Samarsky Igor Military Medical Clinical Centre of South region, Odesa, Ukraine   The study was aimed to evaluate the frequency of reperfusion injury after carotid artery surgery. It was found that reperfusion syndrome appeared in 27,9% patients when intraoperative administration of creatine phosphate was not applied. The use of intraoperative neuroprotection cut the frequency of reperfusion injury syndrome to 3.4% cases. The feasibility of intraoperative administration of creatine phosphate could improve the results of the surgical treatment of patients with stenotic lesions of carotid arteries is discussed.   Key words: carotid artery, reperfusion injury, surgery, treatment, prevention

A parody or cryptodialogue? Igor Severyanin’s „Это быгло у моря" and Boris Poplavski’s „Выг смотрели на море..."

Author disputes with Helene Menegaldo ’s idea, according to which Boris Poplavski’s Выгсмотрели на море... is a parody of Igor Severyanin’s Это быгло у моря. Formal and semanticanalysis of both texts presented in the article proves that Poplavski’s poem cannot be a parody,a pastiche, or a travesty of Severyanin’s work but rather an encrypted dialogue perfectly blendinginto various intertextual contexts typical for the world literature that scrutinizes eternal questions.Poplavski didn’t mock Это быгло у моря, he just bitterly commented in Bunin’s style on miniaturepoem of Severyanin pointing at volatility of happiness, swift elapsing of love infatuations andalso the role of chance which often decides about tragic human fate

There is a hypothesis that urate is not only the end product of the metabolism of purines like adenosine, but even more a novel target for neuroprotection. The purpose of this study, conducted in line with this hypothesis, is to clarify the relationship between the level of uricemia and EEG/HRV parameters both in men and women. Materials and Methods. The object of observation were almost healthy volunteers: 30 females (30÷76; 49±13 y) and 31 males (24÷69; 47±12 y). In basal conditions we estimated the state of the autonomous regulation by the method HRV, recorded EEG, determined level of uric acid and testosterone as well as estimated level of the trait and reactive anxiety. After 4 or 7 days, repeated testing was performed. Results. The method of canonical correlation analysis revealed a strong urato-neural relationships in both men (R=0,709; R2=0,503; Adjusted R2=0,393) and women (R=0,812; R2=0,659; Adjusted R2=0,542). Moreover, in women, the factor structure of the neural root is almost completely different from that in men, and also includes reactive anxiety and HRV parameters, which are absent in the factor structure of men. In addition, significant differences were found between the profiles of urato-neural correlations of women of reproductive age and postmenopausal women. Conclusion. The level of uricemia is significantly related to a number of parameters of EEG, HRV and anxiety. The strength and even the direction of the correlations are determined by factors linked to gender. Keywords: uricemia, EEG, HRV, anxiety, testosteroneemia, men, women

: 1 Introduction Finding Neighbours in-Dimensional Binary Digital Images Represented by Bintrees. Igor Metz Institut f ur Informatik und angewandte Mathematik Universit at Bern, CH - 3012 Bern Author's present address: GLUE Software Engineering, Ralligweg 10, CH-3012 Bern, email: [email protected], Tel +41 31 305 03 11, Fax +41 31 301 44 33 An algorithm for moving between adjacent regions in a binary digital image representated by a bintree is presented. This algorithm differs from other neighbour--finding algorithms in hierarchical image representations, as it exploits the nature of bintrees and thus can perform independently of any specific dimension of image or space. The algorithm is hybrid in its nature, as it uses a linear tree notation (locational codes) to find its way in a tree implemented with pointers. Image representation is a very important aspect of image processing, computer vision, and computer graphics. Depending on the application, different image representations are us..
