    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     Variations on the Author

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     مستلخص البحث لا يقتصر تعليم مهارة القراءة على الجامعات الإسلامية فحسب، بل هناك جامعة عامة تدرس اللغة العربية ومنها مهارة القراءة باستراتيجية الناجحة. فأراد االباحث فأن يكشف الأمرين، هما (1) إستراتيجية تقوية مهارة القراءة لدى طلبة كلية الدراسات الإسلامية بجامعة ترونوجويو-مادورا على مستوى الكلية، و(2) إستراتيجية تقوية مهارة القراءة لدى طلبة كلية الدراسات الإسلامية بجامعة ترونوجويو-مادورا على مستوى التعليم. استخدم الباحث في هذا البحث المدخل الكيفى بمنهج دراسة الحالة، وحصل الباحث على البيانات من المقابلة والملاحظة والوثائق. وقام الباحث بتحليل البيانات على مذهب ميليس وهوبرمين وسلدانا الذي يحتوي على تكثيف البيانات بعد جمعها ثم عرضها وتلخيصها. وقام الباحث بفحص صحة البيانات على مذهب ليكولن وجوبا الذي يحتوي على (1) الملاحظة مرارا وتكرارا، (2) مناقشة البحث و نتائج تحليلها مع الأصدقاء الماهرين، (3) إعادة فحص المذكرات الميدنية بدقة، (4) استفادة المصادر خارج البيانات المحللات (التثليث). وتدل نتائج هذا البحث على أن : (1) هناك أنواع كثيرة من الإستراتيحيات التى طبقت لتقوية مهارة القراءة لدى طلبة كلية الدراسات الإسلامية بجامعة ترونوجويومادورا على مستوى الكلية، وهي: أ) نظام وجوب نجاح الطلبة في اختبار قراءة الكتب لكونها شرطا من شروط مناقشة البحث العلمي، ب) تنفيذ البرنامج الإضافي لتعليم اللغة العربية، ج) اختيار الطلبة المتفوقين وفقًا للمعايير كالمساعدين في التعليم، د) إشراف قراءة الكتب في سكن الطلبة. و(2) على مستوى التعليم فكانت إستراتيجية تقوية مهارة القراءة لدى طلبة كلية الدراسات الإسلامية بجامعة ترونوجويو-مادورا هي: أ) استخدام أساليب التعليم وطرائقه المتنوعة في تعليم قراءة الكتب أثناء التعليم التقليدي، ب) تنفيذ التعليم عن بعد لتعليم قراءة الكتب الذي تتكون من التعليم المتزامن وغير المتزامن، ج) استخدام الوسائل التعليمية المتنوعة وأما النتجية الرسمية من هذا البحث فهي إعطاء التقوية على مستوى الكلية والتعليم باستخدام الأساليب والطرق والوسائل المتنوعة لتدريبات القراءة وفقا بالقواعد النحوية والصرفية يكون فعالا لإسراع إتقان مهارة القراءة لدى الطلبة ABSTRACT Learning Maharah Qiro'ah is not limited to Islamic universities, but there are Public Universities that teach Arabic including Maharah Qiro'ah successfully.This study aims to reveal about; (1) Strategies for Reinforcement Qiro'atul Kutub Competence in the Islamic Faculty of UTM at the Faculty level , (2) Strategies for Reinforcement Qiro'atul Kutub Competence in the Islamic Faculty of UTM at the learning level. Researchers used a qualitative research approach in a case study methodology. And the data collection was carried out by interviews, observation, and documentation. Researchers used data analysis carried out by Miles, Huberman and Saldana which consisted of condensation data after collecting data, presenting data and conclusions data. Then the researchers used data validation techniques from lincoln and guba which consisted of (1) continuous observation, (2) discussing data and analysis results with experts, (3) checking field notes carefully, (4) utilizing sources outside of the analyzed data (trigulation). The results of the research indicated that: 1) Strategies for Reinforcement Maharah Qiro’ah for Students of the Islamic Faculty of UTM at the Faculty level, were: a) Mandatory regulations for students to pass the Qiro'atul Kutub exam as a Thesis exam requirement, b) implementation of the Arabic Language Supplementary Program, c) student selection achievement to become an Assistant Lecturer in lectures, d) guidance of Qiro'atul Kutub in the Student Dormitory,. 2) Strategies for Reinforcement Maharah Qiro’ah for Students of the Islamic Faculty of UTM at the learning level are: a) The use of varied learning models and methods in traditional learning, b) Implementation of Distance Learning (Synchronous E-Leaning and Asynchronous E-Leaning), c) use of learning media The formal finding of this research is providing reinforcement at the Faculty and Learning level by using varied learning models and methods in the practice of reading Arabic texts according to nahwu and sharaf rules can accelerate the mastery of Maharah Qiro’ah. ABSTRAK Pembelajaran Maharah Qiro’ah tidak terbatas di Universitas-universitas Islam saja, akan tetapi ada Universitas Umum yang mengajarkan Bahasa Arab termasuk Maharah Qiro’ah dengan sukses. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan; (1) Strategi Penguatan Maharah Qiro’ah bagi Mahasiswa Fakultas Keislaman UTM pada level Fakultas, dan (2) Strategi Penguatan Maharah Qiro’ah bagi Mahasiswa Fakultas Keislaman UTM pada level Pembelajaran Peneliti menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif dengan jenis studi kasus. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. analisis data yang digunakan adalah model Miles, Huberman dan Saldana yang terdiri dari kondensasi data setelah mengumpulkan data, pemaparan data dan kesimpulan data. Kemudian peneliti menggunakan teknik validasi data dari lincoln dan guba yang terdiri dari (1) observasi terus menerus, (2) mendiskusikan data dan hasil analisis dengan ahli, (3) memeriksa kembali catatan lapangan secara cermat, (4) memanfaatkan sumber diluar data yang dianalisis (trigulasi). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Strategi Penguatan Maharah Qiro’ah bagi Mahasiswa Fakultas Keislaman UTM pada level Fakultas, adalah: a) Peraturan wajib lulus bagi mahaiswa dalam ujian Qiro’atul Kutub sebagai Syarat ujian Skripsi, b) pelaksanaan Program Tambahan Bahasa Arab, c) pemilihan mahasiswa berprestasi untuk menjadi Assisten Dosen dalam perkuliahan, d)bimbingan Qiro’atul Kutub di Asrama Mahasiswa,. 2) Strategi Penguatan Maharah Qiro’ah bagi Mahasiswa Fakultas Keislaman UTM pada level pembelajaran adalah: a) Pengunaan model dan metode pembelajaran yang variatif pada pembelajaran tradisional, b) Pelaksanan Pembelajaran Jarak Jauh (Synchronous E-Leaning dan Asynchronous E-Leaning), c) pemanfaatan media pembelajaran Temuan Formal penelitian ini yaitu pemberian penguatan pada level Fakultas dan Pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model dan metode pembelajaran yang variatif pada praktek membaca teks-teks Arab sesuai kaidah nahwu dan sharaf dapat mempercepat penguasaan Maharah Qiro’ah

    Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

    ABSTRAK Salah satu unsur terpenting dalam kurikulum adalah materi bahan ajar yang tertuang dalam buku pelajaran yang ditentukan oleh Sekolah, tapi pada kenyataannya terkadang para guru di sekolah dalam mengajar siswa-siswinya menggunakan LKS (Lembar Kerja Siswa) untuk meningkatkan keterampilan dan kemampuan mereka. Bahkan para guru mengesampingkan Buku Ajar dan lebih terfokus pada LKS, mereka beralasan bahwa waktu untuk mengajarkan materi terlalu singkat. Tak terkecuali materi Bahasa Arab. Fenomena ini tidak akan berdampak negative apabila LKS yang digunakan memiliki kualitas yang terjamin pada tampilan, materi, gambar- gambar, latihan-latihan, dan bahasa penyajiannya. Begitu pula sebaliknya akan terjadi, jika LKS tersebut tidak memiliki kulitas yang baik. Seperti yang terjadi di kota Jakarta dan Mojokerto pada tahun lalu. Di Jakarta ditemukan LKS yang tidak sesuai kepribadian, karakter dan usia siswa, dalam LKS tersebut terdapat tema "Kehidupan Rumah tangga" fatalnya lagi digunakan di Sekolah Dasar. Di Mojokerto ditemukan LKS yang memuat gambar perempuan telanjang "Artis Miyabi" juga digunakan di SD. Penelitian ini Memilih LKS Bahasa Arab yang ditulis oleh Muhammad Alfan, Robi’atul Wahidah dan Aan Andriyana dan diterbitkan oleh Lembaga Penerbitan Pondok Pesantern Miftahul Huda Malang sebagai bahan untuk dievalusi kualitasnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif, dimana peneliti menganalisis data yang ada dengan pendekatan kuantitatif kemudian menafsirkannya dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini sebagai berikut: (0) Kualitas tampilan dan percetakan LKS mencapai %16 menurut pandangan siswa dan %86 menurut pandangan para ahli dan guru bahasa Arab, (3) Kualitas kecocokan materi dan Buku ajar mencapai %%6 menurut pandangan siswa dan 476 menurut pandangan para ahli dan guru bahasa Arab, (2) Kualitas gambar mencapai %46 menurut pandangan siswa dan %%6 menurut pandangan para ahli dan guru bahasa Arab, (7) Kualitas Latihan-latihanmencapai %%6 menurut pandangan siswa dan 416 menurut pandangan para ahli dan guru bahasa Arab, dan (%) Kualitas Bahasa dan Penyajiannya mencapai %%,%6 menurut pandangan siswa dan %86 menurut pandangan para ahli dan guru bahasa Arab Berdasarkan data di atas dapat disimpulkan bahwa Kualitas LKS yang digunakan di MTs. Surya Buana Malang - Jawa Timur tidak Layak karena tidak sesuai dengan kriteria-kriteria yang ditetapkan oleh peneliti dalam penelitian ini. ABSTRACT One of the most important elements in the curriculum is the teaching materials contained in the textbooks prescribed by the school, but in fact sometimes the teachers at the school to teach its students to use LKS (Student Worksheet) to enhance their skills and abilities. Even the teachers set aside Textbook and more focused on the worksheet, they reasoned that the time to teach is very short. No exception Arabic material. This phenomenon will not be impacted negatively if used LKS has quality-assured appearance, materials, drawings, exercises, and language. This study used a descriptive approach, where researchers analyzed existing data and then interpret the quantitative approach with a qualitative approach. The results of this study as follows: (0) Quality display and printing worksheets reached %16 according to the views of students and %86 according to the views of experts and Arabic teacher, (3) quality of materials and textbooks match up to %%6 according to the views of students and 47 % according to the views of experts and Arabic teacher, (2) quality images in the view of achieving %46 of students and %%6 according to the views of experts and Arabic teacher, (7) Quality Training-latihanmencapai %%6 according to the views of students and 416 according to the view the Arabic language experts and teachers, and (%) Language and Presentation Quality reached %%.%6 according to the views of students and %86 according to the views of experts and Arabic teacher Based on the above data it can be concluded that the quality of the worksheets used in MTs.     We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
