    La constituency communication al tempo dei 5S: Leader e temi

    Il drastico cambio di scenario politico avvenuto con le elezioni del 4 marzo ha introdotto sostanziali elementi di novità sul piano della rappresentanza politica in termini sia di costruzione della leadership personale che di constituency communication. Questo lavoro si propone di evidenziare le caratteristiche della constituency communication al tempo dei 5S analizzando il ruolo che i 329 rappresentanti 5S si sono ritagliati nelle diverse arene per effetto delle istanze provenienti dal governo, dai territori, dai media, e dalla piattaforma Rousseau, e lo spazio comunicativo che hanno occupato nei social media, analizzando, inoltre, la comunicazione strutturata dei gruppi parlamentari. Il paper realizza una doppia comparazione: nel M5S in modalità diacronica – prendendo in osservazione due distinti periodi – e con la Lega – confrontando il M5S con la constituency communication dell’alleato/avversario. Leader e temi rappresentano qui le due direttrici principali a cui la comunicazione dei parlamentari è ancorata, nella difficile ricerca di un nuova modalità di rappresentanza.     Importance of Lorentz structure in the parton model: Target mass corrections, transverse momentum dependence, positivity bounds

    We show that respecting the underlying Lorentz structure in the parton model has very strong consequences. Failure to insist on the correct Lorentz covariance is responsible for the existence of contradictory results in the literature for the polarized structure function g2(x), whereas with the correct imposition we are able to derive the Wandzura-Wilczek relation for g2(x) and the target-mass corrections for polarized deep inelastic scattering without recourse to the operator product expansion. We comment briefly on the problem of threshold behavior in the presence of target-mass corrections. Careful attention to the Lorentz structure has also profound implications for the structure of the transverse momentum dependent parton densities often used in parton model treatments of hadron production, allowing the kT dependence to be derived explicitly. It also leads to stronger positivity and Soffer-type bounds than usually utilized for the collinear densities

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     Accessing Sivers gluon distribution via transverse single spin asymmetries in p(uparrow) p -> D X processes at BNL RHIC

    The production of D mesons in the scattering of transversely polarized protons off unpolarized protons at BNL RHIC offers a clear opportunity to gain information on the Sivers gluon distribution function. D production at intermediate rapidity values is dominated by the elementary gg --> c cbar channel; contributions from q qbar --> c cbar s-channel become important only at very large values of x(F). In both processes there is no single spin transfer, so that the final c or cbar quarks are not polarized. Therefore, any transverse single spin asymmetry observed for D's produced in p(uparrow) p interactions cannot originate from the Collins fragmentation mechanism, but only from the Sivers effect in the distribution functions. In particular, any sizable spin asymmetry measured in p(uparrow) p --> D X at midrapidity values will be a direct indication of a nonzero Sivers gluon distribution function. We study the p(uparrow) p --> DX process including intrinsic transverse motion in the parton distribution and fragmentation functions and in the elementary dynamics and show how results from RHIC could allow a measurement of Delta(N)f(g/p(uparrow))

    Parton intrinsic motion: Suppression of the Collins mechanism for transverse single spin asymmetries in p(uparrow) p -> pi X

    We consider a general formalism to compute inclusive polarized and unpolarized cross sections within pQCD and the factorization scheme, taking into account parton intrinsic motion in distribution and fragmentation functions, as well as in the elementary dynamics. Surprisingly, the intrinsic partonic motion, with all the correct azimuthal angular dependences, produces a strong suppression of the transverse single spin asymmetry arising from the Collins mechanism. As a consequence, and in contradiction with earlier claims, the Collins mechanism is unable to explain the large asymmetries found in p(uparrow) p --> pi X at moderate to large Feynman x(F). The Sivers effect is not suppressed

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Parton densities and fragmentation functions from polarized Lambda production in semi-inclusive DIS

    We consider the longitudinal polarization of Lambda and Lambdabar produced in the current fragmentation region of polarized deep inelastic scattering. We show how the various cross sections can be used to test the underlying parton dynamics, and how one can extract information about certain parton densities which are poorly known, in particular the polarized strange density sum Delta-s(x) + Delta-sbar(x), and about fragmentation functions Dq(Lambda) and DeltaD(q)(Lambda) which are totally unknown and which are difficult to access by other means. We show also how one can obtain information concerning the intriguing question as to whether s(x) = sbar(x) and whether Delta-s(x) = Delta-sbar(x)

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
