Diversity and Geographical Distribution of Sand Flies Phlebotomus papatasi (Diptera: Phlebotominae) by using Geometric Morphometric Technique from two Iraqi Provinces
Get PDF تم دراسة الاختلاف في الصفات المظهرية للأجنحة باستخدام تقنية المقياس الهندسي لمجاميع سكانية مختلفة من ذبابة الرمل من محافظتين مختلفتان هما بابل وديالى. حيث تم تحديد أحد عشر معلم موزعة على أجنحة هذه الأنواع. تم تمييز جميع الأنواع باستخدام حجم وشكل الجناح. هذه النتائج تسلط الضوء على تحليل الجناح كأداة فعالة لدراسات الاختلافات المورفولوجية لجناح ذبابة الرمزل. The variation in wing morphological features was investigated using geometric morphometric technique of the Sand Fly from two Iraqi provinces Babylon and Diyala . We distributed eleven landmarks on the wings of Sand Fly species. By using the centroid size and shape together, all species were clearly distinguished. It is clear from these results that the wing analysis is an essential method for future geometric morphometry studies to distinguish the species of Sand Flies in Iraq

Get PDFتعد خنفساء اللُّوبْياء الجنوبية Callosobruchus maculatus وَاحِدة مِن أَكثَر الآفَات الحشريَّة اِنْتشارًا وتدْميرًا لِلْبقوليَّات المخْزونة ، اذ تسبب خسائر كَبِيرَة أَثنَاء التَّخْزين ، وتقليل في الوزْن الصَّافي لِلْمحاصيل ، واضعاف قُدْرتِهَا على النُّموِّ الامر الذي يؤدِّي إِلى تَقلِيل جَودَة المحاصيل . لِذَا أُجرِيت هَذِه الدِّراسة لِتحْدِيد تاثير تراكيز مختلفة 1000 ، 2000 و3000 جزء بالمليون من المستخلص القلويدي لاوراق نبات المورينكا Moringa oleifera في بعض مؤشرات النمو للحشرة متمثلة بجداول الحياة والخصوبة ذات الجنسين. تمَّ اِسْتخْدام هذَا المسْتخْلص كمبيد حيوي للحشرة فضلا عن عدم سُميَّة لِلْإنْسان والْبيئة بِشَكل عامٍّ . أَظهرَت النتائج أنَّ أقلَّ مُعدَّل بَقَاء للحشرة كان 49 % بِترْكِيز 1000 و 2000 جُزْء فِي الملْيون مُقَارنَة بمعاملة السيطره وَالتِي كَانَت 77 % . كمَا أنَّ أقلَّ مُعدَّل للتعويض الصافي ( Ro ) كان 4.76 انثى / انثى / جيل بِترْكِيز 1000 جُزْء فِي الملْيون مقارنة عند معاملة السيطرة 10.34 انثى / انثى / جيل ، بيْنمَا سجل أقلَّ مُعدَّل لفَقْس البيْض 62 % بِترْكِيز 3000 جُزْء فِي الملْيون مُقَارنَة مع معاملة السَّيْطرة 88 %. وبالْمثْل ، اِنْخفَضتْ نِسْبَة الذُّكور إِلى الإنَاث بَعْد اِسْتخْدام التراكيز الثَّلاثة ، ومعْظمهَا بِترْكِيز 1000 جُزْء فِي الملْيون ، حَيْث كَانَت النِّسْبة ( ذُكُور : إِنَاث ) 1.31 : 0.69 مُقَابِل 1.11 : 0.89 لِلسَّيْطرة . بِشَكل عامٍّ ، أنَّ مُعدَّل البقَاء ، ونسب انتاجية الاناث تَأثرَت بِشَكل سَلبِي مِمَّا يؤشر الى اِنخِفاض فِي سكان الحشرات في الجيل القادم . يَتضِح مِمَّا سبق أنَّ المسْتخْلص القلَويديَّ لِأوْرَاق نَبَات المورينْجَا فَعَّال وله تَأثِير على سكان الحشرة ، وَيمكِن أن يَكُون وَسِيلَة صَدِيقَة لِلْبيئة لِلسَّيْطرة على تَعْداد C . maculatusThe Southern Cowpea Beetle Callosobruchus maculatus (F.) is one of the most widespread insect pests of stored legumes, causing a considerable loss during storage, decreasing the net weight of the crops, and resulting in reduced the quality of the crops. This study has been conducted to determine the lifetime, fertility and life table parameters of C. maculatus by using an alkaloids extract from Moringa oleifera leaves at different concentrations 1000, 2000, and 3000 ppm. The result was shown that the lowest survival rate was 49% at a concentration of 1000, 2000 ppm, as compared with the control which was 77%. The lowest reproductive rate (Ro) was 4.76 female/female/generation at the concentration of 1000 ppm, compared with the control which was 10.34 female/ female /generation while the lowest rate of egg hatching was 62% at the concentration of 3000 ppm as compared with the control 88%. Similarly, the sex ratio of male: to female was decreased after the use of the three concentrations, mostly at the concentration of 1000 ppm, in which the ratio was 1.31:0.69 compared to 1.11:0.89 for the control. Overall, the life tables curve shows that the survival rate, the ratio of the females and the productivity was affected in a negative way causing a decline in the whole insect population. It is clear from the above that the alkaloids extract of the leaves of the Moringa plant is effective and has an impact on the insect population, and can be an eco-friendly method of controlling on pest population
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
