counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Effect of stitching on the static and fatigue properties of fibre-dominated and matrix-dominated composite laminates
Full text linkThe paper reports the results of an experimental investigation into the effect of stitching on the static and fatigue response of fibre-dominated and matrix-dominated laminates. The tests were conducted on stitched carbon/epoxy laminates with quasi-isotropic ([0/±45/90]s) or angle-ply ([+302/− 302]s, [+452/− 452]s, [+602/− 602]s) layups. The analyses show that stitching significantly reduces both the static and the fatigue strength of fibredominated [0/±45/90]s laminates, owing to the presence of localized fibre damage introduced during the stitching process. On the other hand, stitching does not affect the fatigue response of [+602/− 602]s laminates but significantly improves the fatigue strength of [+302/− 302]s and [+452/− 452]s laminates. The effectiveness of stitching on the fatigue performance of the angle-ply layups was found to be directly related to the specific damage mechanisms preceding the ultimate failure, which are controlled by edge delaminations in [+302/− 302]s and [+452/− 452]s and transverse matrix cracking in [+602/− 602]s laminates
Addictive internet behaviors: the role of trait emotional intelligence, self-esteem, age, and gender
No full textInternet is essential part of everyday life and certainly facilitate it on several levels. It is a helpful information tool, and knowledge, but its unlimited range often is risky for users. The behaviors and outcomes of internet abuse have already been well-documented in the literature; less is known about the role of personal factors that reinforce internet addiction. Based on the Interaction of Person-Affect-Cognition-Execution model (I-PACE), the current study investigates the role of trait emotional intelligence and self-esteem, age, and gender in relation to addictive internet behaviors. We conducted an online investigation among respondents. The participants were Italian university students who voluntarily completed the Abuse Internet Addiction scale (UADI) and the Rosenberg Self-esteem scale. Path analysis results revealed that both trait emotional intelligence and self-esteem had a protective direct effect on addictive internet behaviors. Age negatively affects addictive internet behaviors; younger are more likely to develop addictive internet behaviors than older individuals. Finally, we did not find an effect of gender on addictive internet behaviors. Our results suggest the need to develop prevention plans for addictive internet behaviors and educational programs to increase emotional intelligence and self-esteem components to help younger to improve interpersonal and emotional management skills to better handle their internet use

Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
