"'A Language in Itself Music': Salvatore Vigano's Ballet en Action in Shelley's Prometheus Unbound"
The Romantic Stage: A Many-Sided Mirror examines late eighteenth- and early nineteenth-century British theatre and drama with the conviction that they made an essential contribution to the aesthetic and ideological complexity of the British culture of the day. The essay in particular deals with P.B.Shelley's Prometheus Unbound demonstrating the poet'scapacity to create an 'organic' poem where language, music and dance are beautifully interwoven, recalling in many ways Shelley's unique experience of the Italian coreographer and dancer Salvatore Viganò whose ballet he had seen in Milan in 1818
“Dramatic Discourse and the Romantic Stance in Joanna Baillie’s Theatre"
The wide range of Joanna Baillie’s output within the mainstream of Romantic drama displays a consistent creative itinerary which, starting from the series experiments in her _Plays on the Passions_ (1798-1812), culminates in her conscious choice of a hybrid form in her last published – and never performed – play _Witchcraft_ (1836). The aim of this essay is to highlight how certain aspects of Baillie’s historical and cultural identity – while re-moulding eighteenth-century philosophical and moral traditions – take on a recognisably Romantic configuration, and at the same time are of primary importance in determining the changing forms of her dramatic discourse
New data on land and freshwater molluscs of Sifnos Island and Kitriani Islet (Cyclades, Greece)
The present report provides an updated checklist of land and freshwater molluscs from Sifnos Island and, for the first time, from the nearby uninhabited islet Kitriani (Greece, Cyclades) with a critical review of available literature. Taxonomy, distribution, biogeographic issues, and the potential effect of human activities on these molluscs’ communities are discussed. New morphological data for some snail species are presented, particularly for the genera Limax Linnaeus, 1758; Xerocrassa Monterosato, 1892; Monacha Fitzinger, 1833; and Albinaria Vest, 1864. Finally, based on shell and genitalia morphology, a new subspecies - Albinaria turrita rosettae n. ssp. - is described
New data on Siciliaria septemplicata (R.A. Philippi, 1836) complex (Gastropoda Clausiliidae) from the surroundings of Palermo (NW-Sicily, Italy)
Siciliaria septemplicata (R.A. Philippi, 1836) (Gastropoda Clausiliidae) endemic from
northwestern Sicily (Italy) is revised, using shell and genital characters. The diversity of the
species complex, the taxonomic history, faunal data and distributional relationships are
examined. Siciliaria septemplicata vincentii n. ssp. and S. septemplicata mariastellae n. ssp.
from the surroundings of Palermo are here describe
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
The genus Erctella Monterosato, 1894: new molecular evidence (Pulmonata Stylommatophora Helicidae)
In this paper we report on new molecular data (COI sequences) of different and representative
populations of Erctella mazzullii (De Cristofori et Jan, 1832), E. cephalaeditana Giannuzzi-
Savelli, Oliva et Sparacio, 2012 and E. insolida (Monterosato, 1892) (Pulmonata,
Stylommatophora, Helicidae). Present results are compared with those from recent literature
and the current knowledge on phylogenetic relationships among Helicidae pulmonate
gastropods is reviewed. Obtained results suggest that: i) Cornu Born, 1778 and Cantareus
Risso, 1826 are separate and well distinct from Helix Linnaeus, 1758; ii) Erctella
Monterosato, 1894 is a valid and independent genus rather than a subgenus of Cornu; iii)
Cornu aspersum (O.F. Müller, 1774) is a group of species (i.e. "aspersum" group) whose
taxonomic status needs to be defin further studies; iv) Cornu, Cantareus and Erctella
might belong to the same tribe that, still, remains to be defined
