Mechanisms of high pressure hydrogen environment embrittlement in austenitic stainless steels under tensile and fatigue loading
No full textHydrogen is known to degrade the mechanical performance of many engineering materials. The effects of its entry into metal matrices from manufacturing processes and service environments has been reported previously to result in loss of ductility and fracture toughness as well as increased fatigue crack propagation rates. One of these damage mechanisms, hydrogen environment embrittlement, was explored in stainless steels in order to provide better understanding of the role of the composition and microstructure in susceptibility to the effects of high-pressure hydrogen atmosphere on tensile and fatigue performance.Current knowledge in the field has been extended by investigating the influence of a high pressure hydrogen environment on monotonic tensile failure and fatigue crack propagation processes in the austenitic stainless steels, 304L and 316L, and to explore the effects of secondary variables on damage severity (temperature, pressure, frequency). Assessment of the role of microstructure and composition on susceptibility to damage was completed by comparison of alloys’ relative performance and their fracture characteristics by conducting tensile and fatigue testing in high pressure hydrogen environment at pressures ranging from 200 to 1000 bar and temperatures between -50 and +50?C. Fatigue testing work at high pressure (above 450 bar) and in the low temperature regime was completed using equipment designed as a part of the EngD project.Testing under high pressure hydrogen environment resulted in pronounced loss in ductility and increase in fatigue crack propagation rates in both materials, 304L steel was more adversely affected in all testing conditions than 316L. The degree of damage was observed to increase with increasing hydrogen pressure and reducing temperature in both load regimes. Increased testing temperature resulted in partial recovery of global ductility measurements in tensile tests while fatigue crack propagation rates were still significantly increased.The embrittlement mechanisms differed between 304L and 316L steels due to the different phase stability and deformation mechanisms characterising these alloys. In 304L, hydrogen was seen to facilitate crack propagation along microstructural features such as slip bands, phase and twin boundaries, with some indication of the effects of localised plasticity. While some of these mechanisms were observed to be operative in 316L, it was difficult to attribute the fracture of this steel to a particular mechanism. It appears that martensite formation and planar slip processes were not the only necessary conditions for hydrogen embrittlement. Features of interfacial fracture were noted in this steel, particularly at ferrite stringers and austenite matrix, possibly indicating fracture due to local accumulation of hydrogen and consequent ferrite embrittlement and localised fracture

Quaint Fantasy. Apprehension of Michal Ajvaz as an Author of Magical Realism
Full text linkThe thesis deals with a question if it is appropriate to consider Czech writer Michal Ajvaz to be an author of magical realism. His fiction usually incorporates supernatural objects or events into a natural fictional world just as in the fiction of magical realism. The thesis analyses the nature of magic motifs and events in the studied literature, as well as literary techniques, which are used to achieve this specific kind of poetics. By examination of the canonical works of magical realism, such as the novel One Hundred Years of Solitude by G. G. Márquez, The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende or the novel Midnight Children by S. Rushdie, we can specify the structure of this literary genre and compare it to the texts of Michal Ajvaz. In a survey, we focus on two Ajvaz's early novels - the fantastic one The Other City (1993) and the philosophical prose The Golden Age (2001). Poetics of affectivity by Michal Tallo
Full text linkMichal Tallo belongs to the young generation reviving certain aspects of anesthetic poetics, which formed in Slovak poetry at the beginning of the 1990s. Anesthetic procedures are directly related to the observed aspect of emotionality in Tallo‘s work. The paper follows the male lyrical heroes from the collections Antimita (Anti-intimacy) (2016), Δ [Delta] (Delta) (2018), Kniha tmy (The Book of Darkness) (2021), and the male characters of the short story Futbal (Football) from the book Všetko je v poriadku, všade je láska (All is well, there is love everywhere) (2024). The paper focuses primarily on one element of Michal Tallo poetics, which is called "admitted affectivity." Legal and Financial Problems of International Joint Custody of Children
Full text linkThe aim of this article is to analyze very interesting and currently up-to-date area of children living in international joint custody from the legal and financial point of view. This covers the situation when custody of a child is awarded to both parents living in different states of the European Union (or also other states). The number of marriages contracted between Czech nationals and foreign nationals and also between nationals from two different states (not necessarily inside European Union) increases every year while free movement of people is a real practice today. Because these international marriages are becoming more common they bring new problems that must be solved by contemporary law. This regulation needs to result from the knowledge of the children psychology that is affecting family law the most but also has its practical aspects in the area of taxation and payment issues that will be analyzed deeply as well.juridical problems, financial problems, international joint custody, family.

Some games of this kind have a very long life cycle where the progress of each player is persistent. A match can take months, even years to finish. However, every match is very dependent on the amount of participants which is not always ideal. Different seasons of the year can cause massive drops in the amount of players. There have already been attempts to incorporate an artificial intelligence to these matches, but the goal was to provide a win condi- tion instead of fighting a decreasing player base. That is why we have started developing a framework which includes the basic mechanics of the game and al- lows customization of basic game elements such as units, resources, buildings or entire nations.
