Analytical calculation of radiated emissions from rectangular power bus using embedded capacitor in high-speed packages and PCBs
We propose a method of analytical calculation of radiated emissions front a rectangular power bus using all embedded capacitor. Using this method, the radiated emissions of the test package are calculated accurately and the calculation is verified by far-field measurement in an anechoic chamber. Base station location in a cellular CDMA system
We consider a cellular CDMA system in which blocking is enforced when the relative interference exceeds a certain threshold level. This paper addresses a radio network design problem in such a CDMA system. Given the data of call-traffic distributed over the service area and potential sites of base stations, the objective of the problem is to locate base stations so as to minimize the associated cost for establishing base stations while keeping the probability of blocking under control. We develop an efficient algorithm for solving the design problem. Computational experiments with real-world data are conducted to show both the efficiency and the practicality of the proposed design method
Analysis of single-layered multiconductor transmission lines using the fourier transform and mode-matching techniques
The Fourier transform and mode-matching techniques wire applied in the analysis of single-layered multiconductor transmission lines with finite strip thickness. Based on a quasi-static approach, the problem is formulated to obtain simultaneous equations for the modal coefficients of the potential distributions between transmission lines, Residue calculus is applied to represent the potential distributions in convergent series form Analytical closed-form expressions for the self and mutual capacitances are developed. Perturbation-minimizing frequency assignment in a changing TDMA/FDMA cellular environment
A robust operation of assigning frequencies to requirements in a time-division multiple-access (TDMA) [or frequency-division multiple-access (FDMA)] cellular system should cope with environmental changes such as short-term demand rises and long-term capacity expansions while always keeping the required realignment process as simple as possible. In this paper, we consider the so-called perturbation-minimizing frequency assignment problem (PMFAP), the objective of which is to assign available frequencies for newly generated requirements with the minimum change in the existing frequency assignments while meeting the interference-related constraints. For PMFAP, we propose a heuristic algorithm based on the so-called B nu-D omega rearrangement technique, which can also be applied to the classic frequency assignment problem (FAP) with a slight modification. Two kinds of computational experiments, one for each of the above two problems, are performed to demonstrate the powerful features of the proposed solution method not only in its suitability for real-world frequency management, but also in solving the FAP
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
