This diploma thesis is a review of the existing studies done between 1991 and 2016 which research reading. It has been established that we have three major studies in Slovenia: Slovensko javno mnenje (Slovenian public opinion), Nacionalna raziskava branosti (National research of readership), and a series of studies under the title Knjiga in bralci (The book and its readers). There are also a large number of studies on the micro level. Slovenian public opinion is the only longitudinal sociological study in Slovenia since it has been in progress since 1968. It researches reading only marginally. In 2000, there has been a change in the topics it researches and it has thus become more comparable to international studies. National research of readership has been in progress since 2002. Its main interest is the research of the print media readership. Since the study is being financed by the private sector, the information about the reach of one issue is publically avaliable, the rest is only available against payment. The only study that researches reading in depth is the series of studies under the title The book and its readers. It has been performed five times so far, namely in 1973, 1979, 1984, 1998 and 2014. For our research, only the last two studies are relevant due to the limited period of time covered in this research. Apart from these three nation-wide studies, there is an array of studies on the micro level which have been mostly done by individuals within the framework of institutes, and as part of diploma and masters theses. Although their results are not representative of the entire Slovenian population, they are important as they at least partially cover the topics not researched by the macro studies. The review and interpretation of the existing studies have shown that in the twenty-five years since Slovenia%s independence, we have not developed a long term cultural policy in the field of reading research

Comments. This species is closely related to L. succinctus and L. pavettae. However, it can be differentiated from these by the shape of the pelta, the metanotal sculpture, and differences in length of the pronotal setae. In the holotype of L. succinctus the anteroangulars and anteromarginals are subequal, but in the holotype of L. pavettae the anteroangulars are longer than the anteromarginals. In L. acaciae the anteromarginals are longer than the anteroangulars. The metanotum has reticulate sculpture and pointed setae in L. succinctus and L. pavettae, but has longitudinal lines and expanded setae in L. acaciae.Published as part of Tyagi, Kaomud & Kumar, Vikas, 2011, The Indian species of Liophloeothrips Priesner (Thysanoptera, Phlaeothripidae) with one new species, pp. 21-31 in Zootaxa 2803 on pages 23-25, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.20654
Construction and manufacture of hydraulic wood splitter
The thesis covers the development of wood splitters, their design, construction and testing of a single splitter. The wood splitter has been designed using the software package Autodesk Inventor Professional 2012. For the basic parts of the splitter there were used: steel profile I 160, hydraulic cylinder with a thrust force of 16 tons, electric motor rated at 5 kW, 25 cm3 hydraulic pump, hydraulic valve 02P40, and a cylinder for the elevated table.
With the help of this program I designed the splitter according to my ideasat the same time I wanted to improve and simplify the work with the splitter, so I added the hydraulic elevated table. When designing the device, I took into account that the product must be manufactured as following: easy to use, reliable, ergonomic, but also to have quick and easy maintenance. Taking the test, I realized that the splitter constructed by my assumptions, is easy to use and its functioning is flawless

South African responses to Open Access publishing: a survey of the research community
Open access publishing offers wide benefits to the scholarly community and may also afford relief to financially embattled academic libraries. The progress of the open access model rests upon the acceptance and validation of open access journals and open archives or institutional repositories by the academic mainstream, particularly by publishing researchers. To what extent are the key actors in the South African research system aware of the advantages of open access? This article reports on the findings of a recent survey undertaken to assess the current awareness, concerns and depth of support for open access amongst local researchers, research managers and policy makers in South Africa. The study focuses on issues of quality, article or author charges and the established academic reward system. It concludes that within the prevailing framework, there is little prospect that academics would choose to publish within open access
journals. Recommendations for advocacy by the library community are proposed
Students with deficits in a specific area of learning in music theory lessons in music schools
The key research problem of the master\u27s thesis is specific learning difficulties in music lessons, their characteristics and how they can be identified. We wanted to gain an in-depth insight into the problem from the perspective of individuals with deficits in specific areas of learning who have managed to reach the university level of music education and to shed light on their challenges along the way and the adaptations that have helped them to do so. The introductory chapter of the master’s thesis outlines the role and importance of music education for the individual and for society. Inclusion in music schools is discussed. This is followed by a description of specific learning disabilities and students with such disabilities. For each specific disorder and deficit in a particular area of learning, the characteristics of students with the problem and the solutions and adaptations for students with that type of problem are presented. At the end of the theoretical part, we have listed useful didactic games and tools that offer support to students with specific learning disabilities. The exercises are also designed to support teachers in teaching music. The study used a qualitative research method and asked six key research questions. On this basis, we prepared questions and conducted six interviews with the participants. The participants in our study are music students who show deficits in a particular area of learning. We wanted to investigate how deficits in a particular area of learning manifest themselves in music theory subjects. The study concluded that a student with deficits in a particular area of learning can be very successful in music and that specific learning difficulties are not a barrier to achieving their goals. However, it is important that such a student can make the appropriate adjustments indicated in the decision about deficits in a particular learning area. Students with these problems are also forced to learn other life skills such as perseverance and patience
Author Co-Citation Analysis (ACA): a powerful tool for representing implicit knowledge of scholar knowledge workers
In the last decade, knowledge has emerged as one of the most important and valuable organizational assets. Gradually this importance caused to emergence of new discipline entitled ―knowledge management‖. However one of the major challenges of knowledge management is conversion implicit or tacit knowledge to explicit knowledge. Thus Making knowledge visible so that it can be better accessed, discussed, valued or generally managed is a long-standing objective in knowledge management. Accordingly in this paper author co- citation analysis (ACA) will be proposed as an efficient technique of knowledge visualization in academia (Scholar knowledge workers)
Linear and Efficient Power Amplifier for WiFi
CMOS technology is one of the feasible solutions to meet the world’s growing demand for high data rates because it offers the prospect of SoC at a low cost. But, the PA forms the major bottleneck in making SoC because the PAs in high data rate wireless communication systems have the requirement of high-efficiency and good linearity even at backed-off power levels. Currently, PAs are mostly of classes A and B. Both of these are linear, but peak efficiencies are only 50% and 78% respectively. This thesis focuses on implementing Continuous Class F (CCF) PA for WiFi 802.11n over the bandwidth 2.1 - 2.7 GHz, which meets the requirement of high efficiency and good linearity even at backed-off power levels. The CCF PA overcomes Class F’s disadvantage of limited bandwidth as well as maintains peak efficiency of 90.7% over the entire bandwidth. The designed PA has four main blocks: the driver, inter-stage matching, output network, and output stage. The procedure to implement each of these blocks is explained extensively in chapters 3, 4, 5, and 6. The layout of the chip is carried out in TSMC 40 nm, and the chip size is 1.4 mm2. From simulations, the CCF PA has a maximum efficiency of 30 % and EVM of -25 dB at 3 dB back-off across the bandwidth 2.1 -2.7 GHz. The tapeout of the chip is planned in March 2021. Later, the chip can be tested and simulation results will be validated. To the best knowledge of the author, this is the first CCF chip at 2.4 GHz band.Electrical Engineering | Microelectronic
