    This dataset is related to the scientific publication: "Genome-wide hydroxymethylation profiles in liver of female Nile tilapia with distinct growth performance". Abstract of related publication: The mechanisms underlying the fast genome evolution that occurs during animal domestication are poorly understood. Here, we present a genome-wide epigenetic dataset that quantifies DNA hydroxymethylation at single nucleotide resolution among full-sib Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) with distinct growth performance. In total, we obtained 355 million, 75 bp reads from 5 large- and 5 small-sized fish on an Illumina NextSeq500 platform. We identified several growth-related genes to be differentially hydroxymethylated, especially within gene bodies and promoters. Previously, we proposed that DNA hydroxymethylation greatly affects the earliest responses to adaptation and potentially drives genome evolution through its targeted enrichment and elevated nucleotide transversion rates. This dataset can be analysed in various contexts (e.g., epigenetics, evolution and growth) and compared to other epigenomic datasets in the future, namely DNA methylation and histone modifications. With forthcoming advancements in genome research, this hydroxymethylation dataset will also contribute to better understand the epigenetic regulation of key genomic features, such as cis-regulatory and transposable elements.     Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. However, disparities in vaccination rates across different communities revealed underlying inequalities in healthcare access. Especially in Harris County, one of the most diverse metropolitan areas in the United States, these underlying disparities were pronounced. The goal for this research is to explore the leading causes behind the marginal differences in COVID-19 vaccination rates across the Houston community. This study aims to uncover the systemic barriers that influenced vaccine uptake.     Comorbidities as Drivers of Patient Healthcare Utilization Patterns: Uses of Administrative Data in Modeling Disease-Mediated Interactions

    Steady increases in healthcare expenditures in the United States have prompted a variety of studies, pilot projects, and initiatives aimed at understanding and influencing the mechanisms that impact healthcare decisions and costs. Likewise, much effort has been spent understanding how individual diseases and comorbidities affect health outcomes. Summary measures such as hospital utilization rate lack granularity as a tool for clinicians or administrators. This work proposes a novel approach for modeling the direct relationship between comorbidities and healthcare utilization patterns. A model that directly interprets sequences of patient visits through the lens of patient diagnoses provides actionable, granular patient-level information that can directly inform clinical decisions, case management, and healthcare system design. Administrative data obtained from a healthcare insurance provider was used as the input for constructing the model. Modeling showed that patient movements between providers were highly patterned, and distinct groups of utilization patterns were observed within comorbidity clusters. Across all morbidities, increases in overall utilization were highly correlated with strings of repeated visits to medical specialists, although this trend was not as strong for psychiatric diagnoses.     Trump and the 2020 Election Tweet Sentiments and Virality

    As social media platforms continue to play an outsized role in American politics, it has become increasingly important to understand the workings of different parts of these platforms. Twitter (now X) was an influential tool for political communication during the U.S. 2020 Presidential Elections. It also served as a primary form of communication for Donald Trump, who heavily utilized it throughout his presidency and his campaigning during the 2020 election. The potential for a tweet to go viral can often influence its messaging. Thus, studying the correlation between the sentiment of a tweet and its virality could help in understanding how tweets go viral within the American political space. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to analyze longitudinal (Donald Trump's) and latitudinal (the 2020 election) datasets of tweets to understand how sentiment might play a role in the virality of American political tweets. This study used publicly available code and datasets to analyze the correlation between the sentiment of the tweet, the number of retweets, and the number of likes using a heatmap.     “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Analyzing Teacher Retention Rates: Movement Trends within Texas

    The public school teaching profession is often cited as "undervalued" by society in terms of how much it provides compared to how much it receives. Many reports state teachers leaving at alarmingly high rates due to a variety of reasons. Previous research indicates a national 8% of teachers leaving every year with emphasis on factors behind attrition rather than the teachers' destinations. This research project looks into exactly how teachers in Texas are moving and where they are moving through an in-depth data analysis of teachers, schools, and districts. The data used is from the Center for Research, Evaluation and Advancement of Teacher Education (CREATE), which contains comprehensive information of all public school teachers. With distinctions of how a teacher moves such as leaving the school but staying in the same district, the data shows that each scale of movement is roughly similar as time progressed. Throughout the state of Texas, net movement data shows that large city school districts are losing teachers while those suburban school districts are gaining districts; there is no discernable trend among rural districts.Mathematics, Department ofHonors Colleg
