Modeling link adaptation algorithm for IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN networks
No full textLink adaptation is a critical component of IEEE 802.11 systems. In this paper, we analytically model a retransmission based Auto Rate Fallback (ARF) link adaptation algorithm. Both packet collisions and packet corruptions are modeled with the algorithm. The models can provide insights into the dynamics of the link adaptation algorithms and configuration of algorithms parameters. It is also observed that when the competing number of stations is high, packet collisions can largely affected the performance of ARF and make ARF operate with the lowest date rate, even when no packet corruption occur. This is in contrast to the existing assumption that packet collision will not affect the correct operation of ARF and can be ignored in the evaluation of ARF. The work presented in this paper can provide guidelines on configuring the link adaptation algorithms and designing new link adaptation algorithms for future high speed 802.11 systems
Fractal Analysis of Intraflow Unidirectional Delay over W-LAN and W-WAN Environments
No full textWe have analysed unidirectional delay traces of a diverse set of IPv6 microflows routed over W-LAN and W-WAN environments. Using a number of time-domain and frequency-domain estimators we have examined the existence and intensity of long-range dependence in packet delay when viewed as time-series data. The correlation structures of packet delay on bulk TCP data path and UDP flows follow asymptotic decay while Hurst exponent estimates suggest from moderate to strong intensity(H->1)

Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy. Dr. Frank A. No full textImproving the performance of outbreak detection algorithms by classifying the levels of disease incidence
No full textWe evaluated a novel strategy to improve the performance of outbreak detection algorithms, namely setting the alerting threshold separately in each region according to the disease incidence in that region. By using data on hand, foot and mouth disease in Shandong province, China, we evaluated the impact of disease incidence on the performance of outbreak detection algorithms (EARS-C1, C2 and C3). Compared to applying the same algorithm and threshold to the whole region, setting the optimal threshold in each region according to the level of disease incidence (i.e., high, middle, and low) enhanced sensitivity (C1: from 94.4% to 99.1%, C2: from 93.5% to 95.4%, C3: from 91.7% to 95.4%) and reduced the number of alert signals (the percentage of reduction is C1?4.3%, C2?11.9%, C3?10.3%). Our findings illustrate a general method for improving the accuracy of detection algorithms that is potentially applicable broadly to other diseases and regions

In the proposed manual are systematized applications of various physical factors (ultrasonic waves, magnetic fields and optical streams, local exhaustion - vacuum, electric impulses and mechanical oscillations) in cosmetology and esthetic medicine. The described technique of the mixed and combined use of these factors in integrated programs of face care, are considered the common principles and are made concrete recommendations about face care. The practical techniques of skin care are described, developed and approved by employees of SMC "Medical Innovative Technologies" about devices of characteristic production.

INTRODUCTION
Our long-term experience of efficient physical methods application in medical rehabilitation and cosmetology, numerous researches conducted in the leading scientific centers of the world, on the determination of magnetic fields action mechanism, an optical stream, electric currents and ultrasonic fluctuations on biological tissue.
All these investigations have stimulated the development of recent trends in a hardware cosmetology and the creation of high-performance technologies of facial and body care, for the purpose of delay of the aging processes in a human body and providing their attractive esthetic look. In the technologies developed by us, there are three principles. Firstly: a systemic many-level approach to the definition of the main influence zones, while setting procedure. Secondly: physiologically reasonable choice of physical factors, for restitution of work on biological systems of a human body. Thirdly: physiologically reasonable resonance principle of a parameters choice is a form of a signal, its amplitude or power, frequency of modulation or duration of an impulse, spectral range and others.
Today it is hard to find at least one expert, who is working in a cosmetology and would call into question high performance of the application of a machine cosmetology in the fight for beauty, a retardation of aging and preservations of youth. The hardware cosmetology gives the chance not only to improve the appearance of the skin but also to restore the natural mechanism of work of the functional systems responsible for the skin, fat deposits and muscular tissue.
For the achievement of optimal result on the care of person, neck and “decollete” zone of at implementation of procedures with the use of vehicle methods the observance of the next basic stages needed:
Cleaning and deintoxication skin and organism on the whole. An improvement of microcirculation of liquid is in the zone of influence.
An improvement of innervation of the skin is within the area of influence. Stimulation of exchange processes is in a skin and muscles (functional systems related to them), improvement of their feed and satiation water.
Protection of skin from external influences using masks and creams.
In case of physical factors application in cosmetology it is necessary to observe next basic principles:
Physiology - procedure choice determined by the state of the skin, problems with her normal functioning, task and expected result that you want to get, presence of vehicle facilities, that provides influence the set physical factor with parameters optimal for normalization of the function of the certain physiological system.
Adequacy of influence is a choice of a physical factor and methodology of realization of procedure must correspond to adaptation possibilities of the organism of the client.
Complexity and system of vehicle cosmetology - a procedural complex must provide affecting different systems of the organism. To envisage not only local but also reflex affecting internal organs, the aesthetic state of skin and muscles of the face of client depends on work of that.
Early use - reasonable application of physical factors in the early stages considerably improves results and abbreviates a number of procedures.
Sequence - the variety of application of procedures it is necessary to choose, taking into account the pre-arranged effect, synergism, at the action of different physical factors and results of previous procedures.
Periodicity - depending on the state of the skin and her rehabilitation potential originally conducted 5-15 procedures. Procedures, as a rule, are conducted 2-3 times per a week. An interruption between procedures must be about 2-4 weeks. Subsequent "supporting" procedures conducted 3-5 one time per a month.
Optimal dosages - appointing duration of manipulation to take into account the criteria of power/dose/effect and physiological features of work of the organism.
The dynamic quality of the use - to avoid getting of organism used to influence, during all course it is necessary to change the parameters of the recipe of procedures depending on the physiological features of the zone of procedure and her reaction on a physical factor.
Individual approach - it is desirable to take into account biological rhythms, type of skin, her state, sexual and age-related features of clients while setting procedures. It is crucial to consider the psychosomatic state of client and presence of syndrome of the hidden depression or chronic tiredness while drafting the program of face care.
Psychosomatic correction - often it is enough customers with the syndromes of the hidden depression or chronic tiredness are present; it reduces the efficiency of the conducted procedures considerably. For indemnification of it providing the maximal comfort level of realization of procedures and application is needed in the complex program of physical factors and modes, offering indemnification of the hidden depression and decline of the degree of the syndrome of chronic tiredness.
Relaxation - the deeper relaxation for a client, the more efficient procedure. Optimal is a variant when a client sleeps during the procedure.
Decrease of negative indications level - before the beginning of procedures and after every cleaning procedure, it is necessary to execute cleaning of facial skin alkaline solutions (Ph no less than 5,5), to execute the massage of zone of venous outflow (from a mastoid to the connected zone) in the flow of 1-2 minutes from every side and in every 30-40 minutes of work with a customer, to execute the easy massage of lymph nodes of person in a flow 0,5 - 1 minutes from every side.
Care of person with the use of the techniques and vehicles, worked out by a firm "Мединтех" (Medintech), are the newest technologies of effective work in cosmetology. Kościoły bożogrobców w Małopolsce. Z badań nad patrociniami i relikwiami (XII–XVI w.)
No full textThe author presents the findings of his own studies on the presence of relics and dedications in the churches of Canons Regular of the Holy Sepulchre in medieval Polonia Minor (covering the former Krakow and Sandomierz voivideships). The article reveals important accounts in Samuel Nakielski’s chronicle. The first account relates bringing the soil from Jerusalem by Jaksa and is known in literature. The second account concerns the possession of the relics of the Holy Cross by the monastery of Canons Regular of the Holy Sepulchre, hitherto unknown in literature. The author formulates a thesis on the existence of important relics of the Passion in the Miechów monastery. Key source accounts on dedications were analysed. It was indicated that the primary dedication of the Miechów church towards the end of the 18th century was a combined invocation of the Holy Sepulchre, the Holy Spirit and Blessed Virgin Mary. The author also extensively analyses the dedication of the church in Żarnowiec, with dedications to both feasts related to the Holy Cross, to the Holy Spirit, the Holy Sepulchre and Blessed Virgin Mary. The dedications of 10 other churches administered by Canons Regular of the Holy Sepulchre are also discussed. In addition, the author presents a substantial collection of data on the dedications of surviving altars and chapels in relation to the Miechów church and St Jadwiga’s Church in Stradom. In conjunction with the information on numerous relics of saints, the findings should become a departure point for further studies.Autor przedstawia wyniki własnych badań źródłowych nad zagadnieniem obecności relikwii oraz wezwań występujących w kościołach zakonu bożogrobców, znajdujących się w średniowiecznej Małopolsce (na obszarze województw krakowskiego i sandomierskiego). W artykule zostały ujawnione ważne przekazy w kronice Samuela Nakielskiego. Pierwszy przekaz, znany w literaturze, dotyczy przywiezienia przez Jaksę ziemi z Jerozolimy. Drugi przekaz – o posiadaniu przez klasztor bożogrobców relikwii św. Krzyża – nie był dotychczas omawiany w literaturze. Autor stawia tezę o istnieniu w klasztorze miechowskim ważnych relikwii związanych z Męką Pańską. Analizie zostały poddane najważniejsze przekazy źródłowe o wezwaniach. Wskazano, że wezwanie główne kościoła miechowskiego przybrało pod koniec XIII wieku złożoną dedykację do Grobu Bożego, Ducha Świętego i N. Marii Panny. Wiele miejsca autor poświęcił również analizie wezwania kościoła w Żarnowcu, gdzie wystąpiły wezwania do obu świąt związanych z Krzyżem św., do Ducha Świętego, Grobu Pańskiego i N. Marii Panny. Omówione zostały także wezwania pozostałych 10 kościołów administrowanych przez bożogrobców. Autor przedstawił także bogate dane o wezwaniach ołtarzy i kaplic, które zachowały się w odniesieniu do kościoła w Miechowie i kościoła św. Jadwigi na Stradomiu. Wraz z informacjami o licznych relikwiach świętych powinny one stać się punktem wyjścia do dalszych badań

No full textOddajemy kolejną książkę poświęconą Dziecku w historii – między godnością a zniewoleniem, będącą pokłosiem międzynarodowej konferencji naukowej, w trakcie której dyskutowano o godności i zniewoleniu dziecka. Pierwszy tom opisujący dzieje dziecka został zatytułowany Dziecko w historii – wątek korczakowski. Kolejny był związany z jubileuszem 1050. rocznicy Chrztu Polski i ukazał się pod tytułem Dziecko w historii – w kręgu kultury chrześcijańskiej. Celem trzeciego było upamiętnienie 100. rocznicy odzyskania przez Polskę niepodległości, jego tytuł Dziecko w historii - sytuacja dziecka w odrodzonym państwie polskim. Obecna monografia Dziecko w historii jest powiązana z jubileuszem 40-lecia istnienia Katedry/Zakładu Historii Wychowania Wydziału Nauk o Edukacji Uniwersytetu w Białymstoku. Akcentując wątek jubileuszowy Katedry Historii Wychowania zaprosiliśmy też ekspertów różnych dyscyplin naukowych do kolejnej dysputy akademickiej, tym razem poświęconej godności osobowej, osobowościowej i osobistej dziecka w sytuacji zniewolenia, utraty wolności, swobody – całkowitej zależności od innych. Głównym celem książki Dziecko w historii – między godnością a zniewoleniem jest próba odpowiedzi na pytania: Jakie były i są źródła praw człowieka? Czy godność jednostki była i jest nadal wartością? Jakie w przeszłości były i są współcześnie przyczyny zniewolenia jednostki? Dlaczego dochodzi do ograniczania wolności człowieka i tłamszenia jego godności? Poszukiwanie odpowiedzi na sformułowane pytania jest o tyle ważne, że godność człowieka w naszej kulturze stanowi fundament przyjmowanej powszechnie koncepcji człowieka. Tymczasem we współczesnym świecie, zdeterminowanym głównie przez czynniki polityczne i gospodarcze oparte na modelu neoliberalnego kapitalizmu, następuje pogłębianie różnic społeczno-ekonomicznych prowadzących do poszerzania przestrzeni i grup wykluczenia oraz relatywizacji i dewaluacji samej idei poszanowania godności ludzkiej. Lista zagadnień, które stały się przedmiotem analizy jest szeroka, nie zamyka się w ciasnych ramach subdyscyplin pedagogicznych, a ich przekaz ma wymiar interdyscyplinarny, wieloaspektowy i międzynarodowy. Autorami poszczególnych rozdziałów monografii są eksperci różnych dyscyplin naukowych: filozofii i teologii, pedagogiki, historii, prawa i socjologii z Polski i z różnych ośrodków zagranicznych: Albanii, Anglii, i Włoch. Układ książki jest chronologiczno – problemowy. Ze względu na objętość i wielość zgłoszonych rozpraw prezentujemy je w dwóch odrębnych tomach składających się z dwóch części zatytułowanych: Część I - Katedra Historii Wychowania i jej inicjatywy promujące godność człowieka, Część II -Między godnością a zniewoleniem. Część pierwsza obejmuje dwa rozdziały. W rozdziale pierwszym zaprezentowano dzieje powołania Zakładu Historii Wychowania i jego twórcę, prezentacji rozwoju i dokonań białostockiej szkoły historii wychowania oraz nowe kierunki i perspektywy badań. W rozdziale drugim autorzy zaakcentowali wątek jubileuszu 40-lecia Katedry/Zakładu Historii Wychowania. Część druga została podzielona na cztery rozdziały. Pierwszy z nich obejmuje naukowe rozważania nad zdefiniowaniem godności w pedagogice personalistycznej, działalności wychowawczej. Autorzy wskazują na potrzebę wykreowania ideologii negocjacji i równoważenia dialogu wewnętrznego i zewnętrznego, dowodzą, że zmieniające się uwarunkowania społeczno – kulturowe życia nie mogą wymusić zmiany w interpretacji godności dziecka. Poddają analizie ochronę praw dziecka w prawie międzynarodowym i regulacjach krajowych oraz wskazują na przejawy zniewolenia, które stanowią zagrożenie dla wolności, a tym samym godności osobowej, godności osobowościowej, jak i godności osobistej człowieka na różnych etapach jego rozwoju. Autorzy artykułów rozdziału drugiego podjęli rozważania nad lepszym zrozumieniem dzieciństwa i sytuacji dzieci z różnych warstw społecznych, o różnych potrzebach edukacyjnych i doświadczeniach. Ukazali jak w sposób praktyczny wprowadzano inicjatywy skierowane do dzieci. W trzecim rozdziale autorzy przedstawili ideę budowania autonomii uczniowskiej z perspektywy edukacji wczesnoszkolnej, ukazali genezę i założenia prawa do edukacji w kontekście Konwencji o Prawach Dziecka. Podjęli refleksję nad godnościowym wymiarem edukacji międzykulturowej w świetle regulacji prawa międzynarodowego, europejskiego i polskiego, kwestie dotyczące znaczenia pielęgnowania pokoju w edukacji poprzez nauczanie praw człowieka uczniów szkół średnich oraz tworzenie wzorów osobowych. Czwarty rozdział prezentuje artykuły młodych adeptów nauki poświęcone obronie godności i praw dziecka, kierunków postępowania w zakresie ochrony, pomocy i wsparcia z perspektywy regulacji prawnych, wskazań medycznych i wychowawczych. Mamy nadzieję, że książka spotka się z szerokim zainteresowaniem ekspertów nauk społecznych i humanistycznych, a także władz oświatowych i nauczycieli oraz rodziców bowiem w polskiej historiografii wciąż odczuwa się niedosyt prac badawczych związanych z dzieckiem i jego dziejami na przestrzeni wieków.We present another book devoted to the Child in history - between dignity and enslavement, which was the aftermath of an international scientific conference, during which the dignity and enslavement of the child was discussed. The first volume describing the history of the child is entitled Child in history - korczakowski's plot. The next one was related to the 1050th anniversary of the Baptism of Poland and appeared under the title Child in history - in the circle of Christian culture. The purpose of the third one was to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Poland regaining independence, its title Child in history - the situation of a child in the reborn Polish state. The current monograph Child in history is related to the 40th anniversary of the Chair / Department of History of Education at the Faculty of Educational Sciences at the University of Bialystok. Emphasizing the jubilee theme of the Department of the History of Education, we also invited experts from various scientific disciplines to another academic debate, this time devoted to the personality and personal dignity of a child in a situation of enslavement, loss of freedom, liberty - complete dependence on others. The main goal of the book A child in history - between dignity and enslavement is an attempt to answer the following questions: What were and are the sources of human rights? Has the dignity of the individual been and still is a value? What were and are the reasons for the enslavement of an individual in the past and what are they today? Why are human freedom limited and dignity suppressed?The search for answers to the formulated questions is important because human dignity in our culture is the foundation of the commonly accepted human concept. Meanwhile, in the contemporary world, determined mainly by political and economic factors based on the model of neoliberal capitalism, there is an increase in socio-economic differences leading to the expansion of the space and groups of exclusion, as well as relativization and devaluation of the very idea of respecting human dignity. The list of issues that have become the subject of analysis is wide, not limited to the narrow framework of pedagogical sub-disciplines, and their message has an interdisciplinary, multifaceted, and international dimension. The authors of the individual chapters of the monograph are experts from various scientific disciplines: philosophy and theology, pedagogy, history, law, and sociology from Poland and from foreign centers: Albania, England, and Italy. The layout of the book is chronological and problematic. Due to the volume and multiplicity of the dissertations submitted, we present them in two separate volumes consisting of two parts entitled: Part I - Department of the History of Upbringing and its initiatives promoting human dignity, Part II - Between dignity and enslavement. The first part consists of two chapters. The first chapter presents the history of the establishment of the Department of the History of Education and its founder, the presentation of the development and achievements of the Bialystok School of the History of Education, as well as new directions and perspectives for research. In the second chapter, the authors emphasized the 40th anniversary of the Chair / Department of the History of Education. The second part is divided into four chapters. The first one includes scientific considerations on the definition of dignity in personalistic pedagogy and educational activity. The authors point to the need to create an ideology of negotiation and to balance internal and external dialogue, they argue that the changing social and cultural conditions of life cannot force a change in the interpretation of the dignity of a child. They analyze the protection of children's rights in international law and national regulations and point to the manifestations of slavery that pose a threat to freedom, and thus to personality dignity, and personal dignity at various stages of human development. The authors of the second chapter articles considered a better understanding of childhood and the situation of children from different social strata, with different educational needs and experiences. They showed how initiatives aimed at children were implemented in a practical way. In the third chapter, the authors presented the idea of building student autonomy from the perspective of early childhood education, showed the genesis and assumptions of the right to education in the context of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. They reflect on the dignity dimension of intercultural education in the light of international, European, and Polish law, issues related to the importance of nurturing peace in education by teaching human rights to high school students and creating role models. The fourth chapter presents articles by young science students devoted to defending the dignity and rights of children, directions of conduct in the field of protection, assistance, and support from the perspective of legal regulations, medical and educational indications. Large pi-systems containing W-N=N-W groups

The compound Cl-W(Mes)3-N=N-W(Mes)3-Cl can polymerize, giving large inorganic pi systems containing N2 and W(Mes)3 where Mes=mesityl. Some of these compounds have been studied in the present paper using B3LYP functional. A description of the molecular orbitals from the pi system is given, explaining the role of the mesityl groups, the terminal chlorines and the d atomic orbitals from W in the whole conjugated system. Tibet: Motuo, the fourth national survey on Chinese materia medica resources, coniferous forest, meadows; 29°41′46.4″N, 95°32′03.95″E, ca. 2600m a.s.l., 2 July 2016, M. T . Li & X. Z . Lan 542624150702036 LY (holotype SWU). Diagnosis:— Euphorbia motuogensis is similar to Euphorbia sikkimensis, but it differs by its pileous stems, secondary involucral leaves absent, 3 yellow green cyathophylls, margin entire or concave in the middle and five similar glands. Herbs, 20–80 cm tall. Root terete, 20–40 cm × 3–5 mm. Stems single or clustered, 3–7 mm thick, mostly unbranched, pileous. Leaves alternate, all but lowermost uniform in size; stipules absent; petiole very short to almost absent; leaf blade ovate-oblong to elliptic, 3–6 × 1.5–2.5 cm, glabrous, base attenuate-cuneate, margin entire, apex obtuse; midrib prominent on both surfaces, lateral veins slender, lateral veins not reaching margin. Inflorescence a terminal pseudumbel; primary involucral leaves usually one round, 5 pecies, even two rounds, the second round involucral leaves usually 3, green, leaves long elliptic to ovate-elliptic, somewhat unequal, 3–4 × 1.5–2.5 cm, base attenuatecuneate, apex obtuse, primary rays 7 (8), 2–4 cm; secondary involucral leaves absent. Cyathophylls 3, yellow green, broad ovate, 1–1.4 × 1–1.2 cm, margin entire or concave in the middle, base and apex rounded. Cyathium; involucre campanulate, ca. 3.5–5× 5–5.5mm, 5 lobes, rounded; glands 5, rounded, densely pilose on the inside. Male flowers many, most exserted from involucre. Female flower: ovary pedicellate and extended out of cup, smooth, glabrous; styles free, style arms slightly 2-lobed. Capsule globose, ca. 5 × 5 mm, smooth, glabrous. Ovary 3-loculed with parietal placentation. Fl. and fr. Jun.–Oct. Etymology:— The specific epithet refers to Motuo, Tibet, China, the type locality of the new species. Distribution and Habitat:— Euphorbia motuogensis is currently known only from its type locality, i.e. the fourth national survey on Chinese materia medica resources. It grows at coniferous forest and meadows at an elevation of ca. 2600 m a.s.l. Phenology:— Flowering and fruiting were observed in June to October.
