Our research focuses on the analysis of short stories by Isabel-Clara Simó. Although most of her narrative work is based on the parameters of psychological literature, the search for the expression of the characters’ solitude in the midst of the difficulties in their environment offers us an intimate tension within a wide scope of situations. As a general rule, Isabel-Clara Simó focuses her stories mainly on denouncing situations of women’s oppression. In her book, La salvatge (1994) and Dones (1999), the author introduces the image of current urban women where they are depicted as victims of their partners
The article presents a review of the main reflections on the Catalan language that the writer Isabel-Clara Simó has done in various journalistic and essayistic texts. The author defends a common linguistic area in all the territories that speak the same language and makes a determined denunciation for all the obstacles that are generated in the normalization of the social use of the language

Abstract 4784: Effect of epigenetic drugs on chromatin remodeling complexes disrupted in cancer
Barcelona conference on epigenetics and cancer: 50 years of histone acetylation
The Barcelona Conference on Epigenetics and Cancer (BCEC) was held in Barcelona, Spain, on October 1 and 2 , 2014. The meeting was co-organized by the Cancer Epigenetics and Biology Program (PEBC-IDIBELL) and B·Debate, an initiative of Biocat, with the support of 'la Caixa' Foundation. The scientific committee was comprised of leading scientists in the field of epigenetics: Dr. Manel Esteller, director of PEBC-IDIBELL, Dr. Alejandro Vaquero and Dr. Esteban Ballestar, from PEBC-IDIBELL, Juan Ausió from the University of Victoria (Canada), and Marcus Buschbeck, from the Institute of Predictive and Personalized Medicine of Cancer (IMPPC), as BCEC series coordinator. This meeting was the second edition of the BCEC series, which was launched by 5 leading Barcelonan institutes to bring together leading investigators in the fields of epigenetics and chromatin research. The topics discussed during the meeting included the current challenges, opportunities, and perspectives surrounding the study of histone modifications (focusing in acetylation), chromatin structure and gene expression, and the involvement of histone acetylation in physiology and diseases, such as cancer or neurological diseases

The literary career of Isabel-Clara Simó (1943-2020) has been developed mainly in the narrative genres. Thus, she alternated between writing and publishing novels and short stories. It is in this sub-genre where we want to focus our analysis, as it was in these, probably due to its brevity, that she offered greater samples of stylistic and thematic experimentation that she later deployed in the novels. The author experiments in various sub-genres and styles, which lead us to find a great structural heterogeneity in her texts. However, a common fact can stand out which is the importance that the author attaches to the treatment of narrative voices as a reflection of the reality in which the characters evolve. In our research we focus on several short stories that the author left unpublished and that, through the family, we were able to consult. We also analyse the last of her publications, the volume Prime Time. Irreverences (2019), which for various reasons has not been distributed in commercial channels. Fundamental texts to understand the evolution –with the permanent will to experiment– of her stylistics and the diversity of her themes
