The Factors Affecting the Work Engagement among Teachers in Lower Secondary Schools in Albania
Work engagement among the teachers in a lower secondary school in Albania reflects their attitude towards the task which conditions on a set of factors related to his enthusiasm and energy, commitment and level of psycho-emotional and spiritual involvement during the task performance process. Dedication is the largest contributor subscale to the work engagement of lower secondary school teachers. Vigor ranks second and Absorption is the subscale that has the least effect. Gender, work experience and age of the teacher are significant factors (p<0.05) while the relationship between property status of the school, its location and the level of work engagement among the teachers is not significant (p>0.05)
ANALYSIS OF DETERMINANT FACTORS RELATED TO EDUCATION IN MOTHER TONGUE FOR NATIONAL MINORITIES IN ALBANIA
ABSTRACT: Albanian legislation deals with the right of national minorities to education in their mother tongue in accordance with the requirements and standards of international conventions and documents and is aligned with the best practices of EU countries for non-discrimination of national minorities. The analysis of the PIRE index points out that the implementation of this legislation is conditioned by the level of cooperation of communities belonging to national minorities with public institutions of pre-university education and local government bodies. The desire for education in their mother tongue, the economic-social, historical, cultural conditions, tradition, the size of the population and territorial distribution of each national minority community were evaluated as factors that affect the fulfill of this human right. Objective: The evaluation of fulfillment of the right to education in the mother tongue for national minorities in Albania and identification of problems and issues that must be addressed for the improvement of the legislation and for its effective implementationMethodology: The study was carried out using the data of perceptions collected by interviewing 516 citizens who belong to different national minorities in Albania. The assessment of the PIRE index and the quantitative assessments of its six component indicators were used to analyze the legislation that deals with the right of national minorities to education in their mother tongue and its implementation. Results: Fulfillment of the right to education in the mother tongue for national minorities in Albania is assessed at the "Moderate" level. The legal framework related to this right and the "Desir to be educated in mother tongue" were evaluate at the "High" level. The indicator that reflects the level of opportunities necessary for implementing the legislation was evaluate at the "Moderate" level. The engagement of public institutions, local government bodies and civil society was perceived as "Low". At a low level, citizens who belong to national minorities also perceive the results achieved for the preparation of qualified teachers and bilateral, kin-state and regional cooperation. Contributions: This study contributes to the academic discussion on issues related to Albania's obligation to fulfill the right of national minorities to education in the mother tongue. The results of the study serve to guide the legislative process relevant to this human right and the efforts that must be made for its implementation. JOB SATISFACTION AMONG TEACHERS IN LOWER SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN ALBANIA - AN EMPIRICAL STUDY / KËNAQËSIA E PUNËS E MËSUESVE NË SHKOLLAT E CIKLIT TE MESËM TË ULËT NË SHQIPËRI - STUDIM EMPIRIK
The aims of present study are the quantitative evaluation of job satisfaction among teachers in lower secondary schools in Albania, the identification of the factors responsible and ranking them according to the effect they have on teacher’s job satisfaction. A sample of 198 teachers in lower secondary schools was randomly selected. The findings of the study revealed: (i) Job satisfaction among Albanian teachers in the lower secondary education cycle is evaluated at the "Moderate" level (3.41 ± 0.47 scores; max 5 scores). It is more affected by the motivating factors that as hygiene factors. (ii) Job satisfaction in Albanian teachers in the lower secondary education cycle is an expression of a psycho-emotional state and their behavior towards the profession and task they perform. (iii) Job satisfaction is conditioned by factors related to: (a) remuneration policies; (b) relationships with colleagues and leaders; (c) motivation; (d) personal feelings; (e) working environment conditions: didactic tools; number of students in the class, workload outside the classroom; (iv) promotion does not result as a factor with a significant effect on job satisfaction among teachers.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
koamabayili/VECTRON-author-checklist: VECTRON author checklist
We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
