No full textThis report is the program notes of Cheng-Hsin Kuo\ue2s Violin Recital, which was performed at Chiang Kai-shek Chateau in National Sun Yat-sen University on December 9, 2019. The repertoires of the recital include Johann Sebastian Bach\ue2s Partita for Solo Violin in D Minor, BWV 1004: Chaconne, Niccol\uc3\ub2 Paganini\ue2s 24 Caprices for Solo Violin, Op. 1 No. 13, Johannes Brahms\ue2 Violin Sonata in G Major, Op. 78, and Henryk Wieniawski\ue2s Polonaise Brillante in A Major, Op. 21. The program notes will present the lives of the four composers, as well as the background and music styles of the four compositions, so that the performer can further understand the content of the works, and interpret them with more conviction

Full text linkBio: Cheng-Yung Kuo was born and raised in Taiwan. He immigrated to the United States 11 years ago to study art. Enrolling in a community college on the south side of Chicago he graduated with honors as a Phi Theta Kappa All-USA Academic Team Nominee in 2006. He transferred to the School of Art Institute of Chicago to receive his Bachelors of Fine Arts. In 2009 he received his Masters of Fine Arts degree from SAIC. Now three years out of college, Cheng-Yung Kuo works at a company called Primitive and works on his personal artwork on the side.

Full text linkThis thesis is to study the political role of the People's Liberation Army from the approach of structure and function. The framework of the thesis consists of three major parts, first, the influence of Chinese traditional political culture on, and the formation of, the political role of the PL A; second, the influence of domestic political struggles and external military conflicts on the development of the political role of the PLA; and the third, the analysis of the transition of the PLA's political role from the structure and personnel arrangements of the CCPCC Within the above-mentioned three scopes, this thesis make a thorough discussion on the following: (1) The relationship between the structure of the PRC and the formation of the PLA's political role; (2) How has ideology influenced the army's political role; (3) What is Mao's viewpoint and his influence on the development of the army's political role; (4) What is the link between the army and the party, and how has this developed; (6) What accounts for the expansion of the PLA's political functions; (7) What is the influence of political factional struggles on the PLA's political role; (8) Is it political institution or military institution that controls the recruitment of the military elite; (9) What are the disparities between the military elite in handling international conflicts and what are their political considerations; (10) What is the Party's position in the army; (11) How have the Party’s important meetings and personnel arrangements influenced the rise and fall of the PLA's political role
