Dave came to Bard as a film major but switched to English, focusing on creative writing. He notes the people who were influential to him at Bard, including Peter Sourian and Robert Kelly, and remembers Terence Dewsnap’s Ulysses course as the class that made the largest impression on him as a student. Dave speaks about how he felt at home with the student body, and that Bard was a positive place for him socially. He also took classes in art history and dance and mentions art exhibitions, lectures, and Robins Readings that were important events to him. He elaborates on his thoughts about aesthetics inspired by an experience at a Robbins Reading: “It [aesthetics] makes you feel as though, okay, existence is not random, existence can be made better, and the way you do that is by paying attention and by creating some kind of change because you have a voice; you have agency.”https://digitalcommons.bard.edu/oral_hist/1052/thumbnail.jp
