Adaptive detection of terminal voltage collapses for Li-ion batteries
We introduce a novel approach for detecting and predicting terminal voltage collapses in Li-ion batteries without having complete knowledge of a battery model. We present a simplified dynamic model for a Li-ion battery that is forced to track the output voltage curve of a physical Li-ion battery by using universal adaptive stabilization (UAS). We prove that when the physical Li-ion battery becomes unstable, then the simplified dynamic model becomes unstable. Our results do not require a sophisticated model for a battery that faithfully captures all dynamics. Using our results, we present an algorithm for detecting impending voltage collapses for Liion batteries.</p

We also hope to provide a new direction for the community development of Chiayi City further
A high-gain adaptive observer for detecting Li-ion battery terminal voltage collapse
We use a high-gain adaptive observer and a trend filtering algorithm to detect early stages that lead to terminal voltage collapses in Li-ion batteries. This approach allows accurate detection without having sophisticated battery models. Theoretical analysis proves that the physical Li-ion battery becomes unstable when the estimated states of the observer enter instability. The trend filtering algorithm is able to detect such instability under large perturbations from the discharge current. Extensive simulation and experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the algorithms and its robustness under realistic perturbations.</p
Enhancing the selectivity of H(2)O(2) electrogeneration by steric hindrance effect
Selective hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) electrogeneration by oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is an efficient and promising synthetic method for H2O2 production. Herein, we build a particular inorganic–organic interface to enhance the electrocatalytic selectivity of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) aerogels for H2O2 electrogeneration by modifying rGO aerogels with polyethyleneimine (PEI). The three-dimensional porous structure of aerogels and the steric hindrance effect of PEI on rGO endow PEI-functionalized rGO (rGO/PEI) aerogels with enhanced selectivity (90.7%), production rate (106.4 mmol gcat–1 h–1), and durability for H2O2 electrogeneration by the two-electron pathway of ORR.Xue Xiao, Tianjiao Wang, Juan Bai, Fumin Li, Tianyi Ma and Yu Che

And the equipment operated very well in more than one year, and the environment quality is very stable, has achieved obvious efficient
Learning Discriminative Binary Codes for Large-scale Cross-modal Retrieval
Hashing based methods have attracted considerable attention for efficient cross-modal retrieval on large-scale multimedia data. The core problem of cross-modal hashing is how to learn compact binary codes that construct the underlying correlations between heterogeneous features from different modalities. A majority of recent approaches aim at learning hash functions to preserve the pairwise similarities defined by given class labels. However, these methods fail to explicitly explore the discriminative property of class labels during hash function learning. In addition, they usually discard the discrete constraints imposed on the to-be-learned binary codes, and compromise to solve a relaxed problem with quantization to obtain the approximate binary solution. Therefore, the binary codes generated by these methods are suboptimal and less discriminative to different classes. To overcome these drawbacks, we propose a novel cross-modal hashing method, termed discrete cross-modal hashing (DCH), which directly learns discriminative binary codes while retaining the discrete constraints. Specifically, DCH learns modality-specific hash functions for generating unified binary codes, and these binary codes are viewed as representative features for discriminative classification with class labels. An effective discrete optimization algorithm is developed for DCH to jointly learn the modality-specific hash function and the unified binary codes. Extensive experiments on three benchmark data sets highlight the superiority of DCH under various cross-modal scenarios and show its state-of-the-art performance.</p
Tandem mass spectrometry of metal nitrate negative ions produced by electrospray ionization
AbstractM(NO3)x− ions are generated by electrospray ionization (ESI) of metal solutions in nitric acid in negative ion mode. Collision-induced reactions of these ions are monitored in a tandem mass spectrometer (MS) of quadrupole-octopole-quadrupole (QoQ) geometry. For Group 1and 2 elements, the M(NO3)x− ions dissociate into NO3− and neutral metal nitrate molecules. These elements also form some Mx(NO3)x+1− clusters, especially Li+. Metal nitrate ions from transition elements and Group 13 elements fragment into oxo products and also undergo internal electron transfer to leave the M atom in a lower oxidation state. To calibrate the collision energy, the dissociation energy of O-NO2− is found to be 5.55 eV, about 0.76 eV lower than a value derived from thermochemistry. The product ions from Fe(NO3)4− ions have low formation thresholds of only 0.5 to 2 eV
Inorganic and biological applications of inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry and electrospray mass spectrometry
Chapter 1 describes a new method for surface analysis of steel by controlled dissolution with aqueous acid mixtures at room temperature. The dissolved elements are diluted and determined by a magnetic sector ICP-MS device. Analyte concentrations in the solid are determined from the ratio of "(analyte ion signal)/Fe+ signal". The measured concentrations for elements like Mn, Al and W in steel agree well with the certified values, whereas those for problem elements as Nb and Ta are lower than the certified values. Laser ablation ICP-MS and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) measurements show these elements to be associated together in the solid in refractory grains that are not dissolved to the same extent as the Fe matrix.;Chapter 2 is a continuation of a previous project. The behavior of bacteria (B. subtilis) in the ICP is investigated by monitoring the time-resolved U+ signal since U is incorporated intrinsically in bacteria. Sonication of bacteria for a short period of time (5 minutes) increases the U+ response compared to the untreated sample, while further increases in sonication time do not generate more U + signal. The chromatographic results for 10 ppb U standard, partially lysed and fully lysed bacteria samples show that the U-bound species is released by sonication and small in size. The positive U+ spike effect from bacterial sample shows that bacteria behave like large particles in the ICP. The fact that desolvation of the bacteria aerosol does not eliminate the spikes suggests that they are not due to solvation. The interaction of PEEK tubing with intact bacteria is also investigated by flow injection analysis (FIA).;In Chapter 3, the formation of M(NO3)x- ions are studied by electrospray ionization (ESI) in negative mode and their collision-induced reactions are monitored in a triple quadrupole (QoQ) tandem mass spectrometer (MS). The M(NO3)x -ions dissociate into NO3- and neutral metal nitrate molecules for Group 1 and 2 elements, while transition elements and Group 13 elements fragment into oxo products and also undergo internal electron transfer. The product ions from Fe(NO3) 4- ions have low formation thresholds of only 0.5 to 2 eV.</p
