ACTIVITIES AND COMPETENCIES OF NURSING CARE WITH SUPERVISION OF PACIENT IN RECOVERY ROOM
Teoretično izhodišče. Prebujevalnica, zbujevalnica ali »recovery« je namenski prostor, kjer medicinska sestra pacienta nadzoruje vsaj eno uro po operativnem posegu oziroma dokler ne izzvenijo vsi učinki anestezije (Pungartnik in Bahč, 2009). Medicinske sestre brez ustreznih kompetenc v prebujevalnici ogrožajo sebe in varnost pacientov.
Namen raziskave. V diplomskem delu želimo predstaviti frekvenco aktivnosti in kompetenc medicinskih sester v izbrani prebujevalnici in ugotoviti, ali je v skladu z nacionalnimi in evropskimi strokovnimi smernicami.
Raziskovalna metodologija. Za potrditev raziskovalnih vprašanj smo uporabili kvantitativno metodologija z obdelavo statističnih podatkov realiziranih aktivnostih zdravstvene nege v prebujevalnici Oddelka za anesteziologijo in intenzivno medicino operativnih strok Splošne bolnišnice Slovenj Gradec, ki smo jih analizirali s statističnim programom MICROSOFT OFFICE Excel 2007 in jih interpretirali v obliki tabel in grafov.
Rezultati. Najpogostejše aktivnosti zdravstvene nege v prebujevalnici so: ocena bolečine in i.v. aplikacija protibolečinske terapije (100 %), nadzor nad infuzijsko tekočino (100 %), izvajanje posebnih odvzemov (avtotransfuzija) (14,7 %) in nadzor delovanja PCA črpalk (8,6 %). Medicinske sestre s srednjo strokovno izobrazbo za izvajanje aktivnosti zdravstvene nege nimajo ustreznih kompetenc.
Sklep. Theoretical basis. PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) or Recovery room is a specific department where a nurse is monitoring patient’s life functions after surgery for at least one hour, or until all the effects of anesthesia disappear (Pungartnik and Bahč, 2009).
Purpose. The purpose of this research is to present the frequency of activities and competences of nurses in a selected recovery room, to determine whether it is in accordance with national and European professional PACU guidelines.
Research methodology. In our research was used quantitative methodology. The statistics of recovery room shows nursing care activities from the General hospital in Slovenj Gradec, Anaesthesiology and Intensitive Care Unit. The collected data were analyzed with MICROSOFT OFFICE Excel 2007 and interpreted in forms of tables and graphs.
Results. The research has showed that nurses from selected recovery room are not performing activities in accordance with »The guidelines of professional activities and skills in the health care« (2008). The most common activities are: pain assessment and IV application of pain relief therapy (100 %), control of fluid infusion (100 %), implementation of specific for features blood transfusion (14,7 %) and supervision of PCA pumps (8,6 %). Secondary educated nurses don´t have adequate competencies for nursing care activities.
Conclusion. The results state the meaning of organization in recovery room and we tried to give possible suggestions. It is necessary to increase the number of nursing staff with competencies in recovery room. It is very important to ensure optimal perioperative health care which can only be performed by professional, experienced nurses and encourage them to cooperate more in the research and the educational area
COMPARATIVE INVESTIGATIONS ON THE NUTRITIVE VALUE OF CARP FISH MEAT (CYPRINIDAE), GROWN AT ORGANIC AQUACULTURE CONDITIONS
Abstract HADJNIKOLOVA, L., L. NIKOLOVA and A. STOEVA, 2008. Comparative investigations on the nutritive value of carp fish meat (Cyprinidae), grown at organic aquaculture conditions. Bulg. J. Agric. Sci., The aim of this study is to investigate the chemical composition and the caloric value of the carp meat (Cyprinus carpio L.), the bighead carp meat (Aristichtuys nobilis Rich.) and the grass carp meat (Ctenopharyngodon iddela Val.), grown at organic production technology application. The technology of carp, grass carp and bighead carp growing has had most of all an influence on fats contents. It has been established that their level has been authentically higher in bighead carp meat, as regards carp and grass carp meat, grown in ponds, where organic fertilization has been applied. The relative proteins share in the fish grown meat (77.0-84.5%) has been with a more clearly expressed differentiation depending on their species and has been within the limits of 77.0-79.6% for the bighead carp, 81.3% for the carp and 83.5-84.5% for the grass carp. The caloric values of meat has varied within 437.4-545.8 kJ.100 g -1 , 71 % (bighead carp) -84.2% (grass carp) of which has been on the account of the proteins

Infraspecific variability in the flavonoid composition of Artemisia vulgaris L.
Surface flavonoid profiles in forty populations of Artemisia vulgaris L. (Asteraceae) were analyzed. The major constituents observed in the leaf exudates were methylated flavonoid aglycones based mainly on quercetin. Three infraspecific flavonoid chemotypes were determined,
the chrysosplenetin (quercetagetin 3,6,7,3’-tetramethyl ether) chemotype, the artemetin (quercetagetin 3,6,7,3’,4’-pentamethyl ether) chemotype and chemotype without these two compounds. Most of the populations corresponded to these chemotypes
Portfolio similarity and asset liquidation in the insurance industry
We examine whether the concern about insurers selling similar assets due to an overlap in holdings is justified. We measure this overlap using cosine similarity and find that insurers with more similar portfolios have larger subsequent common sales. When faced with a shock to assets or liabilities, exposed insurers with greater portfolio similarity have larger common sales that impact prices. Our portfolio similarity measure can be used by regulators to predict the common selling of any institution that reports security or asset class holdings, making the measure a useful ex ante predictor of divestment behavior in times of market stress

Abstract UZUNOVA, E., M. GEORGIEVA, M. NIKOLOVA, S. STUDENKOV and I. TRAYKOV, 2010. Pumpkinseed (Lepomis gibbosus) distribution and abundance in litoral zones of Sand -Pit Lakes. Bulg. J. Agric. Sci., The distribution and abundance of invasive fish species Lepomis gibbosus L. inhabiting littoral zones of sandpit lakes was investigated. The study was carried out during May and June -in active breeding period for pumpkinseeds. The investigated water bodies are located along the Lesnovska River, tributary of Iskar River, Danube drainage basin. The pumpkinseed was observed in all water bodies except Chepintci Lake. The mean abundance of pumpkinseed varied between 0.2 and 24.5 (CPUE). The highest abundance was recorded in Negovan Lake. The mean total length of pumpkinseed was relatively low for all investigated sites and varied between 4.9 and 7.4 cm, corresponding to an average age of 0.7 and 2.09 years respectively. The character of a bottom and density of water vegetation significantly correlated with pumpkinseed abundance
"Europeanisation as a contest: The EU and sub-national governance in Bulgaria"
[From the introduction] This article assesses the reforms in sub-national governance in Bulgaria in the years of postcommunist transition and pre-accession (1991-2005) in order to make conclusions about Europeanisation and domestic responses in candidate states. It draws on a number of Bulgarian policy documents and Commission reports and on forty semi-structured interviews with officials of the European Commission, Bulgarian national ministries and sub-national authorities in the period April-August 2004. The article proceeds by briefly outlining the theoretical framework. Europeanisation is a concept originally developed for member states and it is therefore necessary to take into account the specifics of the enlargement process at the theoretical level in order to be able to apply it to Bulgaria. In the second part of this article it is argued that the models provided by the EU in the area of sub-national governance are fuzzy, the Commission preferences were incoherent across DGs and over time, and the tools for exercising EU pressure (the mechanisms for Europeanisation) leaked out EU influence and allowed models and pressures from elsewhere to filter in. The third part of this paper examines the reforms in the administrative-territorial organisation of Bulgaria while the fourth section focuses on the creation and content of the national policy for addressing territorial disparities (regional policy). The concluding part reflects upon the utility of the concept of Europeanisation to explain processes of change beyond the EU territorial boundaries and about the challenges of future Europeanisation research on recent entrants as Bulgaria
EFFECT OF MULTI-WALLED CARBON NANOTUBES ON THE STABILITY OF DYE SENSITIZED SOLAR CELLS
We report the improvement of the operational stability of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) by incorporating
multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) in conventional nanostructured semiconducting TiO2
photoanodes. DSSCs were prepared by adding various concentrations of MWCNTs (up to 1.0% wt.) to TiO2
anatase nanoparticles. Optimization of MWCNT concentration leads to photoconversion efficiency as
high as 4.1% as opposed to 3.7% for pure TiO2 photoanodes. The performance of the solar cells was
measured for 10 consecutive days of continuous ambient light exposure. MWCNT addition results in the
decrease of efficiency from 4.1% to 3.7%, while a decrease from 3.7% to 2.4% was recorded in pure TiO2
photoanodes. These results are encouraging toward the commercial exploitation of DSSCs
Pharmacological treatment of mixed states
Mixed states in bipolar disorder have been neglected, and the data concerning treatment of these conditions have been relatively obscure. To address this, we systematically reviewed published pharmacological treatment data for "mixed states/episodes" in mood disorders, including "with mixed features" in DSM-5. We searched PubMed, MEDLINE, The Cochrane Library, clinicaltrials.gov, and controlled-trials.com (with different combinations of the following keywords: "mixed states/features," "bipolar," "depressive symptoms/bipolar depression," "manic symptoms," "treatment," "DSM-5") through to October 2016. We applied a quality-of-evidence approach: first-degree evidence=randomized placebo-controlled studies of pharmacological interventions used as monotherapy; second-degree evidence=a similar design in the absence of a placebo or of a combination therapy as a comparative group; third-degree evidence=case reports, case series, and reviews of published studies. We found very few primary double-blind, placebo-controlled studies on the treatment of mixed states: the preponderance of available data derives from subgroup analysis performed on studies that originally involved manic patients. Future research should study the effects of treatments in mixed states defined using current criteria
Komparativne karakteristike Lupinus albus L. i Lupinus luteus L. pod alelopatskim delovanjem Sorghum halepense L. (Pers.)
Allelopathic effects of aqueous extracts of Sorghum halepense L. (Pers.) on seed
germination and primary seedling growth and development of two lupine species
was studied. Lupinus albus and Lupinus luteus showed different levels of susceptibility
to the allelopathic effect of weed extracts. Increasing concentrations (1.25, 2.50, 5.00
and 10.00%) of extracts from aboveground and belowground biomass suppressed
seed germination of L. luteus from 53.2 to 74.7%. The germination of L. albus seeds was
unaffected, except by the highest concentration of 10.00%. Fresh biomass accumulation in
the initial germ of L. luteus was inhibited by 3.8-40.3% under the effect of concentrations
of 2.50, 5.00 and 10.00%, which made the species susceptible to S. halepense extracts. L.
albus was tolerant as it was not found to sustain a significant allelopathic effect of the
extracts.Proučavan je alelopatski uticaj vodenih rastvora Sorghum halepense L. (Pers.) na klijanje
semena i primarni rast i razvoj dve vrste lupina. Vrste Lupinus albus i Lupinus luteus su pokazale
različitu osetljivost na alelopatski uticaj rastvora ispitivanog korova. Rastuće koncentracije
(1.25, 2.50, 5.00 i 10.00%) ekstrakata nadzemne i podzemne biomase korova inhibirale
su klijanje semena L. luteus od 53.2 do 74.7%. Nije bilo uticaja na klijanje semena L. albus,
osim kod najviše koncentracije od 10.00%. Akumulacija biomase klice L. luteus inhibirana je
3.8-40.3% pod uticajem koncentracija od 2.50, 5.00 i 10.00%, što ovu vrstu čini osetljivom na
ekstrakt S. halepense. L. albus se pokazala kao otporna vrsta jer na nju ispitivani ekstrakti nisu
pokazali značajan alelopatski uticaj
