This case report reveals the exceptional coexistence of advanced neuroendocrine tumor and Burkitt's lymphoma, an infrequently reported combination in an individual with HIV. Emphasizing Hickam's Dictum, which promotes comprehensive exploration of multiple possibilities, rather than settling for a single diagnosis (Occam's razor), we present the intriguing journey of a 44- year-old man with HIV and hepatitis B co-infection. The patient, diagnosed with HIV and hepatitis B in 2017, discontinued antiretroviral therapy and presented to the emergency department with breathlessness. He experienced fever, night sweats, chronic diarrhoea, and a significant weight loss of 15 kg over six months. Physical examination revealed flushed cheeks, hepatomegaly, and other alarming signs. Initial treatment focused on disseminated tuberculosis, but further investigations unveiled heart failure and a pancreatic lesion. The clinical picture suggested neuroendocrine tumor and carcinoid syndrome, supported by elevated serum chromogranin levels. A colonoscopy ruled out gastrointestinal involvement but surprisingly revealed Burkitt's lymphoma. Tragically, the patient succumbed to a carcinoid crisis. This case highlights the importance of considering multiple differentials in HIV-infected individuals, as illustrated by the convergence of neuroendocrine tumor and Burkitt's lymphoma. Previous case reports suggest an unusual link between carcinoid tumours and lymphoreticular malignancies. Neuroendocrine hormones may influence the proliferation and mitogenesis of lymphoid cells that may develop into diseases. Vigilance in recognizing and understanding dual pathology can aid in reducing mortality. Further research is needed to explore potential connections between these rare malignancies

    Biosensor for the detection of Listeria monocytogenes: emerging trends

    The early detection of Listeria monocytogenes (L. monocytogenes) and understanding the disease burden is of paramount interest. The failure to detect pathogenic bacteria in the food industry may have terrible consequences, and poses deleterious effects on human health. Therefore, integration of methods to detect and trace the route of pathogens along the entire food supply network might facilitate elucidation of the main contamination sources. Recent research interest has been oriented towards the development of rapid and affordable pathogen detection tools/techniques. An innovative and new approach like biosensors has been quite promising in revealing the foodborne pathogens. In spite of the existing knowledge, advanced research is still needed to substantiate the expeditious nature and sensitivity of biosensors for rapid and in situ analysis of foodborne pathogens. This review summarizes recent developments in optical, piezoelectric, cell-based, and electrochemical biosensors for Listeria sp. detection in clinical diagnostics, food analysis, and environmental monitoring, and also lists their drawbacks and advantages

    Hemangioma of Tongue with Abrupt Growth Onset: A Rare Case Report

    Hemangiomas of the oral cavity are uncommon but have a predilection for the tongue. Although the majority of lingual hemangomas are superficial, certain lesions can affect the deep tongue or even the entire tongue. They're called hamartomas rather than genuine neoplasms. Author presents a case of haemangioma of the anterior 2/3rd of the tongue involving both ventral and dorsal aspects, and ascertaining the diagnostic evaluation and emphasizing the role of color doppler ultrasonography and contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging in unrevealing the diagnostic dilemma of the lesion, and further helping in deciding the level of the management.     Effective removal of methylene blue using nanoscale manganese oxide rods and spheres derived from different precursors of manganese

    Nanoscale manganese oxide with different morphologies were developed at room temperature using different precursor salts (potassium permanganate and manganese sulfate). The obtained nanoscale morphologies, i.e., rod and sphere-shaped were characterized using BET surface area analyzer, SEM, TEM, and XRD. The manganese oxide possessed the rod and sphere-like morphologies with different pore structures. The adsorption of methylene blue on mesoporous manganese oxide followed the pseudo-second-order kinetics and best fitted with the Freundlich adsorption isotherm model with a removal capacity of 2914 mg g−1. The effect of irradiation time on degradation efficiency was also examined, which followed the first-order kinetics with a degradation efficiency of 93.12%. Furthermore, the recycling studies revealed that the spherical manganese oxide retained over 90% of the photodegradation efficiency after three cycles of methylene blue degradation, which proves its stability for practical applications. Therefore, mesoporous manganese oxide with significant adsorption and remarkable photodegradation capability can provide a way forward to fine-tune the material's properties for effective environmental remediation.</p

    Scientometric Analysis for Cross-Laminated Timber in the Context of Construction 4.0

    Cross-laminated timber (CLT) has been one of the principal materials in mass timber construction, and now it is possible to find mid-rise and high-rise projects around the globe. This study makes a scientometric review comparison between CLT and the impact of the fourth industrial revolution (formally known as Industry 4.0) in the construction industry, focusing on worldwide academic publications between 2006 and 2022. The analysis considers keywords, co-author, co-citation, and clustering analysis. This study used 1320 documents, including journals and conference proceedings from the Scopus database, where 753 were for cross-laminated timber and 567 for Industry 4.0. Key researchers, research institutions, journals, publications, citation patterns, and trends are some of the results obtained from the scientometric analysis. Once the knowledge mapping was conducted for both fields, scrutiny of the interconnection of both areas was performed to find possible research gaps from a manufacturing perspective. Among the conclusions, it is logical to say that Industry 4.0 implementation in cross-laminated timber is still in its infancy. One of the most popular technologies impacting construction is the digital twin concept; however, no work is reported for CLT on this topic. Additionally, digital automation is a necessity in any research practice, and the use of industrial robots is shown to be an essential asset for CLT as these robots can handle complex shapes
