국문요약 25DoctoralFentanyl-induced cough (FIC) is often observed after intravenous bolus administration of fentanyl during anesthesia induction. This meta-analysis assessed the efficacy of pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions to reduce the incidence of FIC. We searched for randomized controlled trials comparing the pharmacological or non-pharmacological interventions with the controls to prevent FIC; we included 28 studies retrieved from Pub-Med, Embase, and Cochrane Library. Overall incidence of FIC was approximately 31%. Lidocaine [odds ratio (OR) = 0.29, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.21 –0.39], N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor antagonists [OR = 0.09, 95% CI 0.02 – 0.42], propofol [OR = 0.07, 95% CI 0.01 – 0.36], α2 agonists [OR = 0.32, 95% CI 0.21 – 0.48], β2 agonists [OR = 0.10, 95% CI 0.03 – 0.30], fentanyl priming [OR = 0.33, 95% CI 0.19 – 0.56], and slow injection of fentanyl [OR = 0.25, 95% CI 0.11 – 0.58)] were effective in decreasing the incidence of FIC, whereas atropine [OR = 1.10, 95% CI 0.58 – 2.11] and benzodiazepines [OR = 2.04, 95% CI 1.33 – 3.13] were not effective. This meta-analysis found that lidocaine, NMDA receptor antagonists, propofol, α2 agonists, β2 agonists, and priming dose of fentanyl were effective in preventing FIC, but atropine and benzodiazepines were not. Slow injection of fentanyl was effective in preventing FIC, but results depend on the speed of administration

학위논문(석사) - 한국과학기술원 : 물리학과, 2004.2, [ vi, 50 p. ]We perform first-principles pseudopotential calculations to investigate the magnetic properties of Ti-coated graphene sheets and carbon nanotubes. We examine the dependence of the magnetic property on pseudopotential and exchange-correlation functional. We find the magnetic properties are similar, although the magnetic moments and stability of ferromagnetic solutions depend on pseudopotential and exchange-correlation functional. For one monolayer coverage of Ti, both graphene sheet and carbon nanotube are found to be ferromagnetic, with the magnetic moments of 1.62 and 1.46 \mu_{\vcy} per Ti atom, respectively. On the graphene sheet, however, the magnetic moment decreases very rapidly with increasing of the Ti coverage. Based on the analysis of the localized states near the Fermi level, we discuss the origin of ferromagnetic solution in Ti films and nanowires.한국과학기술원 : 물리학과
Robust Detection of Presence of Individuals in an Indoor Environment Using IR-UWB Radar
In this paper, we propose a robust detection method to determine the presence of individuals in an indoor environment by exploiting an impulse-radio ultra-wideband (IR-UWB) radar. Detection of the presence of individuals in an indoor environment using IR-UWB is not a trivial problem because real indoor environments provide heavy clutter components and spurious ones due to multipath effects. The study mainly discusses two difficulties involved in detecting an individual in an indoor environment, namely, how to reduce the clutter in an indoor environment and how to detect a very low radar cross section (RCS) target, i.e., an individual lying down. To reduce clutter components in indoor environments, we investigated several clutter reduction techniques in terms of detecting a standing individual and an individual lying down. However, even after clutter reduction, detection of an individual lying down continues to pose a challenge. Thus, we devised a novel two-stage detection scheme that first involves detection in the range domain, and then in the frequency domain, thereby resulting in good detection performance in terms of a high detection rate and a low false alarm rate. Deep Learning Approach for Radar-based People Counting
With the development of deep learning (DL) frameworks in the field of pattern recognition, DL-based algorithms have outperformed handcrafted feature (HF)-based ones in various applications. However, there still exist several challenges in applying the DL framework to a radar-based people counting (RPC) task: The powerful representation capacity of a deep neural network (DNN) learns not only the desired human-induced components but also unwanted nuisance factors, and available data for RPC is usually insufficient to train a huge-sized DNN, leading to an increased possibility of overfitting. To tackle this problem, we propose novel solutions for the successful application of the DL framework to the RPC task from various perspectives. First, we newly formulate the preprocessing pipelines to transform the raw received radar echoes into a better-matched form for a DNN. Second, we devise a novel backbone architecture that reflects the spatiotemporal characteristics of the radar signals, while relieving the burden on training through a parameter efficient design. Finally, an unsupervised pre-training process and a newly defined loss function are proposed for further stabilized network convergence. Several experimental results using real measured data show that the proposed scheme enables an effective utilization of DL for RPC, achieving a significant performance improvement compared to conventional RPC methods.11Nsciescopu
Association of menopausal hormone therapy with gastric and colorectal cancer risks in Korean women: A nationwide population-based cohort study
Background: Menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) has been associated with a decreased risk of gastric cancer (GC) and colorectal cancer (CRC); however, few studies have been conducted in diverse ethnic groups, particularly in the Asian population. Therefore, the current study evaluated if MHT is inversely associated with GC and CRC in East Asia using a representative population-based study in Korea. Methods: This retrospective cohort study was conducted using the National Health Insurance Service–National Sample Cohort 2.0 in South Korea from 2002 to 2015. A total of 196,095 women aged ≥40 years were included in the study. The numbers of participants who did and did not use MHT were 19,063 (9.7 %) and 177,032 (90.3 %), respectively. Hazard ratios (HRs) and the corresponding 95 % confidence intervals (CIs) were estimated using a time-dependent Cox proportional hazards model. Age was considered as a time scale, and other confounding factors, including income levels based on insurance premiums, region of residence, and comorbidities, were included in the multivariable-adjusted model. Results: The total number of incident cases of GC and CRC were 1339 (0.68 %) and 1428 (0.73 %), respectively. We observed an inverse association of the use of estrogen replacement therapy (ERT; estrogen-containing therapy regardless of other regimen types) with GC [HR (95 % CI):0.68 (0.51–0.90)], CRC [0.57 (0.42–0.78)] and gastrointestinal cancer [GI, 0.63 (0.51–0.77)]. In the analyses by CRC subsite, the risks of both colon and rectal cancers were associated with ERT. In addition, both estrogen and combined estrogen and progestogen regimens were significantly associated with CRC and GI cancer. Conclusion: ERT was associated with a decreased risk of GC and CRC. Our findings support the protective effect of estrogen against GC and CRC in Korean women. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.N

Expression of P-glycoprotein and Apoptosis in Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma
Background: Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common type of malignant lymphoma which responds well to conventional chemotherapy. However, quite a few patients have a recurrence with more aggressive forms after completion of therapy. Multidrug resistance proteins (MRP) are related to this process in several ways such as cell cycle alteration and modulation of apoptosis. Methods : We investigated the expression of P-glycoprotein (Gp), one of the well-known MRP, as well as apoptosis associated proteins in DLBCL. Immunohistochemical staining for Gp, p53, 1362, Ki-67, active caspase 3 and FADD was done in forty DLBCL cases. The association between MRP and apoptosis associated proteins to clinical findings was also tested. Results : Twenty-nine patients out of 40 (73%) with DLBCL were positive for Gp, and 26 cases (65%) had a strong positive for Gp. Gp expression was stronger in high-grade lesions than in low-grade lesions and was associated to Bcl-2 expression. However, we could not find an adverse impact of Gp expression on patients' overall survival or relapse free survival rate. Conclusions : Our study revealed a high frequency of expression for Gp in DLBCL with a possible relationship between the expressions of Gp to apoptosis associated proteins.Y
Exploring Cognitive Playfulness Through Zero Interactions
Many emerging technologies, products and services today try to use diverse methods of interaction to provide playful experiences. Increasingly more interactive features and techniques are being introduced to afford users new experiences and enrich our living environment. While many of these playful experiences can be achieved through various types of physical, sensory and social interactions, this paper attempts to focus on how 'no-interaction' can achieve playfulness in relation to our cognitive experience. If there is a way to give someone a playful experience without any physical, sensory and social interactions, where and how can we apply this approach or phenomenon? Here we share a provocation that tries to demonstrate a tangible means whereby such an idea could be used to explore potential user experiences within HCI
