Ethical approaches to family planning in Africa
Africa has historically provided the geographical flashpoint of ethical issues relating to family planning programs. Until recently in Sub-Saharan Africa, advocacy of family planning by non-Africans was unacceptable and by Africans politically inadvisable. This has changed in the 1980s. The health rationale for family planning is backed by strong evidence, especially in Africa, where infant and maternal mortality and morbidity rates are high. Population growth in many African countries impedes development, which cannot keep up with needs. Earlier attempts to offer family planning aid were often politically inept and endangered the needed partnership between donor and developing countries. Theoretical arguments and abstract demographic projections are less persuasive than carefully designed programs geared to the health and well-being of communitities that help plan them. Increased cooperation between donor and developing countries has helped resolve some of the ethical difficulties that beset family planning programs. Shared read-write registers help processes in a shared-memory system to communicate by performing read and write operations on them. In this thesis, we study the wait-free simulations of
shared read-write registers using weaker shared registers, for two consistency conditions regularity and atomicity. We propose an algorithm which is a hybrid of the existing tree algorithm and
the clique algorithm such that it gives a trade-off between the two algorithms in the number of
read/write steps used and the number of base registers. We also explore if existing algorithms,
particularly the tree algorithm, can be extended to simulate multiple writer registers, since register
simulations in most prior works have been for single-writer registers
On the information flow required for the scalability of the stability of motion of approximately rigid formation
It is known in the literature on Automated Highway Systems that information flow can significantly affect the propagation of errors in spacing in a collection of vehicles. This thesis investigates this issue further for a homogeneous collection of vehicles. Specifically, we consider the effect of information flow on the propagation of errors in spacing and velocity in a collection of vehicles trying to maintain a rigid formation. The motion of each vehicle is modeled using a Linear Time Invariant (LTI) system. We consider undirected and connected information flow graphs, and assume that that each vehicle can communicate with a maximum of q(n) vehicles, where q(n) may vary with the size n of the collection. The feedback controller of each vehicle takes into account the aggregate errors in position and velocity of the vehicles, with which it is in direct communication. The controller is chosen in such a way that the resulting closed loop system is a Type-2 system. This implies that the loop transfer function must have at least two poles at the origin. We then show that if the loop transfer function has three or more poles at the origin, and if the size of the formation is sufficiently large, then the motion of the collection is unstable. Suppose l is the number of poles of the transfer function relating the position of a vehicle with the control input at the origin of the complex plane, and if the number (q(n)l+1)/(nl) -> 0 as n -> (Infinity), then we
show that there is a low frequency sinusoidal disturbance with unity maximum amplitude acting on each vehicle such that the maximum errors in spacing response increase at least as much as O (square_root(n^l/(q(n)^(l+1)) ) consequence of the results presented in this paper is that the maximum of the error in spacing and velocity of any vehicle can be made insensitive to the size of the collection only if there is at least one vehicle in the collection that communicates with at least O(square_root(n)) other vehicles in the collection
A Review on Bionic Arm
Bionic Arm is the best revolution idea for amputees across the world. This is as close as we can get to our natural limb. This paper is about the study of the prosthetic arm used for amputees and gives an overview of upper limb evolution based on control technologies. It focused on the mechanical parameters like actuation system and prototyping techniques that are required to meet the design specifications. The drive systems which hold the key for proper functioning are described and their pros and cons are stated. A review of materials for prosthetic applications and role of 3D printing as a manufacturing method is discussed This would further enable to choose a system based on variables like dexterity, patient's need, a weight of the system and feasibility. STRATEGI DAKWAH PROGRAM „SAI QOLBU‟ RADIO SAI 100 FM LAMPUNG DALAM PENYAMPAIAN PESAN DAKWAH PADA GENERASI MILENIAL LAMPUNG
ABSTRAK
Di tengah derasnya arus informasi yang sering kali bersifat dangkal
dan kurang mendidik, muncul kebutuhan akan konten dakwah yang
relevan, menarik, dan dapat diakses dengan mudah oleh audiens muda ini.
Program “Sai Qolbu” di Radio SAI 100 FM Lampung muncul sebagai
respon terhadap kebutuhan tersebut, dengan merancang strategi dakwah
yang mampu menjangkau, memengaruhi, dan memperkuat pemahaman
generasi milenial terhadap ajaran Islam. Tantangan utama yang dihadapi
adalah bagaimana menyampaikan pesan-pesan agama yang bermakna
dengan cara menarik dan sesuai dengan preferensi komunikasi generasi
milenial. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui Strategi
Dakwah Program Sai Qolbu Radio SAI 100 FM Lampung dalam
Penyampaian Pesan Dakwah pada Generasi Milenial Lampung.
Metode penelitian dalam penelitian menggunakan jenis penelitian
lapangan atau field research yang bersifat deskriptif dengan pendekatan
kualitatif. Sumber data dalam penelitian terdiri dari dua, yaitu data primer,
di mana informan dalam penelitian ditentukan oleh teknik purposive
sampling, sehingga didapatkan 11 informan. Kemudian, sumber data
sekunder yang terdiri dari artikel, literatur, jurnal, dan internet. Teknik
pengumpulan data yang penulis lakukan diantaranya melalui wawancara,
observasi dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu
Miles & Huberman melalui tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data, serta
menarik kesimpulan. Teori yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini, yaitu strategi
dakwah, pesan dakwah, dan generasi milenial.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pimpinan dan penanggung
jawab Program Sai Qolbu Radio SAI 100 FM Lampung dalam
menerapkan strategi dakwah pada program tersebut melalui tahapan
perencanaan yang matang, sehingga dapat mencapai tujuan yang
diinginkan dengan menerapkan lima asas prinsip strategi dakwah, yaitu
asas filosofis, asas kemampuan dan keahlian da‟i, asas sosiologis, asas
psikologis, serta asas efektivitas dan efisiensi. Keberhasilan strategi
dakwah program “Sai Qolbu” di Radio SAI 100 FM Lampung dalam
menyampaikan pesan dakwah tidak terlepas dari strategi yang dilakukan
oleh penyiar radio dan da‟i dengan menerapkan tiga strategi dakwah utama
yaitu strategi sentimental, strategi rasional, dan strategi indrawi.
Berdasarkan tiga prinsip strategi dakwah dan pesan dakwah, yang meliputi
aqidah yaitu cakupan masalah-masalah yang berhubungan erat dengan
rukun iman, kemudian syari‟ah, yaitu aturan yang dipakai oleh Islam
dalam mengamalkan ajaran-Nya, dan akhlak, merupakan tata cara manusia
dalam berhubungan dengan sang Khaliq, sesama manusia, dan seisi alam
semesta.

In the midst of the flood of information that often tends to be
superficial and less educational, there arises a need for relevant,
engaging, and easily accessible da'wah content for this young audience.
The "Sai Qolbu" program on Radio SAI 100 FM Lampung emerges as a
response to this need, designing da'wah strategies that can reach,
influence, and strengthen the understanding of the millennial generation
regarding Islamic teachings. The main challenge faced is how to convey
meaningful religious messages in an attractive manner that aligns with the
communication preferences of the millennial generation. The purpose of
this research is to understand the Da'wah Strategy of the Sai Qolbu
Program on Radio SAI 100 FM Lampung in conveying da'wah messages
to the millennial generation in Lampung.
The research method employed is field research of a descriptive
nature with a qualitative approach. The data sources in this study consist
of two types: primary data, where informants are determined using
purposive sampling, resulting in 11 informants, and secondary data
consisting of articles, literature, journals, and online sources. The data
collection techniques utilized by the author include interviews,
observations, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is
Miles & Huberman's framework, which involves data reduction, data
presentation, and drawing conclusions. The theories applied in this
research are da'wah strategy, da'wah messages, and the millennial
generation.
The research findings indicate that the leadership and responsible
parties of the Sai Qolbu Program on Radio SAI 100 FM Lampung
implement da'wah strategies through careful planning stages to achieve
the desired objectives by applying five fundamental principles of da'wah
strategy, namely the philosophical principle, the ability and expertise of
the da’i principle, the sociological principle, the psychological principle,
and the principle of effectiveness and efficiency. The success of the da'wah
strategy of the "Sai Qolbu" program on Radio SAI 100 FM Lampung in
conveying da'wah messages is inseparable from the strategies employed by
the radio presenters and da’i, which incorporate three main da'wah
strategies: sentimental strategy, rational strategy, and sensory strategy.
Based on the three principles of da'wah strategy and da'wah messages,
which include aqidah (faith) related to issues closely tied to the pillars of
faith, syari’ah (law) as the rules used by Islam to practice its teachings,
and akhlak (morality), which refers to human conduct in relation to the
Creator, fellow humans, and the universe.

In this thesis the author discuss "The Toki, Sai, and Koro in Japanese Sentences (Studies of Syntax and Semantics)". The author chose the title because toki, sai, and koro express the same thing but there are some differences and it leads to frequent errors for Japanese language learners, so it need a study to know the difference betwenn toki, sai, and koro.
The first step, author collected data through a variety of sources, then the writer sort the data and analyzes it using distributable and descriptive.
Toki has meaning which indicates a situation that happens suddenly, showing continuous events or habits of the past, and show event that occur only once. Sai has the meaning which shows the time and indicates the additional meaning like kikkake, chansu, or kikai 'opportunity' which there is a decision to be taken. Koro has the meaning that indicated uncertain times.

Combinatorial Path Planning for a System of Multiple Unmanned Vehicles
In this dissertation, the problem of planning the motion of m Unmanned Vehicles (UVs) (or simply vehicles) through n points in a plane is considered. A motion plan for a vehicle is given by the sequence of points and the corresponding angles at which each point must be visited by the vehicle. We require that each vehicle return to the same initial location(depot) at the same heading after visiting the points. The objective of the motion planning problem is to choose at most q(��� m) UVs and find their motion plans so that all the points are visited and the total cost of the tours of the chosen vehicles is a minimum amongst all the possible choices of vehicles and their tours. This problem is a generalization of the wellknown Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP) in many ways: (1) each UV takes the role of salesman (2) motion constraints of the UVs play an important role in determining the cost of travel between any two locations; in fact, the cost of the travel between any two locations depends on direction of travel along with the heading at the origin and destination, and (3) there is an additional combinatorial complexity stemming from the need to partition the points to be visited by each UV and the set of UVs that must be employed by the mission.
In this dissertation, a sub-optimal, two-step approach to motion planning is presented to solve this problem:(1) the combinatorial problem of choosing the vehicles and their associated tours is based on Euclidean distances between points and (2) once the sequence of points to be visited is specified, the heading at each point is determined based on a Dynamic Programming scheme. The solution to the first step is based on a generalization of Held-Karp���s method. We modify the Lagrangian heuristics for finding a close sub-optimal solution.
In the later chapters of the dissertation, we relax the assumption that all vehicles are homogenous. Changes in needle maneuver space and optimal insertion site for midline neuraxial puncture with progressive age: An analysis in computed tomography scans
Introduction: We systematically describe the morphology and accessibility of interspinous spaces across age groups of patients. Our primary goal was to objectively estimate if the maneuver space for a virtual spinal needle changes with age. Our secondary goal was to estimate if the optimal site and angle for midline neuraxial puncture change with age. Methods: Measurements were performed in mid-sagittal CT images. The CT images were retrospectively collected from the database of the Department of Radiology of our hospital. Three age groups were studied: 21-30 years (n=36, abbreviated Y(oung)), 51-60 years (n=43, abbreviated M(iddle-aged)) and older than 80 years (n=46, abbreviated Old). A needle trajectory is defined by the chosen puncture point and by the angle at which the needle is directed to its target. We define a Spinal Accessibility Index (SAI) by numerically integrating for an interspace all possible combinations of puncture points and angles that lead to a successful virtual puncture. Successful in this context means that the needle tip reaches the spinal or epidural space without bone contact. Reproducible calculation of the SAI was performed with the help of custom-made software. The larger the value of the SAI, the more possible successful needle trajectories exist that the practitioner may choose from. The optimal puncture point and optimal angle in an age group at a certain level of the spine are defined by the combination of these two, which generates the highest success rate of the entire sample of this age group. Results: At all levels of the spine, the median SAI differed significantly between age groups (independent-samples Kruskal-Wallis test, p<0.001-0.047). The SAI consistently decreased with increasing age. Post-hoc analyses using pairwise comparisons showed a significantly higher SAI in group Y versus Old at all levels (p<0.001 - 0.006) except at level thoracic (Th)1-Th2 (p=0.138). The SAI was significantly higher in group M versus Old at all levels (p<0.001-0.028) except at level Th1-Th2 (p=0.061), Th4-Th5 (p=0.083), Th9-Th10 (p=1.00) and Th10-Th11 (p=1.00). Conclusions: Needle maneuver space in midline neuraxial puncture significantly decreases with progressive age at all levels of the spine. Irrigation Performance Assessment in Krishna Western Delta Using Remote Sensing and GIS
Satellite provides a convenient platform to observe earth features, capable of giving spatial data, which is continuous in nature. Satellite imageries at regular intervals are useful in generating information on the status of irrigation commands at different time intervals for performance evaluation. The present study was carried out in Krishna Western Delta (KWD), with the data of IRS P6 (Resource Sat-I) LISS III to evaluate the overall performance of irrigation during Kharif 2005 in Modukur command using performance indicators and comparing with historical values using Earth Resource Data Analysis System (ERDAS) 9.0 and Model Crop Irrigation Water Requirement (CRIWAR). Crop Water Requirements in Comparison to Actual Water Applied in Some Canal Commands of Krishna Western Delta
The computer simulation model CRIWA Rwas applied to estimate the water requirement of kharifpaddy in Srirangapuram, Mutluru and Ponnur Channel Commands under Krishna Western Delta in Andhra Pradesh for the years 2000, 2001 and 2002. In the model, the FAO modified Penman method and the Penman Monteith method for evapotranspiration calculation was used. The data of canal water released and applied were obtained from the records of the State Irrigation Department. It was found that the farmers had applied 27.2 to 57.5 %more irrigation water than required in the years 2000 and 2001 while in the year 2002, it was 10.3 to 26.6 % less than the required quantity of water. In spite of applying more water, the average yield of paddy crop in the years 2000 and 2001 was less by 10.1 to 13.2 % when compared to the year 2002 indicating that applying excess water was not beneficial. Using the 10-year average weather data, the irrigation water requirement of paddy crop was predicted for a 10-day interval throughout the crop season
