    Reducing the polyp burden in serrated polyposis by serial colonoscopy: the impact of nationally coordinated community surveillance

    Serrated polyposis syndrome (SPS) is associated with an increased risk of colorectal cancer (CRC) and an evolving management approach. The aims of this study were to assess the polyp burden reduction over time, and the incidence of CRC in serrated polyposis patients undergoing community surveillance.This is an observational study based on prospectively collected data. A total of 96 SPS patients with no personal history of CRC were prospectively enrolled in a surveillance program under the guidance of a tertiary center. Patients underwent surveillance colonoscopy in multiple centres across New Zealand.Patients underwent a median of four colonoscopies with a median interval of 15 months over a median follow-up period of 4.8 years. Five of 96 patients (5%) were referred for surgery, and the remaining 91 were managed by colonoscopy alone. In patients referred for surgery, 92% of the surveillance intervals to the fourth colonoscopy had been ≤12 months compared to 33% (P75% no longer had polyps ≥10mm and >90% no longer had proximal serrated polyps ≥10mm after the fourth colonoscopy. No patients were found to develop CRC during the study time period.Patients with SPS were managed by proactive surveillance colonoscopy in wider hospital settings under tertiary centre guidance, with only 5% requiring surgical management.     Performance Evaluation of Hybrid Propulsion System on Fast Patrol Boat

    This paper presents a performance evaluation of a hybrid propulsion system applied to a fast patrol boat. The study aims to analyze the efficiency, fuel consumption, and overall operational effectiveness of the hybrid system compared to conventional propulsion methods. A combination of electric motors and diesel engines is utilized in the hybrid setup, allowing for optimized energy use in varying operational conditions. The performance of the system was evaluated through simulation and sea trials, focusing on key metrics such as speed, endurance, maneuverability, and emission reduction. Results indicate that the hybrid system offers significant advantages in terms of fuel savings and reduced environmental impact, particularly during low-speed or patrol operations.     This short video aims to visualise the current knowledge gap and the overall project of my PhD, emphasing the development of a personalised risk-assessment tool that can predict the probability of developing new primary cancers following colorectal cancer. A major concern for colorectal cancer survivors is facing the development of subsequent new cancers, both in the primary organs and other locations within the body. Presently, there is no method to identify which survivors are at the highest risk of developing such new primary cancers. If it becomes possible to predict which colorectal cancer survivors are more likely to develop a new cancer,  targeted screening and early detection measures could be offered based on their risk—precision prevention (also known as risk-based approach). The main outcome of my thesis will be a validated risk prediction model that will help clinicians to utilise to identify colorectal cancer survivors at high risk of new primary cancers. Then they can optimise early-detection measures, leveraging existing and upcoming surveillance strategies.</p

    Application of Advanced Technology on Transport Ships as a Technological Revolution in the Maritime Industry

    The maritime industry is experiencing a technological revolution driven by the application of advanced technology to transport vessels. This research aims to explore the impact of advanced technologies, such as satellite navigation systems, electric propulsion, advanced sensors, and data analysis, on operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability in the shipping industry. The research methodology includes a comprehensive literature review, semi-structured interviews with industry experts, case studies on ships employing advanced technologies, and data analysis using qualitative and quantitative methods. The research results show significant improvements in fuel efficiency, reduced emissions, improved condition monitoring, and predictive maintenance on ships equipped with advanced technology. However, the research also revealed challenges in implementation and adoption, including high initial costs, lack of supporting infrastructure, the need for crew retraining, and regulatory challenges. Despite this, the future potential for the application of advanced technologies in the maritime industry remains promising, with rapid developments in artificial intelligence, autonomous technologies, and blockchain. This research highlights the need for collaboration between industry stakeholders, continued investment in research and development, and conducive regulatory support to realize the full potential of the technological revolution in the maritime industry. The findings from this research contribute to a better understanding of the transformative impact of advanced technology in shipping and highlight its role in driving the industry toward a more efficient, sustainable, and safe future

    Development of Corrosion Resistant Welding Technology for Industrial Applications Study on the Impact of Material Variation and Welding Process

    This article discusses the development of stainless welding technology aimed at improving corrosion resistance in industrial applications. The research focuses on the effect of material variation and welding process on the corrosion-resistant performance of welding joints. The research methodology includes the selection of materials with different compositions and the application of various welding techniques. Experiments were conducted to evaluate the microstructure, joint strength, and corrosion resistance properties of the weldments. The results show that material variation has a significant impact on the corrosion resistance of welding joints. The use of certain welding techniques can also affect the corrosion properties of the resulting material. Microstructure analysis provides an in-depth insight into the changes at the microscopic level that affect corrosion resistance. This study makes an important contribution in identifying critical parameters that need to be considered in the development of corrosion resistant welding technology to improve material performance in corrosive industrial environments. In conclusion, a better understanding of the relationship between material and welding process variations and corrosion resistance can help in designing more effective and durable welding technologies for industrial applications.     Green Shipping Development: Carbon Emission Reduction Strategies in the Shipping Industry

    This study examines the development of green shipping strategies to reduce carbon emissions in the shipping industry. Using a mixed-method approach, the study was conducted by analyzing data from 50 sample ships and involving 150 maritime industry stakeholders. The results showed that the implementation of green shipping technology can reduce carbon emissions by up to 23.5%, with a combination of technologies achieving a reduction of up to 35%. Economic analysis revealed an average payback period of 3.2 years. The study resulted in a three-pillar strategy recommendation that includes gradual investment in environmentally friendly technologies, crew capacity development, and industry collaboration for infrastructure development. These findings provide significant contributions to the development of effective and sustainable carbon emission reduction strategies in the shipping industry

    Seakeeping is the ship\u27s ability to stay afloat on the waves. The ship\u27s maneuverability is greatly influenced by external factors related to the state of the sea and the waters in which the ship sails. Calculating seakeeping with various variations of depth, current, and wave height is needed for ship safety when sailing in the calculation of seakeeping using linear strip theory to calculate the response of heaving and pitching movements while roll damping theory for rolling movements. In this study, the ship\u27s motion is calculated using the Finite element method software Hydrodynamic Diffraction and Hydrodynamic Time Response. For variations in wave height and water depth, referring to the conditions of Indonesian waters, from the reference, variations in wave height of 3 m, and 5 m (based on sea state WMO). In contrast, the current variation uses a current with a speed of 10 knots and a current depth of 10 T, 15 T, and 20 T. Based on the data obtained in data processing, it can be seen that the high value of the wave frequency obtained at 90 and 270 degrees wave direction is relatively high. The value of the roll spectrum in the direction of 0 and 270 degrees is large and can cause rolling on the ship. Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), lobster seeds began to be re-exported in June 2020 at 32 kilograms, costing the US $ 112,990. The government can help with training and outreach on lobster cultivation. The government can offer Lobster a partnership package to help people start a freshwater crayfish business
