Transition from University to the job market. A time analysis of the University of Cagliari graduates
To investigate the transition from University to work, and indirectly
assess the effectiveness of university education, time analysis can play a
key role. The period that elapses between graduation and finding work is usually
influenced by various factors. In this work, an analysis of such determinants
is performed by means of non-parametric and parametric survival models

Determination of famoxadone, fenamidone, fenhexamid and iprodione residues in greenhouse tomatoes
BACKGROUND: Greenhouse tomato production is intended exclusively for fresh consumption. Typical greenhouse conditions provide a conducive environment for the development of different fungi, principally lateblightandgreymould, that can destroy plants and fruits. For this reason, different fungicides with different sites of action are used in integrated pest management
strategies. Famoxadone, fenamidone, fenhexamid and iprodione are fungicides of difference classes with different actions that could be used to control tomato pests.
RESULTS: TheQuEChERS method showed good recoveries, and the analyticalmethod allowed good separation of the fungicides selected. Good results were obtained in terms of repeatability and intermediate precision, with a coefficient of variation of <9.8%. The limits of determination and quantification of themethodwere far below the maximum residual levels (MRLs) set by
the EU for these fungicides in tomatoes. The analysis of fungicide residues showed that cv. Shiren accounted for higher residuelevels than cv. Caramba. The dissipation curves were similar in the two cultivars, indicating that the decrease in pesticides was not related to the tomato type.
CONCLUSIONS: Care should be taken when using pesticides in greenhouse conditions, because degradation mainly affects fruit growth. The size of the tomato, in particular its surface/weight ratio, is very important for defining pesticide residues. All fungicides used showed residue levels below the MRLs at the preharvest interval
An iot-based smart building solution for indoor environment management and occupants prediction
Smart buildings use Internet of Things (IoT) sensors for monitoring indoor environmental parameters, such as temperature, humidity, luminosity, and air quality. Due to the huge amount of data generated by these sensors, data analytics and machine learning techniques are needed to extract useful and interesting insights, which provide the input for the building optimization in terms of energy-saving, occupants’ health and comfort. In this paper, we propose an IoT-based smart building (SB) solution for indoor environment management, which aims to provide the following main functionalities: monitoring of the room environmental parameters; detection of the number of occupants in the room; a cloud platform where virtual entities collect the data acquired by the sensors and virtual super entities perform data analysis tasks using machine learning algorithms; a control dashboard for the management and control of the building. With our prototype, we collected data for 10 days, and we built two prediction models: a classification model that predicts the number of occupants based on the monitored environmental parameters (average accuracy of 99.5%), and a regression model that predicts the total volatile organic compound (TVOC) values based on the environmental parameters and the number of occupants (Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.939)
The paper examines critically the conclusions recently drawn by the Supreme Court about the suitability of the preventive seizure aimed at direct confiscation, where the profit of crime consists of an amount of money, to extend the scope beyond the surpluses held in bank accounts on the date of application of the precautionary measure and therefore to affect - without deadline - the sums of money not yet deposited up to the amount arising from the alleged offence. The author points out, in this perspective, the systematic contradictions caused by this interpretation, based on the misunderstood fungible nature of money, wich tends to confuse direct confiscation and confiscation of
equivalent valu
A Clustered Federated Learning Approach for Estimating the Quality of Experience of Web Users
In this paper, we present FedCLWAvg, a novel clustered Federated Learning (FL) approach for estimating the Quality of Experience (QoE) of Web users. FedCLWAvg performs clustering on the weights of the trained local models (CLW stands for clustered weights) to identify users with similar data distribution. In the context of QoE modelling, the hypothesis is that personal differences (in terms of perceived QoE for the same stimuli) between groups of users are reflected in different weights of the trained local models. Then, each identified cluster learns its own model using the FedAvg algorithm. To validate our approach, we used the Web QoE dataset including the subjective quality of 3,400 Web browsing sessions identified by the measurement of 9 Web session features. Experimental results have shown that FedCLWAvg achieved greater QoE estimation performance than the classical FedAvg algorithm in terms of mean accuracy and recall, F1-score, and precision computed for the single quality scores
Kryptosafe: managing and trading data sets using blockchain and IPFS
Trading data sets is not easy. The owner of valuable data, once they are sold the first time, cannot be sure that they will not be copied and resold. On the other hand, the buyer, cannot be sure that the seller will not sell the same data to a competitor. The advent of blockchain technology, or DLT, can mitigate, or event solve these issues, because it can certify the data ownership, and act as a broker between seller and buyer. In this paper we present Kryptosafe, a system developed following sound software engineering practices, aimed to manage the trade of data sets taking advantage of the unique features of immutability and trustfulness of Ethereum blockchain, and of IPFS distributed DBMS. Kryptosafe allows data sellers to sell a whole encrypted data set or to show potential buyers a subset of it, allowing full access only after the sale is finalized. Using ERC721 and ERC1155 tokens, it also manages one-time sales, when the data set ownership is simply transferred to the buyer, or multiple sales of the same data set to different buyers
