Interdental Bone Level around Immediately Placed Implants at Maxillary and Mandibular Molar Sites: A Retrospective Radiographic Analysis
Background and Objectives: The current study aimed to compare the amount of interdental bone loss between early and immediate implant placements. Materials and Methods: A total of 16 immediate implants and 16 early implants radiographs were included in the current research. The bone level was assessed at two different stages: at the extraction appointment (T1) and after three to six months of implant placement (T2). A line was drawn from the cemento-enamel junction connecting adjacent teeth to the interdental line connecting the interdental alveolar crest at both stages. The difference between measurements in the T1 and T2 stages is the bone loss measurement for the early implant group. For the immediate implant placement sites, the measurements were taken from the interdental bone crest to the implant platform level. Results: A Mann–Whitney U test was performed to evaluate the differences between both groups. The descriptive statistics of the T1 and T2 stages for both groups suggest that the bone loss in the T2 stage was generally higher than T1 stage. The immediate implant group showed higher bone loss compared to the early implant group. Moreover, there was significantly higher bone loss (p = 0.039) in the immediate implant group compared to the early implant group. Conclusions: The results of this study indicate that immediate implant might have disadvantages over early implant in terms of bone loss after the extraction of maxillary and mandibular molar teeth
Trainer Kit Module for DC Motor Speed Control Using Voice Commands Based on Arduino
Based on the results of observations made by researchers through direct observation of lecturers in the field of electricity, Electrical Engineering Education Study Program, it was found that there is a need for additional trainers as learning media in the electrical machine control course. This study aims to find out how to design a trainer kit design module for DC motor speed control using voice commands by utilizing the Arduino microcontroller. We also learned the results of testing the design of a trainer kit design module for DC motor speed control using voice commands by utilizing the Arduino microcontroller. The research method researchers use is the Research and Development (R&D) method, which aims to develop new products or innovations that benefit. Based on the results of expert validation, it can be concluded that the Arduino Microcontroller-Based Trainer Kit Practical Module obtained a high percentage of media experts at 96%, material experts at 95.5%, and language experts at 80%. These results indicate that this module gets the "Very Eligible" category to be applied to the Electrical Machine Control course
The Radiographic Assessment of Furcation Area in Maxillary and Mandibular First Molars while Considering the New Classification of Periodontal Disease
This study aimed to evaluate the radiographic reliability in the diagnosis of furcation involvement in first molars. A total of 52 subjects were included in the current study. Personal history regarding smoking was recorded and a periodontal examination was performed. Pocket depth (PD), clinical attachment level (CAL), gingival recession, and furcation involvement in all first molars were assessed for each patient. Periodontal staging and grading were evaluated using the new classification of periodontal disease. Class II and Class III furcation classification were more frequently observed in radiographs than the Class I furcation; however, no significant differences were observed. Radiographic observation of the furcation was seen more when PD and CAL were >5 mm in all molars. The presence of gingival recession and its relation to the radiographic assessment did not reveal any statistically significant association (p > 0.05) except for tooth #16. The trend of visibility of furcation radiographically was more as the grade of staging was increased. Moreover, the presence of smoking habits and visibility of furcation radiographically did not have any statistical significance. Smoking may not be a factor in the furcation involvement. There is a direct relationship between the staging and grading of the periodontitis and furcation involvement
Efficacy of Platelet-Rich Fibrin in Preserving Alveolar Ridge Volume and Reducing Postoperative Pain in Site Preservation of Post-Extracted Sockets
Background and Objectives: In socket preservation, the goal is to minimize bone resorption after tooth extraction to maintain the volume and contour of the alveolar ridge. The use of PRF in post extraction sites may reduce ridge resorption by encouraging the growth of new bone and acting as a scaffold for tissue. In addition, PRF may enhance healing and minimize postoperative pain. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) in maintaining the ridges’ dimensions at the extraction site, in the maxilla and mandible, as well as its impact on post-extraction discomfort. Methods: The study was conducted on 60 patients presenting for extraction of posterior teeth and was randomly divided into three groups: group I PRF (n = 20), group II PRF + collagen (n = 20), and group III control (n = 20). Sockets were filled with PRF (group I) and PRF + collagen (group II). At baseline and follow-up after 3 months, CBCT was used to assess the bone dimensions. The postoperative pain evaluations were performed at 24 h, 3 days, and 7 days after the tooth extraction. The pain rate was evaluated using a numerical rating scale from the British Pain Society. Results: The study examined the effects of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) and PRF combined with collagen on the height and width of the ridges, as well as the pain experienced by the patients following alveolar ridge preservation surgery. ANOVA and t-tests were used to evaluate and compare the ridge dimensions. Comparing the results to the control group, there were no significant differences in the height or width of the ridges. However, both the PRF and PRF + Collaplug® treatments effectively reduced the short-term postoperative pain. Conclusions: The study findings suggest that platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) and PRF combined with collagen do not exert significant effects on ridge width and height compared to the standard treatment following alveolar ridge preservation. However, it is noteworthy that both the PRF and PRF + collagen treatments demonstrated efficacy in reducing postoperative pain in the short term, offering a potential advantage over standard treatment protocols
An Improved Acoustic Scene Classification Method Using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs)
Predicting acoustic environment by analyzing and classifying sound recording of the scene is an emerging research area. This paper presents and compares different acoustic scene classification (ASC) methods to differentiate between different acoustic environments. In particular, two deep learning techniques of classifica-tion i.e. Deep Neural Network (DNN) and Convolution Neural Network (CNN) have been applied using a combination of Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCCs) and Log Mel energies as features. DNN and CNN are state-of-the-art techniques which are being used widely in speech recognition, computer vision, and natural language processing applications. These techniques have recently achieved great success in the field of audio classification for various applications. Both techniques have been implemented and tuned by performing a variety of experiments with different hyper parameters, hidden layers and units on public benchmark datasets provided in the DCASE 2017 challenge. The proposed method uses frame level randomization of the combined acoustic features i.e. MFCC and log mel energy, for training of model to achieve higher accuracy with DNN and CNN. It has reported higher accuracy than the previous work done on public benchmark datasets provided in the DCASE 2017 challenge. It is observed that DNN achieved 83.45% and CNN achieved 83.65% accuracy that is higher than the previous work done on public benchmark datasets provided in the DCASE 2017 challenge
Pain Assessment and Need for Analgesics after Scaling and Root Planing in Patients with Stage II and Stage III Periodontitis
Background and Objectives: The most common treatment procedure for periodontitis and gingivitis is scaling and root planing, which is perceived as a painful dental treatment. The current study aimed to assess pain perception and analgesics consumption after scaling and root planing (SRP) in patients with stage II and stage III periodontitis. Materials and Methods: Before starting the SRP, all the periodontal parameters, such as probing depth (PD), bleeding on probing (BOP), and clinical attachment level (CAL), were measured. The anxiety level of the patients was also assessed using the modified dental anxiety scale (MDAS) questionnaire. Pain perception of the patients was recorded with the visual analog scale (VAS) after performing the SRP. Patients were asked to mark their pain level on the VAS sheet after two hours, four hours, eight hours, 24 h, and 48 h after the periodontal treatment. The following cut-off points were used for the pain intensity in the VAS: 0 = no pain, 1–4 = mild pain, 4–6 = moderate pain, and 7–10 = severe pain. Patients were advised to take analgesics if the pain was intolerable. Multivariate logistic regression was performed to conduct the association of all dependent variables and the pain perception of patients. A nonparametric Friedman test was conducted to assess pain perception at different times. Results: A total of 52 patients including 32 males and 20 females participated in the current study, with a mean age of 43.10 ± 12.33 years. Multivariate analyses showed that MDAS and analgesic consumption is significantly associated with pain perception. Other clinical variables are not associated with pain perception. The Friedman test exhibited that pain perception is significantly associated (p < 0.05) with time. Conclusions: Analgesic consumption and anxiety level are significantly associated with pain perception after SRP treatment
Quality of Reporting Randomized Controlled Trials Published in Three of the Most Citable Periodontal Journals from 2018 to 2022
This study aimed to evaluate the reporting quality of randomized clinical trials (RCTs) in periodontology. Three leading periodontology journals, the Journal of Periodontology (JOP), the Journal of Clinical Periodontology (JOCP), and the Journal of Periodontal Research (JOPR), were selected for this investigation. The RCTs were identified by manually searching for human trial articles published in these three journals. Two authors independently conducted the literature search, and a pre-piloted extraction sheet was used to screen the potential RCTs. The CONSORT checklist guidelines were employed to calculate the score value. Intra-examiner reliability was assessed by scoring a random sample of 10% of the papers in a second round conducted by the first examiner three months after the initial data collection. A search of abstracts published over a five-year period yielded 176 articles that reported RCTs, accounting for 11.7% of all articles published in the three journals. The highest number of RCTs was published in 2020, and more than half of the included RCTs (51%) originated from Europe. Many of the analyzed RCTs inadequately reported almost half of the items on the CONSORT checklist. Furthermore, univariate analysis revealed significant associations between certain factors and the overall CONSORT score, such as publication in JOP (p = 0.048), publication year of 2019 (p = 0.041) and 2021 (p = 0.042), first author from North America (p = 0.016), and RCTs with more than six authors (p = 0.042). Clinical trial research in periodontics has made significant progress in the past five years. However, there is room for improvement in adhering to the CONSORT guidelines
Modeling of Employee Recruitment Process through UML
Nowadays the organizations are functioning in a very competitive and aggressive environment. We have seen that every organization needed to recruit the employee for their work. It is well known that the organizations are facing the problem to keep their employee with their organizations because demand of employee higher salary or left organization or some other circumstances like change organization, low performance in the work or death of employee etc. The objective of this paper is to design a Unified Modeling Language (UML) model for recruiting the employee in the organization in a simple, systematic and effective way and also proposed the sequence and activity diagram for the above model. Assessment of knowledge and practices of additive manufacturing in dentistry among university teaching faculty in Saudi Arabia
Abstract Background In recent era, digitalization in the dental sciences has been observed in wide ranges. This cross-sectional study aimed to assess knowledge and practice of additive manufacturing (AM) in dentistry among university teaching faculty in Saudi Arabia. Methods A questionnaire was prepared and validated to distribute to the different dental colleges in Saudi Arabia. The questionnaire was divided into three parts: demographic information, knowledge and practices of AM among the dental teaching faculty. After receiving all the responses, descriptive statistics were used for the frequency distribution of all the responses. Results A total of 367 responses were received from the different faculty members. Most of the participants were male (67.30%), holding assistant professor (52.50%) positions in the field of prosthodontics (23.40%). In terms of knowledge, even though most of the participants were aware of AM (64.30%); however, do not understand the AM techniques (33.50). Moreover, 71.90% of the participants had no experience working with AM and only 13.60% of participants used AM in their respective dental colleges. Conclusion AM techniques are not commonly used in the field of dentistry in Saudi Arabia; therefore, more platforms should have created to enhance the knowledge and practice of AM in the current population
Efektivitas pelaksanaan Kebijakan Peraturan Walikota Bandung nomor 315 tahun 2017 tentang Kawasan Tanpa Rokok: Studi kasus jual beli rokok di tempat fasilitas pelayanan kesehatan Kota Bandung

Rokok adalah hasil olahan tembakau yang didapat dari tanaman Nicotiana Tobacum, perilaku kebiasaan merokok berasal dari faktor diri pribadi dan lingkungan, bahaya rokok yaitu dari asap rokok yang dapat menyebabkan kanker. Perokok di Kota Bandung rata-rata merokok di usia produktif, terkait permasalahan rokok di Kota Bandung sudah mengkhawatirkan. Melihat dari bahaya rokok Pemerintah Kota Bandung bertujuan untuk melindungi masyarakat Kota Bandung melalui kebijakan Peraturan Walikota Bandung Nomor 315 tahun 2017 tentang Kawasan Tanpa Rokok ini harus dipakai oleh seluruh penyelenggara pemerintahan Kota Bandung dalam hal ini Dinas Kesehatan dan Satuan Polisi Pamong Praja merupakan pelaksana kebijakan tentang Kawasan Tanpa Rokok harus ada evaluasi melihat kendala dan upaya untuk mengetahui kelebihan dan kekurangan kebijakan Kawasan Tanpa Rokok. Oleh karena itu, pelaksanaan kebijakan dilaksanakan dalam rangka menciptakan kebijakan yang mempunyai kualitas, kuantitas serta ketepatan waktu dalam rangka mengetahui kelemahan dan kekuatan unsur pelaksanaan.
Tujuan dari penelitian yang dilakukan oleh peneliti ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektivitas pelaksanaan kebijakan tentang Kawasan Tanpa Rokok; untuk mengetahui kendala dalam pelaksanaan kebijakan Kawasan Tanpa Rokok; dan untuk mengetahui upaya yang dilakukan dalam mengatasi kendala-kendala dalam pelaksanaan kebijakan Kawasan Tanpa Rokok
Penulis menggunakan teori Budiani tentang efektivitas pelaksanaan kebijakan yang disandingkan dengan Peraturan Walikota Bandung Nomor 315 Tahun 2017 tentang Kawasan Tanpa Rokok yang memiliki minimal 4 unsur efektivitas dan dapat disesuaikan dengan pelaksanaan yang mengacu pada standar pelaksanaan kebijakan Kawasan Tanpa Rokok.
Metode penelitian menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif yang berbentuk kata, kalimat, sketsa, dan gambar. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi pada pelaksanaan kebijakan tentang Kawasan Tanpa Rokok.
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian efektivitas pelaksanaan kebijakan Kawasan Tanpa Rokok di Kota Bandung, selama periode 2 tahun pelaksanaan kebijakan Kawasan Tanpa Rokok sudah efektif. Terdapat Kendala yaitu adanya ketidaktahuan pelanggar terhadap kebijakan Kawasan Tanpa Rokok, Upaya agar pelaksanaan kebijakan berjalan efektif dijadikannya Peraturan Daerah agar ada sanksi yang membuat efek jera terhadap masyarakat

Cigarettes are tobacco products obtained from the plant Nicotiana Tobacum, smoking habits derived from personal and environmental factors, the dangers of cigarettes that come from cigarette smoke that can cause cancer. Smokers in the city of Bandung on average smoke in productive age, related to smoking in the city of Bandung have been worried. Looking at the dangers of cigarettes, the Bandung City Government requested protection of the people of Bandung City through the Bandung Mayor Regulation Number 315 of the Non Smoking Area, which must be purchased by all Bandung City government officials in this case the Health Office and the Civil Service Police Unit representing policy implementers about the Zone without Cigarettes must be seen and tried to get the advantages and disadvantages of a no-smoking policy. Therefore, the implementation of policies carried out within the framework of creating policies that have quality, requirements and timeliness in the framework of knowing weaknesses and strengths that are not implemented.
The purpose of the research carried out by this researcher was to study the evaluation of the implementation of policies on Non-Smoking Areas; to understand the problems in implementing the Non-Smoking Zone policy; and to understand the efforts made in overcoming the challenges in implementing the Non-Smoking Area
The author uses Budiani's theory of policy implementation coupled with the Mayor's Regulation of Bandung Number 315 of 2017 concerning Non-Smoking Areas which has a minimum of 4 not suitable and can be adjusted to the implementation in accordance with the standards of the Non-Smoking Area Policy.
The research method uses descriptive qualitative research methods consisting of words, sentences, sketches, and drawings. Data collection techniques used were interviews, observation and documentation on the implementation of policies regarding Non-Smoking Areas.
Based on the results of research on the implementation of the No Smoking Area policy in the city of Bandung, over a period of 2 years the implementation of the No Smoking Area policy was effective.
