Dear Amon:- I've thought of you so much these last few days, and want you to know that my heart and prayers are with you_ Raymond tells me what wonderful courage and strength you have shown through it all_ I just know that there is "a Supreme Being," that gives us aid when we need it, as I do know your devotion for that grand boy_ I have felt a real privelge in being able to go into the church every week, and say a "pittle prayer," and burn a "candle" for Amon Jr. In the future I will try to make the trip more often, because "prayer" alon is our only hope and refuge. Am enclosing a "little prayeR" that I have been using since Xmas_ I do hope you will see fit to read it every day, and that it will bring results_ Again let me tell you how much affection Raymond and I have for you_ If at any time I can help, won't you please call on me_ I am thinking of you. Letter from Katie Rose to Amon Carter regarding Amon, Jr.'s liberation as a prisoner of war. Enclosing items are a postcard and article entitled "Amon Carter Jr. Rescued by Russ."Dear Amon: I said a prayer of thanksgiving when I heard the enclosed. How happy I know you are to know now that it wont be long until you are reunited with your fine son. Ohh- this awful war! What toll it has taken! I read with keen interest the Star-Telegram Editoral. We Texans really get them started! It was our Connally who first broke the good news. I am here for the summer - I have a house here - The card enclosed shows the location - it is the house in the extreme left hand corner - only a portion (?) but you see I overlook the "blue Pacific." It is really a beautiful spot - more like the South of France the Riviera. I think of my friends in Texas so often. How well I remember the nice visit you and John Naylor had with us on "The Home On The Range." Always kindest regards and fond memories from your sincere friend Katie Weaver Rose May 5th '4

The Effects of Melatonin on the Teratogenic Effects of Homocysteine

    No full text
While folic acid deficiency has long been connected with adverse outcomes of pregnancy, evidence indicates homocysteine is the teratogenic agent in folic acid deficiency and maternal hyperhomocysteinemia has been shown to result in fetal death and congenital defects. To date, the mechanism of homocysteine teratogenicity is unclear. Hyperhomocysteinemia is also associated with several other disease states, including cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases. It has been proposed that the mechanism of homocysteine pathogenesis within these disease states results from the auto-oxidation of homocysteine and subsequently increases in oxidative stress. Melatonin is a powerful antioxidant, shown to be effective in decreasing pro-oxidant effects of homocysteine within cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases. In this thesis project, avian embryos were treated with homocysteine during neurulation. Homocysteine treatment resulted in dose-dependent mortality and disruption of normal development of embryonic development, conferring specific defects such as neural tube defects, caudal cysts, and decreases in extraembryonic vasculature. Melatonin and ascorbic acid, two antioxidants, were shown to reduce homocysteine induced mortality. Furthermore, experiments attempting to rescue decreased extraembryonic vasculature, although underpowered and unable to detect a significant difference, trended toward increasing vascular density. In summary, embryonic treatment with antioxidants such as melatonin and ascorbic acid during neurulation reduces the effects of homocysteine on the developing embryo. These results are suggestive of a role for oxidative stress in the mechanism of homocysteine teratogenicity.viii, 104 page

    The Carter Chronology

    No full text
This paper proposes the Carter Chronology, a systemic realignment of the Hebrew Exodus within the mid-18th Dynasty of Egypt. Central to this model is the 1494 BC birth of Moses, which establishes a 1414 BC Exodus under Amenhotep II. By applying the "Rule of Inclusive Logic," the author demonstrates that the 480-year span of 1 Kings 6:1 represents a cumulative regnal total rather than linear solar time, resolving the 32-year variance to the 966 BC Temple foundation. Furthermore, the paper offers a forensic analysis of the Amarna Correspondence, identifying the "Habiru" incursions as the primary archaeological signature of the Israelite Conquest (c. 1374 BC), specifically addressing the Shechem and Hazor synchronisms. Finally, the author defends the "Rameses" toponym (Exodus 1:11) as a scribal anachronism for the 12th-15th Dynasty site of Avaris, supported by the administrative reforms of Senusret III. This synthesis provides a 98/100 correlation between the biblical record and the archaeological strata of the Levant
