Self-Portraits by Laura Lopez Taken from the Imagery within the Pictorial Languages of the Mind
No full textabstract: As am artist, I am primarily interested in the representation of the human form. I am most interested in self-portraiture, which serves as a tool to better understand my perception of myself and how it fluctuates based on context. Each self-portrait is indicative of my reactions to the world around me and also to dreams, by which I mean the involuntary experiences that occur while we sleep or are unaware of the physical world around us. I tend to take a Freudian approach to understand the concepts of the subconscious mind and dreams. I also use pattern and design elements in my work to serve backgrounds for my figures. These hold symbolic significance and illustrate the idea of using dreams as a source for my imagery
En la periferia de la textualidad literaria: la tecnopoesía
No full textExperimental poetry produces particular forms of knowledge that differ from conventional literary cartographies of representation and they require alternative readership. This study examines two technotexts by two Latin American authors who have contributed with major ideo-aesthetic breakthroughs. Technopoetry as we will see, dwells in the limits of textuality, literary discursivity and the canon. Complex styles of writing, such as IP Poetry by Gustavo Romano and “Cypher” by Eduardo Kac, recycle languages (written, oral, DNA, computer programs, sound, image), while activating the participatory, and paradoxically, the autopoetic nature of the poem, removing the boundaries between process and product, and challenging authorship and readership expectations. Democratization as well as manipulation of different languages and technologies is an integral aspect of technopoetry, which activates from the margins a new politics of representation and contributes to the reconceptualization of poetry.La poesía experimental produce modos de conocimiento que difieren de las cartografías convencionales de representación y a su vez requieren modos de lectura alternativos. En este estudio se exploran tecnotextos de dos autores latinoamericanos que han creado nuevos modos de escritura. La tecnopoesía, como veremos, vive en los límites de la textualidad, la discursividad y el canon literario. IP Poetry de Gustavo Romano, y “Cypher” de Eduardo Kac, reciclan lenguajes escritos, orales, genéticos (ADN), lenguaje computacional, sonido, imagen, etc., al tiempo que activan la participación del lector y, paradójicamente, la naturaleza autopoética del poema, eliminando distancias entre proceso y producto y desafiando las expectativas de autoría y lectura. La democratización y manipulación de diversos lenguajes y tecnologías es un aspecto integral de la tecnopoesía que activa desde los márgenes, una nueva política de representación y contribuye a la reconceptualización de la poesía.
