A new generalized class of fractional operators with weight and respect to another function
This paper introduces and investigates the properties of a new generalized class of fractional differential and integral operators. Such newly class covers various definitions of fractional derivatives with singular and non-singular kernels, weighted fractional derivatives with respect to another function, as well as the new mixed fractional derivative in the sense of Caputo and Riemann-Liouville. Furthermore, the newly introduced class includes all existing forms of fractional integrals, weighted fractionalintegrals and also the weighted fractional integrals with respect to another function including Riemann-Liouville, Hadamard, Katugampola and Hattaf fractional integrals. Moreover, some fundamental properties of the new generalized class of fractional differential and integral operators are rigorously derived

Re-contextualisation and the Transformation of Meanings: A Critical Discourse Analysis of the Islamic State Pedagogical Discourse in Iraq
This article is an attempt to investigate the recontextualisation and transformation process involved in the pedagogic discourse of Islamic State classroom textbooks during its takeover of some parts of Iraq. The article uses an eclectic analytical framework comprising Bernstein's pedagogical model of recontextualization, Linell's levels of recontextualization, Fairclough's concept of genre mixing, Wodak's discourse-historical approach (DHA), and Barthes' model of visual semiotics. These mixed approaches are applied to the analysis of a variety of visual images of Islamic State published textbooks and classroom pedagogic visual aids downloaded from different websites. It is found that the meaning of the pedagogic discourse is transformed via interdiscursive recontextualisation processed in two reversal directions: a militarization of pedagogic discourse and a pedagogization of decapitation practice. Recontextualisation is exceptionally significant with regard to Islamic State jihadist pedagogic discourse that is reframed historically and ideologically to suit an extreme sense of religious intolerance which Islamic State prioritizes as a foundation of regaining and refreshing their lost Islamic caliphate
Utilizing Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) to Enhance English Language Proficiency among Yemeni EFL Learners
This quantitative study aimed to investigate the use of MOOCs in improving the English language skills of Yemeni EFL learners. It sought to explore the perceptions of Yemeni EFL learners regarding the impact of MOOCs on improving their English language skills, the potential benefits of using MOOCs for language learning, and the obstacles encountered by learners. The sample of the study consisted of 86 English learners, including both males and females, enrolled at three universities in Ibb City, Yemen during the academic year 2023-2024. Closed-ended questionnaires were used to collect quantitative data, which was then analyzed using the SPSS statistical program. The findings of the study revealed that Yemeni EFL learners held an overall positive view of MOOCs and believed that they could enhance their English proficiency levels. The Yemeni EFL learners acknowledged the benefits of MOOCs in providing them with up-to-date learning resources, including readings, lectures, and videos. These diverse materials facilitated practical application and learning in a remote, online environment. The study presented several recommendations for EFL students, including recognizing the benefits of MOOCs, maintaining commitment and self-motivation, actively engaging with instructors and fellow learners, managing time effectively, and supplementing MOOC learning with additional resources

The Self-translator’s [In]Visibility: Domestication, Foreignization, and More
This paper examines the translator's invisibility and visibility in applying the translation strategies of domestication and foreignization used in autobiographical self-translation from Japanese to English. This study is part of a larger research project investigating the self-translation process I experienced while self-translating my autobiography, originally written in Japanese, my native language, into English, my second language. In this autobiographical self-translation process, the roles of the author, first-person narrator, protagonist, and translator are coterminous. Therefore, the narrative's translation process must be examined from multiple perspectives, which involve, for instance, the author-translator's perceptions of the new target audience, the events, and participants described in the story, etc. Focusing primarily on the influence of the audience, the present study examines, from a social-psychological perspective, the translator's style-shifting behavior as manifested in the application of the two translation strategies. Domestication, for instance, can be seen as the translator's convergence toward the target text audience (i.e., readers) and foreignization as a divergence from them. Self-translators may apply foreignization, not only for divergence but for other reasons—e.g., their emotional attachment toward the source text, story, and characters. In self-translation, the author and translator are identical. This fact may make the issue of translators' invisibility insignificant. Yet, self-translators may still become invisible when they apply domestication and converge toward the target text audience. But at the same time, the application of domestication or foreignization by self-translators may be regarded as their expression of their selves, which makes them truly visible as translators—likely not to the audience but to themselves

Towards a design for an improved drinking water supply system on Bonaire, St Eustatius and Saba
In 2008, the author has conducted a research study on behalf of the Caribbean Water Association on the consequences of the constitutional change of the Netherlands Antilles for the drinking water supply on Bonaire, St Eustatius and Saba (BES). This research study formed the basis for further research in the form of this MSc. thesis. Being the responsible Ministry for the supply of drinking water on the future BES islands, VROM positively embraced the idea to study solution alternatives to improve the current situation on the BES islands. The Ministry of VROM granted the author with the financial means and support to conduct this thesis research study. In chapter 7 of this report a set of guidelines and instruments is presented that can support the Ministry of VROM in defining and preparing an improved drinking water supply on the BES islands.Sanitary EngineeringWatermanagementCivil Engineering and Geoscience
