punctures; (3) Prosternal process unbordered; (4) Abdominal ventrite 3 without ambulatory setae; (5) Male protarsomere 3 subtrapezoidal, with sides constricted distally; (6) Basal bulb of median lobe of aedeagus closed dorsally, with apical aileron; (7) Sclerite of internal sac of median lobe very long, spiral, formed by broader proximal part and narrower distal extension; (8) Spermatheca differentiated to receptaculum and seminal canal (reverse state occurs in several taxa of “ rambouseki ” group). Description. Color and luster. Dorsal part of head and ventral surface dark-brown to black; pronotum and elytra dark brown to black (most species) or bluish (P. coelestinus); appendages piceous to rufopiceous. Microsculpture and micropunctuation. Dorsal surface of head, pronotum and elytra with regular micropunctuation and isodiametric meshes well impressed which together form “punctate rosettes” microreticulation (like Anatrichis spp., see Spence 1983; Guéorguiev & Morita 2017), micropunctuation larger, denser and more regular on head than on pronotum and elytra; ventral surface without regular micropunctuation, with reduced sculpticells (sometimes meso- and metacoxae, and metasternum with microreticulation). Chaetotaxy. Labrum with six more or less equidistant setae, the two lateral shorter and slightly remote from medial four. Clypeal setae present. Anterior supraorbital seta absent. Ventral seta of antennomere 2 located in apical half. Anterior seta of stipes present. Setae on apical margin of ligula distant. Penultimate labial palpomere glabrous. Pronotum with basal setiferous punctures (except P. coelestinus). Parascutellar seta of elytron present. Elytral interval 3 with two discal setiferous punctures near stria 2, first situated in medial third, second in posterior third. Mesocoxa with lateral and posterior setae; mesotrochanter with one seta. Hind femur without posterior setae. Last visible sternite with two apical punctures in male, four in female. Basal gonocoxite with lateroapical setae, without medioapical setae. Apical gonocoxite with two, well-developed or reduced, dorsolateral ensiform setae; dorsomedial ensiform seta present, located near base or equidistant from base and middle, rarely near middle; nematiform setae present, located near apex or equidistant from apex and middle. Head. Eye large, its vertical diameter greater than length of antennomere 1 (in most species) or subequal to it (in “ rambouseki ” group). Anterior margin of labrum straight. Antenna long, with last two or three segments exceeding pronotal base. Mandibles large, convex. Last two maxillary palpomeres of subequal length. Paraglossa long, not expanded. Mentum tooth with apex truncate (most species), more rarely emarginate (in P. vicarius and P. rambouseki). Thorax. Pronotum with anterior angles slightly to moderately projected. Prosternal process elliptic (most species), rarely ovate (in P. vicarius), with apex rounded or subpointed. Mesosternum deeply concave; mesepisternum without apodemal pit; mesocoxal rim entire. Elytra. Parascutellar striola distinct or reduced, situated between suture and stria 1; stria 7 as distinct as medial striae. Granulation in marginal furrow continuous. Legs. Metacoxal basal sulcus well developed, extending to lateral fourth (in “ cribristernis ” group) or reduced, reaching lateral third of coxa (in “ ampliusculus ” and “ rambouseki ” groups), rarely ending at medial third (in P. coelestinus). Male mesotibia slightly dilated apically (most species), rarely markedly swollen in apical two-thirds (in P. rambouseki) or greatly curved in basal third and then widened apically (in P. coelestinus). Mesotarsomeres 2–4 and metatarsomeres 3–4 in both sexes as well as protarsomeres 1–4 in female with (in P. coelestinus) or without (in other species) long and dense, yellowish setae on ventral surface. Male front tarsomeres 1–3 with numerous adhesive setae beneath; adhesive setae covering apical three-fourths of tarsomere 1. Male genitalia. Basal bulb of median lobe broad. Ostium reaching (in P. coelestinus) or not reaching basal bulb (in other species). Internal sac with elongate sclerite occupying greater length of shaft. Female genitalia. Apical gonocoxite subelongate or subtriangular. Bursa copulatrix with or without dorsal sclerite; spermatheca moderately long to very long, more or less differentiated (most species) or undifferentiated (P. hunanensis, P. leigongshanicus), with receptaculum twisted (most species) or coiled apically (P. hunanensis, P. leigongshanicus); spermathecal gland with atrium, connected in apical fifth (“ cribricollis ” and “ coelestinus ” groups), or apical third (P. ampliusculus, P. rambouseki), or near middle (P. hunanensis, P. leigongshanicus) of spermatheca; common oviduct with villous canal. Monophyly and relationships. Species of Pseudoodes share three synapomorphies suggesting that the genus, as presently conceived, form a clade: (1) mentum tooth truncate to emarginate; (2) abdominal sternite 3 without ambulatory setae; and (3) internal sac of median lobe with elongate, helical sclerite. The genus is rather heterogeneous as its four species groups display significant morphological differences with each other. The great divergence seems to be a result of long-term evolution, colonization of new geographical areas and settlement in new (different) microhabitats. The species of Pseudoodes share one synapomorphy with those of Sundaoodes —the spermatheca differentiated into long and thinner seminal canal and short and wider receptaculum (Figs 2E, 7D, 14J, 15J, K). The two genera might be adelphotaxa, but evidence to support this is weak. Etymology. A compound name which derives from the Greek stem ψ&epsi;&upsi;δή&sigmav; [pseudḗs] (false, fake) and the generic name Oodes also of Greek origin (see Bousquet 2012: 955). Its gender is masculine. Geographical distribution and diversity. The genus includes ten species: P. vicarius (Bates, 1873), P. coelestinus (Chaudoir, 1882), P. subcoriaceus (Chaudoir, 1882), P. cribristernis (Bates, 1892), P. rambouseki (Jedli&ccaron;ka, 1931), P. ampliusculus sp. n., P. emeishanicus sp. n., P. hunanensis sp. n., P. leigongshanicus sp. n., and P. tianlinensis sp. n. The species occur in East and Southeast Asia, ranging from Japan in the north through South China to Indochina and the Malay Archipelago in the south. Notes. The number of submental setae, prosternal process narrowly rounded apically and the structure of spermatheca (Bousquet 1996: 471–472, 532, fig. 131) suggest that the North American species Oodes amaroides Dejean, 1831 may also belong to this genus. However, this species has prosternal process bordered apically, a state opposite to that in the taxa of Pseudoodes. We have not studied any specimens of four Nearctic Oodes species, including O. amaroides. “ cribristernis ” species group Diagnosis. No synapomorphy was found to suggest that this group of species is monophyletic. The species share several symplesiomorphies which are lacking in species in other groups, among them: (1) apical gonocoxite with well-developed dorsolateral ensiform setae, and (2) long metacoxal basal sulcus, extending to lateral fourth. Pseudoodes subcoriaceus (genitalia not studied), which is known only by the holotype, is provisionally placed here. Members of the “ cribristernis ” group have similar values of PW /PA, EL/EW and EL/ PL (Table 2). 1. Pseudoodes cribristernis (Bates, 1892), comb. n. TGE: 3&male;&male;, 2&female;&female;. Diagnosis. The species is distinct from the other two species of the “ cribristernis ” group in having the MA/ MM ≤0.93. Very similar to P. vicarius but different in its: (1) mentum tooth truncate apically; (2) prosternal process narrower, diamond-shaped; (3) metepisternum lateral margin concave posteriorly; its coadunation with epipleuron located more anteriorly; (4) straighter and thinner apex of the median lobe; (5) apical gonocoxite stouter, with nematiform setae removed medially from apex; and (6) spermathecal gland attached to receptaculum more apically. Pseudoodes cribristernis differs from P. subcoriaceus in its smaller size, less than 14.5 mm. Description. Habitus. Specimens of middle to large size (BL: 12.6–14.3 mm, BW: 5.0– 5.6 mm), with subelongate, relatively flat body (Fig. 1A). Ratios and measurements. See Table 2. Color and luster. Body black, appendages piceous to rufopiceous. Integument moderately shiny, without iridescence. Punctuation. Dorsal surface without punctuation; pro- and metasternum at sides, mesoepisternum and metepisternum more densely and strongly punctate than proepisternum; abdominal ventrites 1–5 finely rugose and punctate at sides, ventrite 6 punctate at apex. Head. Half or less as wide as pronotum (Table 2). Mentum tooth truncate, with distinct paramedial border (Fig. 2A). Thorax. Pronotum (Fig. 1B) with sides slightly rounded toward posterior angles (PW /PB: 1.02–1.08); maximum width in posterior third; laterobasal impressions indistinct; base slightly sinuate; anterior angles rounded, weakly projected. Prosternum with median longitudinal sulcus indistinct; prosternal process elliptic, with rounded apex (Fig. 2B). Metepisternum longer than wide (MA/ MM: 0.87–0.93), with lateral margin concave posteriorly, coadunation with epipleuron short, located anteriorly (Fig. 1C). Elytra. Apical sinuation moderate, well defined. Basal margin distinct laterally, forming a small denticle at shoulder, disappearing medially at level of stria 3. Parascutellar striola distinct, punctate, less impressed than other striae; striae impunctate. Intervals 1–7 subconvex, interval 8 more convex than others. Legs. Metacoxal basal sulcus extended to lateral fourth. Male mesotibia slightly dilated apically. Protarsomeres 1–3 of male (Fig. 2C) moderately dilated, with second tarsomere barely wider than long (W/Lp2: 1.05–1.15). Male genitalia. Median lobe (Figs 1D, E, H, G) with basal bulb relatively short, wide; angle between basal bulb and shaft nearly right; shaft long, significantly swollen medially; apex short, curved ventrally; apical lamella short, straight, rounded at tip. Female genitalia. Basal gonocoxite with four lateroapical setae situated in line. Apical gonocoxite subelongate, stouter than in P. vicarius, with two moderately large dorsolateral ensiform setae, dorsomedial ensiform seta near middle, and nematiform setae subapically (Fig. 2D). Bursa copulatrix with a large dorsal sclerite; spermatheca moderately long, well differentiated, with receptaculum twisted apically; spermathecal gland connected near apical fifth of seminal canal (Fig. 2E). Distribution. Palaearctic Region: China (Yunnan). Oriental Region: Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia (Sumatra Is., Mentawai Is., West Papua Province, Papua Province), Papua New Guinea. First records for China, Thailand, and Vietnam. Cited for Laos as Oodes vicarius by Andrewes (1930). Bionomics. Specimens were collected most frequently at night under light traps. In Yunnan, they were gathered along riverbanks on wet ground at night. Specimens were also collected in the daytime, most often along riverbanks (under rocks or on shrubs), more rarely in forest litter (shifting dead wood or under rocks). Pseudoodes cribristernis inhabits places situated in a wide altitudinal gradient, from sea level (Con Son Island, Vietnam; Palenbang, Indonesia) up to 2100 m (Yunnan). It is the most eurytopic species among the taxa of Pseudoodes. Notes. Darlington (1968: 38) wrote about O. cribristernis: ‘ The species (if it is one species) is known from Burma, Sumatra, and New Guinea ’. Since a vast area has not been populated by P. cribristernis between the islands of Sumatra and New Guinea, the data from New Guinea are questionable and may refer to another closely related species. 2.
