Recognized quiter early as one of the three components of the Indonesian anticolonial movement, the Marxist current was blocked in its autonomous development by the outlawing of the Indonesian Communist Party (1927). It had to take the directions indicated by the « nationalist » current, which prevented individual attempts at creating a workers party. The Marxist current emerged again in 1945, at the time of the proclamation of independence. The Indonesian Communist Party's search for an Indonesian theory of revolution led it to use, as of 1960, the phrase « Indonesianization of Marxism-Leninism » to express its desire to « translate » Marxism-Leninism into Indonesian and to make it the tool of an Indonesian-style socialism, which led to a new link with the « nationalist » current.
ESCUTCHEON OF THE REVOLUTION (I), by JACQUES LECLERC
The speeches made in 1962-1963 on behalf of the Communist Party of Indonesia by its Chairman D.N. Aidit are overlaid, in the context of an international communist movement in the process of open schism and, in Indonesia itself, the increasingly rapid polarisation of anti-communist forces around the army — a more and more decisive element in the machinery of State, with images and values which give the slogans which summarize it, like points in a speech, the multiple meaning of metaphors. The letter containing 25 points sent by the Chinese Communist Party to the Soviet Communist Party on 14th June 1963 serves as a theoretical focus for these tendencies ; the appeal to the solidarity and unity of the anti-imperialist combatants fits into a system of binary oppositions which base their reason on analogy in order, when the referents disperse, to reconstruct a new empire of the significant.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Inventing Indonesia
How was the concept of an Indonesian state worked out in the thinking of the nationalists who demanded independence in the first half of this century ? Can a few elements of this process be grasped by research concerning the very name of the future State — Indonesia — the definitions of its territory and of its political system ? The social element in which this conceptual effort originated must be stressed: student groups, whose members were socially privileged, capable of assimilating the colonisers' ideas and of reflecting on them. The "ruled " who, in a sense, reproduced a model inspired by the "rulers ", would not prove able to tolerate, once in power, that the "people ", in whose name they spoke, attempt to put in practice, by spontaneous revolts against civil servants having collaborated with the Dutch and then the Japanese, the "Revolution " presented in their rhetoric. Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
