No full textLa Lomellina riflette i caratteri costitutivi della bassa pianura padana irrigua, in un territorio a trama insediativa contenuta. In questo sistema territoriale con un’agricoltura professionale con redditi elevati, emerge un numero rilevante di grandi cascine abbandonate o sottoutilizzate. Un quadro in apparenza contraddittorio che si ricollega alla difficoltà di riutilizzo, totale o parziale, delle ingenti volumetrie, la cui decadenza è stata segnata alle modifiche dell’ indirizzo produttivo che nell’arco di settant’anni ha visto quasi scomparire l’allevamento bovino.
A partire dall’analisi di 290 cascine, delle modifiche intervenute in 50 anni di attività agricola e dell’evoluzione dei trend di produzione locale, la ricerca analizza i modi di riutilizzar eil patrimonio esistente, in un quadro di nuove attività produttive capaci di valorizzare le caratteristiche territoriali locali e creare al tempo stesso nuove opportunità occupazionali che rendano l’agricoltura attraente per le nuove generazioni
New Trends in Old Farm Buildings: Lomellina and its rural landscape
No full textWith the aim of preventing the disappearance of characteristic elements of the Italian rural landscape, the paper analyses the various alternatives for putting old farmhouses in to new productive uses connected to agriculture.
The project focused on a 72000 hectare sample region, comprising the territories of 40 municipalities. The region was then divided into sub-regions for analysis, and a field survey performed to identify those buildings most heavily affected by changes, and subsequently to ascertain in detail the conditions of the farms occupying them. In order to identify alternative uses capable of sustaining the rural landscape, its building heritage and the farms themselves, the above data was then correlated with an analysis of the territorial aptitudes and the planning provisions currently in force.
The results suggest some possible directions for achieving a sustainable reuse of old farm buildings, in a manner that is also able to revitalise the agricultural landscape and/or promote novel alternatives to the tourism-residential function envisaged by the redevelopment policies currently in force.
The criteria defined can also provide support for the predominant forms of agriculture in the area, contributing to creating employment, and increasing the appeal of agriculture to younger generations
Il cielo, la terra, il campo. Anamnesi di un insediamento rurale di pianura
No full textLa cascina Marza è uno dei casi inseriti nel repertorio dei beni storici e significativi nell'ambito di una ricerca finalizzata a definire la gestione compatibile e sostenibile del patrimonio rurale lombardo. L’insediamento si localizza nella pianura irrigua padana, terra di passaggio tra Lombardia e Piemonte. Un’area in origine ricca di fiumane, dossi, conche e avvallamenti formati dai depositi di sabbia e ciottoli e costellata di paludi e boschi, oggi caratterizzata da un’intensa attività risicola e da paesaggi ricchi di corsi e specchi d’acqua. Al servizio di questa estensione di coltivazioni, la cultura agricola ha disegnato il territorio con un complesso sistema idrico di rogge, canali, mulini e centinaia di cascine strutturate “a corte chiusa”, tipici insediamenti rurali della Pianura Padana, che il Piano Territoriale di Coordinamento Provinciale di Pavia indica come elementi connotativi del paesaggio agrario lombardo. La cascina analizzata che affonda le proprie origini nell’XI secolo, ne rappresenta un classico esempio. Qui il lavoro, complementare alla preghiera, ha dato forma ad uno dei primi centri monastici della Lomellina. Sede di un importante convento benedettino fino al XV secolo, nei successivi trasferimenti di proprietà tra casate nobiliari, l’insediamento si caratterizza come segno stabile nel territorio, divenendo elemento identificativo e matrice del paesaggio agrario di quest’ambito di pianura lombardo.
Oggi frazionata tra diversi proprietari, la cascina Marza presenta molti fabbricati non più utilizzati che rischiano di perdere per sempre il loro importante valore architettonico se non preservati da incaute opere di ristrutturazione. Attraverso la lettura dei cambiamenti avvenuti nel tempo e l’analisi degli elementi costruttivi e compositivi che ancora oggi strutturano l’impalpabile relazione fra cultura e natura, fra elementi architettonici e paesaggio agrario, lo studio presentato analizza le possibilità di conservazione di questa parte del patrimonio culturale, anche in vista delle risorse finanziarie attualmente disponibili

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
