No full textIl volume raccoglie gli interventi presentati alla giornata di studi organizzata presso l'Università di Parma, in occasione del trentesimo anniversario della Convenzione ONU per i diritti dell'infanzia e dell'adolescenza. Oltre ogni intento puramente celebrativo, il testo ha il pregio d'illustrare una varietà di prospettive multidisciplinari, da quella storica, pedagogica e sociologica a quella giuridica e geografica. Sguardi prettamente interdisciplinari s'intrecciano quindi a testimonianze dirette ed esperienze sul campo. La contaminazione tra i diversi linguaggi, le prospettive teorico-metodologiche, i contesti educativi e gli ambiti scientifico-disciplinari favorisce così la fruizione da parte di un pubblico non solo accademico e non interessato unicamente alla rivendicazione di appartenenze a campi epistemologici particolari. Tale varietà culturale e scientifica lascia infatti spazio a una vivace pluralità di dati e riflessioni sul tema, contribuendo a un dialogo fecondo e problematizzante sui diritti dell'infanzia e dell'adolescenza e alla possibilità, dunque, di favorire progressivamente la loro più piena e autentica attuazione o, almeno, una prospettiva critico-riflessiva che ne renda visibili gli impliciti e le contraddizioni, i limiti e le potenzialità di sviluppo

No full text“Charles Baudelaire intimo” viene pubblicato per la prima volta nel 1911, postumo. È un ritratto del grande poeta francese da parte di un amico, Gaspard-Félix Tournachon, universalmente noto come Nadar, che è anche uno dei più grandi fotografi. «Glorificare il culto delle immagini, mia grande, unica, primitiva passione!» scrive Baudelaire ne “Il mio cuore messo a nudo”. Il sodalizio fra i due geni resiste in virtù della vocazione/devozione per l’immagine, religione per entrambi, diversamente professata. Da Nadar con le magnifiche sorti della scienza e della tecnica. Baudelaire, invece, estraneo addirittura a se stesso. Lo “scrittore della vita moderna” tollera la vita moderna solo se mediata dall’arte, perché la vita che non è arte, inerte conseguenza della natura, lasciata all’incuria, non può essere altro che bruttezza esteriore e interiore..
The More the Years the Less the Food: Alvise Cornaro on The Sober Life (1558)
No full textAs in 1558 the Venetian Luigi Cornaro (1484–1566)1 wrote the first "Discorso sulla Vita Sobria", the Galenic paradigm was still undisputed in the professional and popular medical culture and it is well recognizable in the notions that Cornaro expounds and in the advice he dispenses: as man grows older, he must reduce the amount of food and beverages consumed, so as not to fatigue the digestive system, avoid humoural imbalance and preserve, ultimately, a better state of health. What has made this book so renowned, according to scholars, is the mix of autobiographical narrative, human sympathy and moral rigour, But I believe that there is also a more specific aspect in the work that catalyses the reader’s attention and distinguishes Cornaro’s Discourse. Such is the issue of the amount of food in relation to the age of man and its moral and symbolic implications, direct and indirect, which the author reiterated and declined in different ways throughout the work

No full textThe paper examines Alessandro Valignano’s Advertimentos e avisos acerca dos costumes e catangues de Jappao (“Warnings and notices about the customs and manners of Japan”, 1583), a manual that provides directives for Jesuit missionaries in Japan. The work comprises a list of guidelines to behave in every public and domestic situation “in the Japanese way”, since the author believed this was a chance for Jesuit missionaries to be taken seriously by Japanese people and, therefore, convert them to Christianity. The Advertimentos serves as a critical resource for Jesuit adaptation, revealing Valignano’s commitment to understanding and integrating into Japanese culture while navigating the complexities of cross-cultural interactions within the Jesuit mission. In this context, Valignano’s observations on good manners and gestures of social relationships are particularly highlighted, as they are among the first direct testimonies of how the Catholic European culture of the late Renaissance perceived Japanese culture during the Tokugawa era

No full textVespasiano Gonzaga, first and last Duke of Sabbioneta, built his small ideal city between 1554 to 1590. One of his ambitious projects being for his Duchy to become a “cathedral of learning”, he provided it with schools and a public library. He also owned a private library which reflected his own leanings and needs and represented the coeval trend of aristocratic education, increasingly interested in science, to the detriment of literature and, in particular, theological matters. The article investigates along these lines, presenting Vespasiano Gonzaga’s scientifical books
