Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Experimental study on the effect of hyperbaric oxygen therapy on the healing process of mandibular osteomyelitis in albino rats
No full text치의학과/박사[한글]저자는 생후 3개월 체중 200g 내외의 Sprague Dawley계 웅성백서 60두의 하악골에 골내창상, 하치조혈관 소작 및 Staphylococcus aureus 균주 주입으로 골수염을 유발시킨 후 대조군과 실험군 각 30두로 구분하고, 실험군을 2.5 기압하 100%산소에 하루 2시간씩, 주
6회 노출시키면서 기간별로 조직검경 및 99m**Tc-DMP를 이용한 골주사를 시행하여 치유과정을 비교관찰한 바 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다.
1. 병리조직학적 소견에서 대조군이 지속적이고 심한 염증세포침윤 및 농양형성을 보이는 반면 고압산소요법을 시행한 실험군은 2주부터 염증세포침윤이 감소되고 섬유아세포증식이 활발해지면서 3주째 농양형성이 중지되는 등 염증이 현저히 감소됨을 보였다.
2. 병리조직학적 소견에서 골주사제 (99m**TC-MDP)의 국소골 섭취의 증가와 밀접한 관련이 있는 모세혈관증식과 신생골 형성은 실험군에서 1주째부터 중등도의 모세혈관 증식이 관찰되었고, 2주에는 경도의 신생골 형성 및 왕성한 모세혈관증식상을 보이는 육아조직이 보였으며, 3주 이후에는 지속적인 모세혈관증식상이 관찰되었다.
3. 골주사 정적 영상 소견에서의 평균 방사성 활동도 비율은 대조군이 6주까지 서서히 증가되는 양상을 보인 반면, 실험군은 3주동안은 대조군에 비해 크게 증가하다가 4주 이후로는 오히려 감소되는 양상을 보였다.
[영문]The main objective of this study wart to observe the effects of hyperbaric oxygen therapy on the healing process mandibular osteomyelitis in Albino rats.
Author was able to produce the experimental osteomyelitis by formation of bone hole into the medullary cavity, cauterization of inferior alveolar vessel and insertion of containing 2.5-3.0×10**7 organisms of Staphylococcus aureus.
Author used 60 rats (Sprague-Dawley Strain) dividing into control(30) and experimental group(30) after establishment of mandibular osteomyelitis.
Experimental group received hyperbaric oxygen therapy(2hrs, daily at 2.5 ATA, 6 days a week) and effects of HBO therapy was observed by microscopically and bone scanning using **99m Tc-MDP.
The obtained results were as follows.
1. Microscopically, the experimental group showed significant decreasing tendency of inflammation in which at the 2nd week, decreased infiltration of inflammatory cells and active proliferation of fibroblasts, at the 3rd week, loss of pus
discharge were observed while the control showed continuing severe infiltration of inflammatory cells and pus discharge.
2. Microscopically, the experimental group showed moderate proliferation of capillary blood vessels at the 1st week, mild new bone formation and granulation tissues with active proliferation of capillary blood vessels at the 2nd week and
after then, continuing proliferation of capillary blood vessels, which findings seemed to have intimate relationship with local increased uptake of radioisotopes.
3. The static image of the bone scan demonstrated that the average radioactivity ratios have slowly increasing pattern during the whole experimental period in the control group, while in the experimental group, steep increasing until the 3rd week, after then, rather decreasing pattern than in the control group.restrictio

Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. No full textWe have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
