Demography, Growth, and Robots in Advanced and Emerging Economies
No full textThis paper provides estimates of the impact of demographic change on labor productivity growth, relying on annual data during 1961–2018 for a panel of 90 advanced and emerging economies. We find that increases in both the young and old population shares have significantly negative effects on labor productivity growth, working via various channels—including physical and human capital accumulation. Splitting the analysis for advanced and emerging economies shows that population aging has a greater effect on emerging economies than on advanced economies. Extending the benchmark model to include a proxy for the robotization of production, we find evidence indicating that automation reduces the negative effects of unfavorable demographic change—in particular, population aging—on labor productivity growth

Didattica e ricerca. L’esperienza del Laboratorio aragonese e sforzesco
No full textIn the workshop on Diplomatic correspondences in the Italian Renaissance, directed in January-May 2018 by Francesco Storti and Francesco Senatore in the Istituto italiano per gli studi filosofici of Naples, 12 undergraduate and graduate students learned to read and trascribe italian diplomatic dispatches of the 15th cent., producing a specimen of scientific edition. In the opinion of the author, such activities and similar ones are very useful for future school teachers and scholars and they could be introduced in the university and pHD courses of history. Students of humanistic sciences should have concrete contacts with the historical research on primary sources. On the other hand, editing of historical sources could become a marginal activity because it is not enough appreciated in the current research evaluation processes.

Anselmi ha progettato un affascinante allestimento, concependolo come un percorso che si
sviluppa attraverso tre soste utili all’ammirazione delle opere. L’autore Francesco Murano,
spiega con ricchezza di particolari i vincoli del progetto illuminotecnico e le scelte luministiche.Once again, for the Christmas season, the Municipally of Milan decided to display an important work in the frame of the Palazzo Marino’s Alessi Hall. For this year 2014, the choice has been to propose the Estheràzy Madonna by Raphael, from the Museum of Budapest.
The exhibition curator, Stefano Zuffi, wanted to critically frame to work of Raphael by placing it between the Vegine delle Rocce (Virgin of the Rocks) by Francesco Melzi, coming from the Milan’s Istituto delle Suore Orsoline, and the Madonna della Rosa by Giovanni Boltraffio, from the Milanese Museo Poldi Pezzoli.
The Architect Corrado Anselmi designed a fascinating display, convinced as a path that develops through three stops that are useful for the enjoyment of the works.

The Water Polymorphism and the Liquid–Liquid Transition from Transport Data
No full textNMR spectroscopic literature data are used, in a wide temperature-pressure range (180–350 K and 0.1–400 MPa), to study the water polymorphism and the validity of the liquid–liquid transition (LLT) hypothesis. We have considered the self-diffusion coefficient DS and the reorientational correlation time τθ (obtained from spin-lattice T1 relaxation times), measured, respectively, in bulk and emulsion liquid water from the stable to well inside the metastable supercooled region. As an effect of the hydrogen bond (HB) networking, the isobars of both these transport functions evolve with T by changing by several orders of magnitude, whereas their pressure dependence become more and more pronounced at lower temperatures. Both these transport functions were then studied according to the Adam–Gibbs model, typical of glass forming liquids, obtaining the water configurational entropy and the corresponding specific heat contribution. The comparison of the evaluated CP,conf isobars with the experimentally measured water specific heat reveals the full consistency of this analysis. In particular, the observed CP,conf maxima and its diverging behaviors clearly reveals the presence of the LLT and with a reasonable approximation the liquid–liquid critical point (LLCP) locus in the phase diagram

The author of this essay, Francesco Spampinato, is also the editor of this major retrospective monograph on Slavin's work
