La limitata reazione che la riforma monetaria neroniana suscitò nella circolazione all'interno dell'Impero (reazione di cui sono comunque rilevabili le tracce nei ripostigli la cui ultima moneta è di età flavia oltre che nei rinvenimenti pompeiani) getta qualche luce sugli stessi scopi della riforma. La quale sarebbe stata suggerita dalla nécessita di provvedere, attraverso un'incrementata produzione soprattutto di aurei, ad accresciute esigenze finanziarie, cercando di neutralizzare o almeno di attutire gli effetti più disturbatori che ciò avrebbe potuto provocare sulla circolazione. Non è incredibile che attraverso l'incrementata emissione si sia anche inteso rispondere a una « domanda di moneta » del sistema economico, anche se l'ipotesi che Nerone abbia volutamente aumentato la spesa dello stato per ovviare a una supposta stagnazione economica è ipotesi sostanzialmente non necessaria.Lo Cascio Elio. Total Factor Productivity and Relative Prices
No full textIn his seminal work, Fontela (1989) established the distributional rule of productivity gain in the input output context (Total Factor Productivity Surplus, TFPS). In 1993, at the end of our PhD period in Geneva, under the supervision of Fontela and Lo Cascio, we proposed an extension to identify a measure of surplus, called Purchasing Power Transfer (PPT). This measure is given by the productivity gains and the market surplus generated by extra-profits conditions derived from rental position detained by agents. Such a decomposition is very useful from our point of view since it would provide information about the degree of non-competitiveness in different markets. In our paper, we summarize the drawbacks of using the double deflation method and we compute and explain Fontela’s TFPS comparing it with Garau’s PPT
