No full textSyftet med denna uppsats är att studera kompositören Lars-Erik Larssons (1908-1986)originalmusik till spelfilmen Laila. Studien går ut på att analysera musiken i filmen för att se om den kan inordnas i de traditionella begrepp som används inom filmmusiken. För att sätta in studien i ett större sammanhang finns det också en kort biografi över Lars-Erik Larsson. I samma syfte finns det också en beskrivning av utvecklingen inom filmområdet och speciellt perioden 1941-1958 under vilken Larsson skrev filmmusik. Analysen visar att musiken i Laila, inspelad 1958 och Larssons sista filmkomposition, kan inordnas i de olika filmmusikaliska begrepp som redovisas detaljerat i studien. Analysen visar också att musiken kan sammanfattas i tre huvuddelar. Filmen börjar med en förtextmusik skriven på Larssons traditionella sätt i ABA-form. Sedan finns det en stor mängd funktionsmusik fördelad på stämningsmusik och illustrationsmusik. Slutligen finns det några melodiska teman som används i filmens romantiska scener. Ingen av dessa melodier har dock getts ut i särtryck vilket förekommer i en del andra filmer som Larsson har komponerat musik till. Slutsatsen är att Larssons musik till filmen Laila är skriven efter ett tidstypiskt mönster och att den fungerar väl tillsammans med filmen. Studien visar också att Larsson hade förmågan att prestera ett bra resultat på beställning och i en tidspressad situation. Det är min uppfattning att musiken i Laila på ett påtagligt sätt höjer behållningen av filmen och jag menar också att helheten blir större än summan av delarna
