Inside North Korea. History and ideology of the regime through the figure of Kim Il Sung
The thesis reconstructs the historical and ideological formation of North Korea through the figure of Kim Il Sung, founder and first leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. By examining the Japanese occupation, the national liberation struggle, and the creation of the socialist state, the study highlights the leader’s key role in shaping a political system based on self-reliance (Juche ideology), the cult of personality, and the fusion of party, army, and state. This historical-interpretative approach clarifies how Kim Il Sung’s political project molded the identity of contemporary North Korea

An Analysis on the Governing Ideology of North Korea, Kim Il Sung-Kim Jong Ilism
With the official assumption into the office, Kim Jong Eun designated Kim Il Sung-Kim Jong Ilism as the governing ideology of North Korea. On April 11, 2012, the revised Party article announced that the North Korea Workers Party takes great Kim Il Sung-Kim Jong Ilism as a guidance for the development and behavior of the party. It is said that
the doctrine is the perfect revolution ideology that realizes the highest level of evolution of revolution ideology of the working class and the only righteous guiding thought during the Juche and Military-First era. Accordingly, the whole societys Kim Il Sung-Kim Jong Ilization for epochal requirement is narrated. The purpose of this study is to systematically explore the implications and characteristics of Kim Il Sung-Kim Jong Ilism. For this, it will analyze Kim Jong Il patriotism as an ideological implement for the establishment of Kim Il Sung-Kim Jong Ilism. The historical, objective, and realistic comprehension of the Juche and Military-First ideologies is prerequisite for the analysis of the doctrine. Namely, an approach to the new governing ideology based on the empirical analysis of the former ideologies is necessary. Additionally, it requires an analysis on how Kim Il Sung-Kim Jong Ilism is connected to
Kim Jong Ils patriotism. The new governing doctrine gives an emphasis on the loyalty to Kim Jong Eun from the Baekdu lineage and on learning after Kim Jong Il. This implies that following Kim Jong Ils patriotism, all people should contribute to developing a stronger country. Establishing a connection between Kim Il Sungs achievements and his ideology, and offering Kim Jong Ils ideology as the guiding ideology, Kim Jong Eun intends to maximize the unity and
mobilization of North Koreas general public

Replication Data for: "Migrant Care Workers in the Middle-Class Families: Immigration and Redistribution Preferences"
Existing studies have argued that immigrants reduce locals’ support for redistribution by undermining the perceived ethnic homogeneity of the country. In this paper, we suggest an alternative account for the relationship between immigration and redistribution by focusing on the often neglected role of migrants as care service providers. We argue that an increasing supply of migrant domestic care workers diminishes support for redistribution and public services among the middle and upper-middle class by enabling them to opt for private care services. Our argument provides an alternative mechanism that can explain Rueda (2018)’s empirical findings that immigration reduces support for redistribution primarily among the rich. In our replication analysis, we first show that the expected pattern of support for redistribution occurs only in countries with large migrant care markets. Furthermore, by subcategorizing social policies into unemployment benefits and child-care policy and analyzing individuals' preferences towards them, we find evidence that supports our alternative mechanism, alongside that proposed by Rueda(2018)

"Knowing that most interracial and international adoptions send children of color into Western Caucasian families, the artist and activist kimura byol-nathalie lemoine wanted to present another vision of what interracial adoption could be. To realize this, the artist Kim Waldron and kimura-lemoine decided to stage photographs of everyday life and key moments of the journey of a fictitious adoption. These photographs tell the story of a Caucasian woman adopted into a Canadian family of Korean descent. By this reversal, these images, at first sight banal, become interesting and intriguing here. The Kim Kim project elaborates Kim Waldron’s previous photographic and video work that incorporates self-portraiture into fictitious situations in order to challenge aspects of identity and social conditioning. Her photographic work uses a documentary aesthetic to make fictional propositions credible. This collaboration with kimura-lemoine uses the aesthetics of family photographs, a Korean family whose surname is Kim and Kim Waldron’s birth parents to create an imaginary and improbable tale of international adoption." -- Artexte website
