No full textThe semiarid plains of western Kansas and eastern Colorado are hardly the setting for an agricultural empire, but it was here that former field hand John Kriss managed G-K Farms for Wichita entrepreneur Ray Garvey. Their enterprise became one of the largest wheat operations on the plains and yielded Kriss a one million bushel crop. Harvesting the High Plains is the rags-to-riches story of how Kriss applied hard work and common sense to make large-scale farming work under the most adverse conditions. Drawing on correspondence between Kriss and Garvey, it tells how the two men had to make innumerable decisions about the purchase of expensive machinery and of ever larger tracts of land, and how Kriss kept detailed records of crops and rainfall to manage the land carefully, farming thousands of acres in an environmentally sensitive way and retaining a viable operation even during the Dust Bowl years

No full textThis little (5½x almost 4½) volume represents a curiosity, a conundrum, or perhaps just a simple mistake. It is clearly labeled on cover and title-page as The Book of Fables, but the contents (pages 5 through 64) seem to be entirely conundrums. Many of the pages are also headed Conundrums. Did a printer make a mistake in matching signatures? One conundrum at least refers to a fable (about the mountain that gave birth to a mouse, 54). Several images may well be from plates for fable books: the injured lion (48), OF (50), the mountain and mouse (54), and the angler (with a small fish?, 55). The back cover with its list of publications in Kriss Kringle's library would be helpful if it had not lost most of its print! Do not miss the image of a very early train on 31.Val Biro

Till undersökningen har intervjuer gjorts med marknadschefen och en inköpare på KRISS huvudkontor. Resultatet av undersökningen visar att företagets produktutveckling innefattar sju steg varav det sista steget var för författarna sedan tidigare okänt och gav därav ytterligare kunskap inom området produktutveckling
