Two Novel Formulations for the Optimum Design of Rack-And Steering Mechanisms
A numerical and an analytical optimization formulations are presented for design of rack-and-pinion steering mechanisms. The distance between the uprights, the angle between the steering arm and wheel axles are assumed to be predesigned. The numerical method enables design of the steering arm, the rack, the rack offset and then the tie rod length can be computed using the symmetrical configuration of the mechanism. The analytical method results in a cubic polynomial equation, root of which gives only one parameter (steering arm or rack offset) based on the assumption that the rack offset is equal to the half of the difference between the distance between the uprights and the rack. Both methods optimize weighted sum of the least-squares of the error between wheel turning angle generated by the mechanism and desired angle according to Ackermann steering principle. The methods are illustrated with a numerical example. When numerical optimization is used, the error is less than 0.2° for 36° angle range. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024
A Study on Using Deviation Function Method to Reshape a Rack Cutter
[[abstract]]In this paper a method for the modified profile of a rack cutter is presented. The deviation function method is used to reshape a rack cutter. The author proposes a modified geometry of a rack cutter to generate the driving gear of internal gear pairs. Based on the double envelope concept, the driven gear of a set of internal gear pairs can be determined. In this study, the Von-Mises stress analysis of the reshaped internal gear pairs was carried out and the specific phenomena was also investigated. The results show that it is possible to compensate elastic deformation and reduce contact stress between conjugate gear pairs. In addition, according to the tooth contact analysis on the gear pairs, reshaped gears and conventional gears have also been investigated. Computerized design of internal gears using the proposed method and simulation of their meshing and contact stress analysis of asymmetric internal gears has been developed. The Optimization Design for Rack Tooth Profile Curve of Straight Push-Rod Linear Reducer
The straight push-rod linear reducer is a new kind of transmission installation, the rack is the key link of the mechanism. Here the author have discussed the establishment of optimization mathematical model about rack tooth profile curve when the linear reducer are used in different occasion, and also have introduced the adopted optimization methods, finally have analyzed the optimal result of tooth profile curve of two specific conditions. In the end, through the comparison about some corresponding indexes of tooth profile between the optimal result and a few commonly used curve, the optimal tooth profile got by the optimal solution is verified the optimal result.</jats:p
Thermal Control Scheme Study of Scientific Experiment Rack of New Manned Space Station
AbstractThe thermal control system of the scientific experiment rack of the new manned spaces station is composed of the liquid cooling system and the air cooling system, which can be divided into three patterns, the liquid cold plate cooling, the air circuit cooling and the combination of cold plate and the air circuit cooling. According to the different cooling capabilities of the liquid cooling and the air cooling system, each scientific experiment rack is properly installed with one of the alternatives based on its own cooling requirements. Meanwhile this article compares the thermal performance parameter of the thermal control system of the China new manned space station with that the international space station to provide certain references to the research and development of the thermal control system of China space station
