State-homomorphisms on -algebras
summary:Riečan [12] and Chovanec [1] investigated states in -algebras. Earlier, Riečan [11] had dealt with analogous ideas in -posets. In the monograph of Riečan and Neubrunn [13] (Chapter 9) the notion of state is applied in the theory of probability on -algebras. We remark that a different definition of a state in an -algebra has been applied by Mundici [9], [10] (namely, the condition (iii) from Definition 1.1 above was not included in his definition of a state; in other words, only finite additivity was assumed). Below we work with the definition from [13]; but, in order to avoid terminological problems we use the term “state-homomorphism” (instead of “state”). The author is indebted to the referee for his suggestion concerning terminology. Let be an -algebra which is defined on a set with . In the present paper we show that there exists a one-to-one correspondence between the system of all state-homomorphisms on and the system of all -closed maximal ideals of . For -algebras we apply the notation and the definitions as in Gluschankof [3]. The relations between -algebras and abelian lattice ordered groups (cf. Mundici [8]) are substantially used in the present paper
A VCO Based Highly Digital Temperature Sensor With 0.034°C/mV Supply Sensitivity
A self-referenced VCO-based temperature sensor with reduced supply sensitivity is presented. The proposed sensor converts temperature information to frequency and then into digital bits. A novel sensing technique is proposed in which temperature information is acquired by evaluating the ratio of the output frequencies of two ring oscillators, designed to have different temperature sensitivities, thus avoiding the need for an external frequency reference. Reduced supply sensitivity is achieved by employing the voltage dependence of junction capacitance, thus avoiding the overhead of a voltage regulator. Fabricated in a 65 nm CMOS process, the prototype can operate with supply voltages ranging from 0.85 V to 1.1 V. It achieves supply sensitivity of 0.034 °C/mV and an inaccuracy of ±0.9 °C and ±2.3 °C from 0 to 100 °C after 2-point calibration, with and without static nonlinearity correction, respectively. The proposed sensor achieves 0.3 °C resolution, and a resolution FoM of 0.3 nJK2. The prototype occupies a die area of 0.004 mm2.Accepted Author ManuscriptMicroelectronic
Design and Mitigation Techniques of MV Capacitor Bank Switching Transients on 132 KV Substation
This paper presents the techniques to mitigate transients caused by capacitor switching in the distribution system. It includes the theory of capacitive switching transients with different methods of mitigation. The paper uses MATLAB SIMULINK software package to simulate the specific mitigation devices. The mathematical calculations of different parameters such as transient voltages, current, and frequencies for each device are compared with obtained value from the simulations of each case study. A 60 mV Input Voltage, Process Tolerant Start-Up System for Thermoelectric Energy Harvesting
This paper presents a 60 mV input voltage start-up system for thermoelectric energy harvesting. A new process tolerant inverter cell is proposed, which is functional at supply voltages as low as 60 mV. Using the proposed unit cell, a ring oscillator has been implemented. The ring oscillator is followed by 40 charge-pump stages, an ultra-low-power level detector, and a boost converter. The energy harvesting system can generate an output voltage of 1 V and delivers a maximum power of 4.5 μW from a 60 mV supply. This system has been implemented in a standard 0.18 μm CMOS technology, uses neither zerothreshold voltage (normally-on) negative-channel metal-oxide semiconductor nor microelectromechanical systems switches and occupies 3.3 mm2.Accepted author manuscriptBio-Electronic
(∆mv ,f)-lacunary statistical convergence of order α
In this paper, we define the space Sαθ (∆mv, f) of all (∆mv, f)-lacunary statistical convergent sequences of order α with the help of unbounded modulus function f, lacunary sequence (θ), generalized difference operator ∆ mv and real number α ∈ (0, 1]. We also introduce the space ωαθ (∆mv, f) of all strong (∆mv, f)-lacunary summable sequences of order α. Properties related to these spaces are studied. Inclusion relations between spaces Sαθ (∆mv, f) and ωα θ (∆mv, f) are established under certain conditions
On some properties of quasi-MV algebras and √′ quasi-MV algebras. Part II
The present paper is a sequel to Paoli F, Ledda A, Giuntini R, Freytes H (On some properties of QMV algebras and √′ QMV algebras, submitted). We provide two representation results for quasi-MV algebras in terms of MV algebras enriched with additional structure; we investigate the lattices of subvarieties and subquasivarieties of quasi-MV algebras; we show that quasi-MV algebras, as well as cartesian and flat √′ quasi-MV algebras, have the amalgamation property. © Springer-Verlag 2007.We gratefully acknowledge the precious information and insights we gathered from conversations or e-mail exchanges with Roberto Giuntini and Danica Jakubikova-Studenovska. 25 GHz, 1 mV input resolution auxiliary circuit assisted comparator in 65 nm CMOS process
The need for the high-speed analogue-to-digital converters demands the use of regenerative comparators. The strong positive feedback present in the regenerative comparators helps the comparator to work efficiently at the high-speed operations. This work proposes a low power auxiliary circuit to improve the high-frequency performance of the comparator. The proposed architecture along with the conventional comparators is simulated in 65-nm complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology with a supply voltage of 0.9 V. The maximum operating frequency of the proposed comparator is 6.25 GHz for a differential input voltage of 1 mV
Measles virus causes immunogenic cell death in human melanoma
NoOncolytic viruses (OV) are promising treatments for cancer, with several currently undergoing testing in randomised clinical trials. Measles virus (MV) has not yet been tested in models of human melanoma. This study demonstrates the efficacy of MV against human melanoma. It is increasingly recognised that an essential component of therapy with OV is the recruitment of host antitumour immune responses, both innate and adaptive. MV-mediated melanoma cell death is an inflammatory process, causing the release of inflammatory cytokines including type-1 interferons and the potent danger signal HMGB1. Here, using human in vitro models, we demonstrate that MV enhances innate antitumour activity, and that MV-mediated melanoma cell death is capable of stimulating a melanoma-specific adaptive immune response
Inputs Used in Modern Variety(MV) Paddy Farming and Household Income : A Comparative Study of Rice-prawn Gher and Year-round MV Paddy Farming System in Bangladesh
The present study attempts to examine the main inputs used in terms of volume and costs, such as irrigation, chemical fertilizers, pesticides and land plowing, for MV paddy production in rice-prawn and year-round MV paddy farming systems in Bangladesh. The study also aims to estimate the farmers’household income per capita and compare it with the average household income per capita among the people of Bangladesh. Ninety rice-prawn gher farmers from the village of Bilpabla in the Khulna district, and 100 year-round MV paddy farmers from the village of Chanchra in the Jessore district were randomly selected. The findings indicate that relatively less chemical fertilizers are used per unit in MV paddy production compared with the year-round MV paddy production. Similarly, the per unit irrigation costs and land plowing costs were also lower in MV paddy production under the rice-prawn gher farming system compared with the year-round MV paddy farming in Bangladesh. Even though the per unit yields of MV paddy under the gher farming system was higher in comparison with the year-round MV paddy farming. The gher farming system has also created a demand for more labor, both for temporarily hired workers and family members. Farmers in the rice-prawn gher-farming village have gained more agricultural income as well as household income compared with those of the year-round MV paddy farming system in Bangladesh. Thus it could be concluded that the technologically advanced rice-prawn gher farming system is a more factor-intensive farming system compared with the year-round MV paddy farming in Bangladesh
A 10-mV-Startup-Voltage Thermoelectric Energy Harvesting System With a Piezoelectric Starter
An ultra-low-startup-voltage thermoelectric energy harvesting system assisted by a piezoelectric generator (PEG) is presented in this paper. When the energy harvesting system is implemented in a place where there is mechanical vibration, the associated PEG can generate a stable clock signal and drive the boost converter to start from the cold state even at extremely low thermoelectric generator (TEG) voltage. The proposed system is designed and simulated in a 180-nm BCD process. The simulations show that the proposed system can start the TEG system from the cold state from as low as 10 mV of TEG voltage while keeping a 63.9% efficiency. The peak power conversion efficiency is achieved at 74.9% when the TEG voltage is 50 mV.Green Open Access added to TU Delft Institutional Repository 'You share, we take care!' - Taverne project https://www.openaccess.nl/en/you-share-we-take-care Otherwise as indicated in the copyright section: the publisher is the copyright holder of this work and the author uses the Dutch legislation to make this work public.Electronic Instrumentatio
