Pohjanmaan patriootti : Artturi Leinonen eteläpohjalaisena vaikuttajana ennen talvisotaa

The focus of this study is the activity of Artturi Leinonen (1888-1963), an Ostrobothnian editor-in-chief, author and representative of the Agrarian Party, in the formation of public opinion during the 1930's. The research deals with phases of Leinonen's life from the 1910's until the outbreak of the World War II. A thorough study of the available source material makes it possible to throw light on the life-work of a so-called second class manipulator of public opinion whose importance Finnish historical research has almost totally neglected. Important records are, however, still unavailable. Leinonen's career is reconstructed and understood as part of the sociopolitical activity of his time. The corpus of Leinonen's writings, seen as a whole, and the above-mentioned goals form the matter of the research. Leinonen's greatest achievement was his significant role in stopping the rightist Lapua movement in Ostrobothnia where the movement began at the end of 1929. It was paradoxal, however, that Leinonen at first promoted the movement because of his clearly anticommunist goals but soon he became a very important opponent of the movement in his home province. Leinonen was one of the so-called activists who had been found quilty of treason against the Russian regime in 1916, and was sentenced to imprisonment in Siberia. Because of this hard experiences he strongly stuck to legal actions only in his older age. On the contrary, the Lapua movement accepted even illegal actions against communism and for the defence of the achievements of the Civil War in 1918. Leinonen' s achievement is not only in his activity as a lonely fighter in Ostrobothnia but also in his vital role in the process in which the Agrarian Party formed its attitude to the movement. Leinonen supported Prime Minister Kyosti Kallio, who roundly condemned the movement when its representatives vandalized the machinery of the printing house of the communist newspaper "Työn Ääni" in Vaasa in 1930. Leinonen's activity is a good example of how even a provincial opinion leader in a given historical situation may influence a process which deeply affects the destiny of an entire nation, and in this particular case even from within the region where the political process started.unknown accessibilityei tietoa saavutettavuudest

The purpose of this thesis is to develop the customer acquisition and customer management of Leinonen Hungary, which is part of internationally operating Leinonen Group. Thesis was written as a commission, and the target was to make a plan to increase Leinonen Hungary’s sales with more efficient customer acquisition. Also managing and segmenting existing customers was discussed. Finding new customers is a way to increase company’s market share and improve sales. The risks of business become smaller, when one big customer’s weight decreases, and the clientele grows larger. The theoretical part consists of new customer acquisition, business-to-business customer relationships and segmentation. The study involved qualitative methods. As research material I used literature, company’s websites, and interviews with the managing director, reports from Leinonen Group, and week reports from Leinonen Hungary. In the empirical part of thesis the current customer acquisition and sales operations were searched and analyses made. The material was translated and put into excel table. As a result of this study the company got analysis of the present situation, and a table that can be used as a tool to follow up development of customer relationships. The company should target on bigger customers, to increase sales, and start using some customer relationship management system.Tämän opinnäyte työn tavoite oli kehittää Leinonen Hungary:n asiakashankintaa ja nykyisten asiakkaiden hallintaa. Leinonen Hungary on osa kansainvälisesti toimivaa Leinonen Groupia.

Optimizing Liquidity Usage and Settlement Speed in Payment Systems

The operating speed of a payment system depends on the stage of technology of the system's communication and information processing environment. Frequent intraday processing cycles and real-time processing have introduced new means of speeding up the processing and settlement of payments. In a real-time environment banks face new challenges in liquidity management. They need to plan for intraday as well as interday fluctuations in liquidity. By employing various types of hybrid settlement structures, banks may be able to even out intraday fluctuations in liquidity demand. The aim of this study is to develop a framework for analysing fluctuations in liquidity demand and assessing the efficiency of different settlement systems in terms of speed and liquidity needs. In this study we quantify the relationship between liquidity usage and settlement delay in net settlement systems, real-time gross settlement systems and hybrid systems, as well as the combined costs of liquidity and delay in these systems. We analyse ways of reducing costs via optimization features such as netting of queues, offsetting of payments and splitting of payments. We employ a payment system simulator developed at the Bank of Finland, which enables us to evaluate the impact of changes in system parameters and thus to compare the effects of alternative settlement schemes with given payment flows. The data used covers 100 days of actual payments processed in the Finnish BoF-RTGS system. Our major findings relate to risk reduction via real-time settlement, effects of optimization routines in hybrid systems, and the effects of liquidity costs on banks' choice of settlement speed. A system where settlement takes place continuously in real-time and with queuing features is more efficient from the perspective of liquidity and risks than a net settlement system with batch processing. Real-time processing enables a reduction in payment delay and risks without necessarily increasing liquidity needs. Participants will operate under immediate payment/settlement if liquidity costs are low enough relative to delay costs and if the liquidity arrangements are sufficiently flexible. The central bank can therefore support risk reduction and payment speed objectives by providing low cost intraday liquidity as well as more flexible ways for participants to add or withdraw liquidity from the system. Optimizing and gridlock solving features were found to be effective at very low levels of liquidity. The efficiency of the different optimization methods for settlement systems are affected by the actual flow of payments processed. Gains from netting schemes with multiple daily netting cycles were found to be somewhat more limited.payment systems; clearing/settlement; liquidity; efficiency; gridlock

Dynamic and multidimensional supply chain resilience management framework : a future scenario approach

Abstract In today’s global business landscape, unexpected crises and changes generate turbulence within industrial supply chains (SCs). In such conditions proactive threats identification, agile responsiveness and adaptability to changes are essential capabilities for supply chain resilience (SCRes) management. To ensure high SCRes, the essential capabilities, multidimensional perspectives and role of managerial aspects need to be understood. This dissertation adopts a qualitative research approach employing the Delphi method. The main methods for data collection included semi-structured interviews, an electronic survey and workshops conducted with industrial company representatives. The findings of this dissertation show that dynamic capabilities (DCs) are essential for SCRes and related organisational resilience (ORes) of individual organisations belonging to the SCs. These create the foundation for SCRes to develop by intra- and interorganizational capabilities. A multidimensional perspective of SCRes needs to be considered at different levels and microfoundations in short- and long-term. This dissertation suggests four key microfoundations as strategic enablers to build dynamic capability and SCRes: 1) Coaching, leadership and management in organization and SC; 2) Sustainable and collaborative customer-supplier partnership and network collaboration; 3) Intra- and interorganizational communication, information sharing and AI utilization; and 4) Proactive business continuity management. Particularly the first two microfoundations of coaching, leadership and management, and collaboration and partnerships, are highlighted as accelerators for the development capabilities and SCRes. The theoretical contribution of this dissertation lies in identifying the key capabilities across the multidimensional levels of resilience and in formulating dynamic and multidimensional SCRes management framework. As a synthesis, this dissertation presents an action plan to implement dynamic and multidimensional SCRes management framework into practice. Tutkimus on Delfoi-menetelmää hyödyntävä laadullinen tutkimus.
