No full textRégulièrement évoquée dans les histoires de l’Amérique espagnole, la question du métissage reste cependant peu étudiée pour la période proto-coloniale. Dans le Nouveau Royaume de Grenade cette période (c. 1537-1615) coïncide avec l’émergence de la première génération de Métis (« mestizos »). Le présent travail de thèse porte sur les conditions de vie de ces individus. Il s’agit de s’interroger sur le rôle social, politique et culturel des Métis à partir de l’étude d’un faisceau de cas nous permettant de distinguer des profils et des tendances au sein de la catégorie socio-ethnique considérée.Contrairement à une approche historiographique fondée sur l’examen des discrimi-nations subies par ces individus, nous avons choisi de privilégier l’étude de leur protagonisme socio-politique. Acteurs sociaux qui naviguent entre deux mondes, les Métis ne constituent ni une minorité ni un groupe qui aurait évolué en marge de la société coloniale. Leur appartenance à des familles ainsi qu’à des réseaux de sociabilité aussi bien hispano-créoles que muiscas semble, au contraire, leur avoir conféré une légitimité et pouvoir supplémentaires pour prétendre à certaines charges politiques, de même qu’elle explique leur participation active aux luttes et enjeux de pouvoir qui agitaient alors la région. Ce protagonisme a suscité la défiance de certains Espagnols et entraîné des conflits socio-politiques, en particulier dans les années 1570-1580. L’étude de ces conflits laisse entrevoir l’existence d’une conscience de groupe chez certains Métis et l’émergence d’une pensée qui interroge aussi bien leur place dans la société coloniale que leur droit à intervenir dans la vie politique de leurs territoires d’origine.Often mentioned in the history of the Spanish America, the question of the race mix was still not much studies in terms of proto-colonial period. In the New Kingdom of Grenade, coincides with the out-coming of the first mixed-race (“Mestizos”) from 1537 to 1615. This PhD study will focus in the life conditions of these individuals. It’s important to wonder about the social, political and cultural investment of the mestizos’ role as of the study of an ensemble of cases that help us to distinguish profiles and tendencies in this group.Contrarily to a historical approach founded on the study of the discriminations suffered by these individuals, we decided to favor the study of their socio-political protagonism. Social actors that dive between two worlds, mixed-race individuals were not a minority, nor a marginalized group in colonial society. Their belonging to families and to networks of Hispanic sociableness as well as indigenous’, has given them legitimacy and power to intend to political positions. Also, it explains their active participation in the fights and issues of power that blew the region. This protagonism made the Spanish feel suspicious about them, and carried some socio-political conflicts (from 1570 to 1580). The study of these conflicts allows us to suppose the existence of a certain group conscience in some mixed-race individuals, and the out coming of a way of thinking that made them wonder not only about their place in the colonial society, but also about their rights to take part of the political life in their home lands.Aunque se trata de un tema regularmente mencionado en la historia de la América hispánica, el fenómeno del mestizaje del inicio de la época colonial ha sido poco estudiado. Esta tesis trata sobre la vida de la primera generación de mestizos del Nuevo Reino de Granada (1537-1615), con la intención de interrogarse sobre su papel social, cultural y 8 político a partir de un conjunto de casos que permiten apreciar los perfiles y las tendencias observadas en ese grupo socio-étnico. Contrariamente a una tendencia historiográfica que insiste en las limitaciones que conocieron, hemos preferido poner de relieve el gran protagonismo socio-político que tuvieron. Actores sociales insertos en ambos mundos, español e indígena (muisca), los mestizos no constituían una minoría marginada sino que participaban activamente en la vida social y política de la sociedad colonial. Como miembros de familias y redes de sociabilidad españolas e indígenas, adquirieron un poder y una legitimidad para ocupar puestos destacados, involucrándose en las luchas de poder que agitaban la región. Su protagonismo y sus ambiciones despertaron el recelo de algunos españoles, provocando una serie de conflictos en los años 1570 y 1580, cuyo estudio ha permitido revelar la existencia entre los mestizos de una conciencia de pertenecer a un grupo especial que merecía desempeñar un papel sobresaliente en la vida política de su región natal
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
