Two-dimensional effects in the problem of tearing modes control by electron cyclotron current drive
The design of means to counteract robustly the classical and neoclassical tearing modes in a tokamak by localized injection of an external control current requires an ever growing understanding of the physical process, beyond the Rutherford-type zero-dimensional models. Here a set of extended magnetohydrodynamic nonlinear equations for four continuum fields is used to investigate the two-dimensional effects in the response of the reconnecting modes to specific inputs of the localized external current. New information is gained on the space- and time-dependent effects of the external action on the two-dimensional structure of magnetic islands, which is very important to formulate applicable control strategies.</jats:p

Attendance to cultural events and spousal influences: the Italian case
In cultural consumption it is quite reasonable to expect that the formation and theevolution of preferences, and the related individual choice behaviour, is affected byvarious interactions within families, peer and other social groups. Our investigationfocuses on a specific form of “indirect” interaction effect, that is the reciprocalinfluence that a married person’s preferences and characteristics can have on thecultural consumption of her/his partner. Using the last two available nationwide crosssectiondatasets on the leisure activities of the Italian population (ISTAT, 1995 and2000), we estimate the mutual influence of spouses’s educational and culturalbackground, besides other factors, on the consumption of three kinds of culturalactivities, namely museum/exhibition, theatre, and opera and classical music concerts.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishe
Magnetic island evolution under the action of electron cyclotron current drive
The magnetic island evolution under the action of an externally current generated by electron cyclotron (ECCD) wave beams is studied using a reduced resistive magnetohydrodynamics (RRMHD) plasma model. We found interesting and somewhat unexpected features of the actual nonlinear 2-D evolution of the magnetic perturbation depending on the injection time of the radio frequency control. In particular in the linear phase of the magnetic island growth we observe that the complete annihilation of the island width is followed by a spatial phase shift of the island, referred as «flip»instability. On the other hand, a current drive deposition in the Rutherford regime can be accompained by the occurrence of a Kelvin-Helmholtz type shear flow instability, responsible for the onset of a plasma turbulent behavio

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
