A Permanent Presence of the Film Industry in Kansas, The Sequel
No full textJanuary 2005.; application/pdfThis study presents a review of the film industry, the issues and options available, and the potential for development of a permanent film industry presence in Kansas. During the 2004 Legislative session, the Lights, Camera, Action (LCA) House Subcommittee asked Kansas, Inc. to assist with issues identification and assessment of options available to the state to pursue and develop a permanent film industry presence. The earlier paper concluded the Legislative timeframe for 2004 was too short for making decisions or developing initiatives and that a more substantial review was needed. Through the support and assistance of the Kansas Department of Commerce and the Kansas Film Commission, this "sequel" to the first study presents a further review of the industry and its potential for development in Kansas

No full textThis is the first Annual Report published by Kansas Inc. as required by state law. The report includes messages from the CoChairmen and a report from the President. Kansas Inc.'s mission for guiding economic development policy is detailed along with a conceptual framework model. Presented also are the highlights and accomplishments of the organization during fiscal year 1988. Data on trends and projections of vital importance to the Kansas economy are displayed in a series of tables and graphs with a narrative analysis. A statement of priorities for Kansas and this agency over the next several years is outlined, along with the major challenges facing the state. The report also contains financial statements for 1988 and 1989, as well as a listing of Board members and staff. Two-thirds of the agency's budget is provided from the State General Fund and state law mandates the remaining one-third be matched by the private sector. The companies and individuals who have generously supported Kansas Inc. through their donations are listed at the back of the report.
