Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

The increasingly dynamic development of social service centers in Poland in response to the ongoing changes in the social policy of the European Union emphasizing the need to develop services for citizens and the formation of a group of helping professions opens new opportunities and space for the use of the potential of educators.W artykule, poza zobrazowaniem niepokojącego stanu zaufania i solidarności międzyludzkiej w Polsce, skupiono się na wskazaniu znaczenia działania pedagoga w roli organizatora społeczności lokalnej, którego ważnym zadaniem jest osiągnięcie jakościowej zmiany w sposobie funkcjonowania społeczności lokalnej i międzyludzkich relacji. Wzmacnianie solidarnościowego współdziałania jest możliwe dzięki pracy środowiskowej ukierunkowanej na aktywizowanie społeczności lokalnych, czyli aktywizowanie sił ludzkich i społecznych oraz odkrywanie istniejącego potencjału społeczności lokalnej. Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. The importance of second-degree professional specialization in the professionalization process of social workers
No full textW artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań dotyczące oceny znaczenia dokształcania zawodowego w ramach specjalizacji II stopnia dokonanej przez pracowników socjalnych, uczestników szkolenia w ramach projektu pt. „Nowe specjalności II stopnia w zawodzie pracownika socjalnego odpowiedzią na nowe wyzwania”. Specjalizacja obejmowała przygotowanie do nowych specjalności: animator społeczności lokalnej; asystentura i mediacja socjalna oraz organizator usług socjalnych. Podstawą teoretyczną prowadzonych analiz było zagadnienie profesjonalizacji zawodu pracownika socjalnego związanej z nabywaniem wiedzy, kompetencji i umiejętności, co ma istotny wpływ na sposób realizacji określonych celów i zadań w pracy socjalnej.The article presents research results on the significance assessment of supplementary vocational training as a part of 2nd degree specialisation undertaken by social workers, who have participated in the project: “New 2nd degree specialisation in the profession of social worker as an answer to new challenges” (Polish: Nowe specjalności II stopnia w zawodzie pracownika socjalnego odpowiedzią na nowe wyzwania), in terms of completely new specialisations: local community animator, Assistantship and social mediation and social services organiser. A theoretical background for the analysis has been the issue of the professionalisation of the social worker profession resulting from acquiring knowledge, competences and skills, which has a fundamental impact on the way deliverables and tasks in social work are executed

No full textWspółcześnie w zakresie wsparcia rodziny znajdującej się w sytuacji problemowej - kryzysowej stosowanych jest wiele rozwiązań – od systemowej pomocy społecznej, asystentury rodzin po działania terapeutyczne. Ciężar odpowiedzialności za wsparcie rodzin w kryzysie, a w nich dzieci przyjmują instytucje państwowe, czy też coraz częściej organizacje pozarządowe, które jednak działają w oparciu o już utrwalone w pomocy społecznej formy wsparcia. Szansę na efektywne wsparcie należy jednak upatrywać w działaniach, które dostrzegają potencjał rodziny i jej zdolność przy ukierunkowanym wsparciu do samoorganizowania się. W podejście takie wpisuje się wsparcie oferowane dzięki coraz bardziej zapominanej Konferencji Grupy Rodzinnej oraz jeszcze mało rozpowszechnionej w pomocy społecznej Rodziny Wspierającej.Nowadays, in terms of supporting a family in a problem-crisis situation, many solutions are used - from systemic social assistance, family assistantship to therapeutic activities. The burden of responsibility for supporting families in crisis, and children in them, is assumed by state institutions, or increasingly NGOs, which, however, operate on the basis of already established forms of support in social welfare. The opportunity for effective support, however, should be seen in activities that recognize the potential of the family and its ability, with targeted support, to self-organize. The support offered through the Family Group Conference and Family Support fits into this approach

The universality of the support and care processes as a task and challenge for the Social Services Centre
No full textW artykule przedstawiono dokonującą się zmianę w dotychczasowej pomocy społecznej, która dokonywana jest selektywnie tj. z ukierunkowaniem na wsparcie i pomoc osobom znajdującym się w szczególnie trudnej sytuacji życiowej. Zmiana koncentruje się na działalności usługowej zapewniającej powszechność opieki i wsparcia skierowanej do wszystkich obywateli. Podstawę prawna dla tej zmiany stanowi Ustawa o realizacji usług społecznych przez centra usług społecznych z dnia 19 lipca 2019 r., która umożliwia tworzenie centrów usług społecznych w środowiskach lokalnych.The article presents the ongoing change of current social assistance, which is made selectively, i.e., with a focus on supporting and assisting people in a particularly difficult life situation. The change focuses on service activities that ensure universal care and support for all citizens. The legal basis for this change is the Act on the provision of social services by social service centres [pl. Ustawa o realizacji usług społecznych przez centra usług społecznych] of July 19 2019 which enables the creation of social service centres in local communities
