No full textThis article highlights the value of music therapists undergoing therapy—in particular, music therapy—in order to have better self-knowledge and to better understand the experiences of their clients. The author explored five music psychotherapy approaches: the Bonny method of guided imagery and music (Bonny, 2000/2010); mythopoeic music therapy (Gonzalez, 1992); music therapy group (Hesser, 1985); bio-energy and music therapy (Scheiby, 1992); and vocal work (Austin, 2008). The author wishes to encourage music therapists to undergo music therapy in order to maximize the therapeutic process they can offer to clients in their music therapy practices

Les celebrity politics se définissent autour de deux enjeux principaux : l’interférence entre le domaine politique et celui de la culture populaire et l’importante visibilité médiatique dont jouissent — et que subissent aussi parfois — les politiciens. C’est l’effet pervers de la célébrité que l’auteure souhaite documenter à partir de l’implication de Nathalie Normandeau, députée puis ministre et ex-vice-première ministre du Québec sous le gouvernement libéral entre 1998 et 2011, dans les événements entourant le financement illégal des partis politiques.The notion of “celebrity politics” encompasses a set of political representations that are not part of the traditionally accepted playbook for exercising power. Celebrity politics are defined by two main issues: interference between the political and pop culture spheres and the significant media exposure that now accrues to—and sometimes afflicts—politicians. To explore the downside of celebrity status, the author uses the case of Nathalie Normandeau, a member of the National Assembly who between 1998 and 2011 became a minister, then deputy premier of Québec under the Liberal government and who was implicated in an illegal political fundraising scheme.La noción de celebrity politics se refiere a un conjunto de representaciones de la política que se alejan del modelo tradicional generalmente establecido para el ejercicio del poder. No full textLe développement des services pour les personnes sans abri est actuellement la cible de plusieurs critiques. On y voit une tendance des institutions à se reproduire pour survivre et un danger de créer des services de second ordre pour cette population. On craint également qu'en raison de leurs politiques, ces services favorisent l'itinérance plutôt que de l'enrayer. À partir d'une analyse de l'évolution du mandat des maisons d'hébergement pour femmes sans abri, cet article suggère que le développement des services pour les personnes sans abri a été marqué par des facteurs autres que le seul instinct de survie de ces organismes.The development of services for the homeless is today the target of widespread criticism. Institutions are tending to duplicate services to ensure their survival, which brings about the risk of creating second-rate services for this area of the population. In addition, many critics fear that, because of policies established by institutions, services for the homeless tend to foster rather than fight transience. Based on an analysis of the evolution of mandates of shelters for homeless women, the author suggests that the development of services for the homeless has been influenced by factors other than the survival instinct of these organizations

No full textInternational audienceLinked to international public management (NPM) change in health field, physicians' job changed. Does it mean hybridization or polarization? Does change explain physician's role tensions? In order to answer those questions the author observed doctors in few French hospitals during 10 years. It appears that physicians have new job and not only care than before. So they encounter role tensions because of those new missions. The measurement of role conflict shows that French physicians included in our sample feel higher role conflicts than we found into literature.En raison des évolutions au niveau international dans le management public, les praticiens hospitaliers ont vu progressivement leur métier évoluer. Certains auteurs évoquent alors l'hybridation du métier, d'autres la polarisation. Qu'en est-il dans notre pays ? Cette évolution pourrait-elle être responsable de tensions de rôle ? Pour tenter de répondre à ces questions, l'auteur a observé dans plusieurs établissements des médecins au cours des 10 dernières années. Cette recherche montre que l'évolution du métier est réelle, qu'elle semble générer, sur l'échantillon étudié, des tensions de rôle et que les conflits de rôle s'établissement à un niveau très élevé par rapport à ce qui avait pu être observé pour ce type d'acteurs dans la littérature

Factors that influence the decision of parents to enroll their children in a French immersion program in Prince George
No full textFrench Immersion in Canada started more than 40 years ago in the small town of St-Lambert, Quèbec. It was initiated by a small group of English parents who wanted to allow their children, whose first language was not French, to learn French. Today, French Immersion is offered in all ten Canadian provinces and each of the territories, totaling 300,000 students attending 2,100 schools across the country. By attending French Immersion programs throughout elementary and secondary school, students will have acquired a level of competency in French and English as well as a level of bilingualism high enough to be able to live and work in a French community. This project proposes to investigate reasons why school children in Prince George, British Columbia are registered in a French Immersion program and the influence parents' socioeconomic status variables have on their decision to register them in French Immersion. A survey method will be used to collect data from parents who have registered their children in one of three French Immersion schools located in the Prince George School District.The original print copy of this thesis may be available here: http://wizard.unbc.ca/record=b173649
