Get PDFFor more than 40 years, a debate on gender-related person references has been taking place in the German-speaking world. My contribution starts with a differentiation of four registers, which are currently practiced in writing and have developed specific reasoning discourses and specific social contexts of usage, as I try to show. I am going to examine these four styles of gendered person reference as “registers” in the sense of anthropological linguistics (Agha 2007). This concept of “enregisterment” implies that the producers connect themselves to a socio-symbolic cosmos and can be perceived with cultural evaluations (in production and reception), for example, as conservative, feminist, queer, liberal (Kotthoff 2017). Here I shall explore their (socio)linguistic underpinnings within conceptions of language ideology in order to grasp the communication-reflexive charges of these discourses
Ironieentwicklung unter interaktionslinguistischer Perspektive
No full textDer vorliegende Aufsatz gibt Einblick in ein Pilotprojekt zur Entwicklung von Ironie und vergleichbaren Formen der Kommunikation einer Bewertungskluft in Interaktionssituationen mit Schulkindern. Um Ironie zu verstehen, muss man davon ausgehen, dass Äußerungen verschiedene Bedeutungsschichten haben können. Man kann diesem Typus indirekten Sprechens nur Sinn zuordnen, wenn man generelle Haltungen des Sprechers inferieren kann, und diese Haltung dann gleichzeitig zum Ausgangspunkt nimmt, auch seine momentanen Intentionen und Ausdrucksformen zu erschließen. Kinder können das Verständnis einfacher Formen von Ironie nicht vor dem Alter von sechs Jahren bewerkstelligen (Markman 1979, Winner 1988), meist zwischen sieben und zwölf Jahren. Ich habe Ironie verschiedentlich in einem Bachtinschen Rahmen analysiert (Kotthoff, 2002, 2003a). Für die Studie zur Ironieentwicklung will ich den Ansatz der Vielstimmigkeit nutzen, um zu verfolgen, welche Bandbreite des Ironischen und Ironie-Ähnlichen neun Jahre alte Jungen verwenden. Das Spektrum ironischer Aktivitäten will ich mit dem Ziel einer Binnendifferenzierung erweitern. Ich werde innerhalb der Großkategorie des Ironischen verschiedene Subtypen zu unterscheiden versuchen. Einige Subtypen entsprechen dem Frotzeln und Necken, andere eher kritischen Kommentaren oder Fantasien, wieder andere der Echo-Ironie (im Sinne von Sperber/Wilson 1981). Bislang hat sich die Ironie-Forschung hauptsächlich mit der Indirektheitsdimension beschäftigt. Ich möchte auch zeigen, dass wir aus der Forschungsperspektive nicht nur die Pragmatik von Ironie rekonstruieren (die Kluft zwischen Gemeintem und Gesagtem), sondern auch die Metapragmatik ("stance", eine über Kontextualisierungsverfahren kommunizierte kritische oder freundlich-spielerische Sprechereinstellung, Beziehungsformation).publishe
