Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. 인체 내에 무수하게 존재하고 있는 단순반복염기서열 다형성표지자 중 미세위성 표지자 (microsatellite marker)는 개인에서 이형접합자 (heterozygote)를 보이는 비율이 높으며 또한 인간게놈 전체에 균일하면서도 다양하게 분포되어 있다는 점에서 단일염기변이 표지자 (SNP marker)보다 더 많은 정보를 얻을 수 있어 유전자진단을 비롯하여 그 밖의 인간 유전정보 분석에 유용하다. 이에 인간유전자지도가 완성되어감에 따른 염기서열데이터분석을 통해 6번 염색체 p12에서 q13영역까지의 위치에서 다양한 질환과 관련된 새로운 미세위성 표지자 (microsatellite marker)를 개발하고자 본 연구를 시행하였다. 염색체 6p12-q13 부위의 24 Mb 영역 내 염기서열 데이터베이스를 in silico search하여 (CA) 또는 (TG)가 20회 이상 반복되는 di-nucleotide repeats의 염기서열을 61개 영역에서 검색하였으며 그중 기존의 단연쇄반복 표지자 (STS marker)가 존재하지 않는 20개 영역에서 실험적으로 미세위성 표지자
(microsatellite marker)로서의 유효성을 검증하였다. 반복서열의 전후를 증폭할 수 있는 PCR 시발체 (Primer)를 작성하여, 각각의 경우에서 한국인 정상인 50명을 대상으로 신규 미세위성 표지자
(microsatellite marker)들의 heterozygosity와 PIC (polymorphism information content) value를 측정한 결과 heterozygosity는 0.4-0.9의 범위를 보였으며 각 대립유전자 (allele)간의 크기는 최고 104bp까지의 차이를 보이는 높은 다형성을 나타내었다.
염색체 6p12-q13 부위는 기존에 congential nystagmus 2, cone-rod dystrophy 7, Leber''s congenital amaurosis, dilated cardiomyopathy 등 여러 질환의 유전자가 존재하는 것으로 알려져 있으며 본 연구에서 새로 개발된 미세위성 표지자 (microsatellite marker)들은 이들 질환을 비롯한 기타 질병유전자의 탐색 및 진단에 있어 많은 이용가치가 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Microsatellite markers are still useful tools in genome analysis including DNA diagnosis. In addition, it may also provide more valuable information than SNP markers for some genes. In the present study, we have tried to develop new microsatellite markers within chromosome 6p12-q13 region using human genome sequence databases. Human genome sequence databases at UCSC and NCBI were used for in silico search of candidate regions of microsatellite markers. Computer program eTRF (Exact Tandem Repeats Finder) was developed to investigate the chromosomal region of 24Mb. After in silico search, 61 regions were identified as possible microsatellite markers that contain (CA) or (TG) repeats more than 20 times. Twenty among 61 regions which were found to be unique in human genome were selected for experimental validation. PCR primers were designed from flanking sequences of each region and heterozygosity were obtained with 50 individuals among Korean population. All of 20 regions revealed containing microsatellite markers.
Heterozygosities were between 0.4 - 0.9 and the maximum difference among the alleles were 104bp on average in Korean population. Many disease genes are mapped to chromosome 6 p12-q13 such as congenital nystagmus 2, cone-rod dystrophy 7, Leber''s congenital amaurosis and dilated cardiomyopathy. /New di-nucleotide repeat markers with high heterozygosity found in 6p12-q13 would be useful for linkage analysis and be useful resources to facilitate the identification of these disease genes.ope

Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
